The Association of London Clubs Hospitality During 2021 Summer Closure THE ASSOCIATION OF LONDON CLUBS HOSPITALITY DURING 2021 SUMMER CLOSURE The following is a list of members offering hospitality to Association Clubs which close during August together with any comments submitted by the Clubs. All Clubs require current membership cards or introductory letters. All accounts should be paid on presentation at the time of Members using the facilities of any of the Clubs and before departure. Army & Navy Club will be delighted to offer hospitality to Members of the ALC Clubs during their respective closures upon presentation of their membership card and a card of introduction. We will remain open throughout the summer and a normal service will operate during weekdays. However, at weekends, the following outlets will be open. Bars & Restaurants • The Coffee Room |Mon - Fri, 12.30 – 14.30 | 18.00 – 21.00 • The Smoking Room | Mon - Fri, 11.00 – 23.00 • The Ribbon Bar & Terrace | Open Daily, 10.00 – 23.00 For bookings, please email [email protected] Accommodation The Rag offers 75 en-suite bedrooms and two luxury Suites, providing all you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay in the heart of St James’s. The Caledonian Club will be delighted to offer hospitality to Members of the ALC Clubs during August upon presentation of their membership card or letter of introduction. The Members’ Bar, Dining Room and Terrace will be open throughout this period serving full lunch and dinner menus, Monday to Friday. Bedrooms and banqueting will be open for business as usual. The Club has a relaxed dress code during this period; jacket and tie are not required however as usual no jeans or trainers. Cavalry and Guards Club would be pleased to welcome members from other ALC Clubs during August (we accept Ladies and children over 12 (under 12 by arrangement) but only with those clubs that have made a prior arrangement. City of London Club is remaining open throughout the summer and invites Members of those Clubs closing to use the facilities when in the City. The City’s newest roof terrace, Churchill’s, opened on 21st June along with the Club’s 20 brand new bespoke bedrooms and are available for use by all Members of the ALC Clubs. City University Club is open throughout the summer and will be delighted to welcome members of other Clubs to lunch and dinner on Thursdays. The club is open from 8.30am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday, with dinner served on Thursdays. We are available for Private events seven days a week, for breakfast, lunch and dinner is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, however the bar will open till late throughout the week. East India Club is delighted to welcome members of other London Clubs when their Clubhouses are closed over the summer holiday period. Please make reservations in advance for accommodation and breakfast available over 7 days and dining available Monday-Friday on 020 7930 1000 and unless we have been sent your club’s membership booklet, please produce a valid membership card or card of introduction. Please sign in on arrival. No children under 8 years. Lansdowne Club is very happy to welcome ALC Club members to its beautiful art deco dining room and bedroom facilities during the month of August, Monday – Sunday subject to availability. Dress code is jacket and long sleeve shirt although a tie is not required. National Liberal Club is open throughout the summer, apart from weekends and Bank Holidays, and is pleased to offer hospitality. Mondays to Fridays, to ALC members. Weather permitting, luncheon and dinner may be taken on the terrace which overlooks the Thames. No children admitted under 14 (during August not under 8). Not residential. The Oxford and Cambridge Club is delighted to welcome members from ALC Clubs during August after taking the decision to remain open this year. Bedrooms and dining are available 7 days a week and there are no restrictions on gender, children should be over 10 years old. Reservations for dining and accommodation should be made in advance, by calling 020 7930 5151 or emailing [email protected]. Membership cards or letters of introduction must be presented to the Hall Porter, upon entry to the Clubhouse The In & Out (Naval & Military Club) The In and Out would welcome any Members whose Club is closed for the Summer months here. It is open throughout August and we will be delighted to offer our facilities to other ALC members. A valid membership card should be presented on arrival. They may enjoy our bars, Brasserie, Fine dining room and wonderful Courtyard with our Brasserie menu too. Should any of your Members also require accommodation, they would be more than welcome to stay in one of our fully air conditioned bedrooms, and by doing so, our Gym and Swimming Pool. To make reservations, please telephone 020 7827 5757 or email [email protected] The Royal Automobile Club is pleased to welcome members from ALC Clubs from 1 to 31 August 2021 (unless alternative dates have been agreed with individual clubs to account for July and September closures). Reciprocal Club Members may use the bars, restaurants, banqueting and accommodation facilities. Use of the sport facilities are only available when staying in accommodation. Royal Over-Seas League is delighted to welcome members from other ALC clubs during August on presentation of valid membership card and letter of introduction. ROSL offers a relaxed and welcoming environment, operating a smart-casual dress code. ALC Members will be able to use ROSL clubhouse facilities in London which include access to: Members’ Bar, Terrace and Garden, Brabourne Room Brasserie, Members’ Drawing Room, and Business Lounge.     The quarterly newsletter of the University Club of Toronto September, 2016 Editor: Donald Rumball As the quartet’s residency coincides with their project to perform all of Beethoven’s string quartets, we are the beneficiaries of an extraordinary learning opportunity. Prior to each concert, the quartet introduces us to the music we are about to hear by playing extracts and illustrating how the piece is put together. They show us how experimental Beethoven was in his time, and how startlingly modern some of his work still sounds. We also get a sense of how the quartet functions as individual voices within the strict discipline of the string quartet idiom, giving credence to a comment often attributed to Goethe, “One hears four intelligent people conversing with one another, and believes one might learn something from their discourse.” Tapestry Opera We will continue to collaborate with Tapestry Opera, who presented two opera evenings last season: one featuring opera Diana Wiley introducing the New Orford String Quartet stars mezzo-soprano Krisztina Szabó and tenor David at a concert held in the lounge Pomeroy, who filled the Library with thrilling sounds in an evening of best-loved opera arias; and the other a working Music programming @uct rehearsal with the full orchestra and cast of a brand new opera that was performed to critical acclaim a week later.     Member Benefits 2018 Affiliate Club Access Worldwide For a number of years, the University Club has been working on increasing its network of clubs with which it has reciprocal agreements, so that as a UCT member you can access any one of hundreds of clubs worldwide and make use of their facilities as you would your own. The list of clubs with whom we have agreements has increased exponentially, largely through the auspices of a special arrangement with the International Associate group of clubs. The University Club pays a yearly fee on behalf of its members to access this additional group of affiliations. The IACs organisation has focussed on parts of the world where we had less experience, but where there is an increasing demand for services, such as the Gulf, Asia and middle Europe.
