#COEHacks2020 | FAMU-FSU College of Engineering Hackathon | March 6-7, 2020

Theme: "Bias, Diversity and Trust issues in Artificial Intelligence"

Within a 24-hour period, participants must design and implement a software and/or hardware solution to address data bias, diversity and/or trust issues in AI applications. Students will gain content knowledge in a variety of hands-on workshops, interactive labs, exciting demonstrations and technical talks including an introduction to AI, Python Programming Basics and field-programmable gate array (FPGA) hardware.

In addition, there will be networking opportunities, entertainment and high-energy mini- challenges throughout the event. You can participate by yourself or as part of a team. If you don’t have a team we can find one for you (maximum of 4 members per team). You definitely do not want to miss this event!

We plan to have at least 5 categories of prizes. Each category will have just one winner (a team of 4), so we anticipate 5 group prizes: Best Overall Solution (1 team) Most Creative/Innovative Solution Best Engineering Design Solution Best Marketable Solution Honorable Mention Award

5th Annual FAMU-FSU Engineering Shark Tank: A Technology Business Pitch Competition

Thursday, April 23, 2020 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. AME Seminar Room 106 2003 Levy Avenue, Innovation Park

Informational Meeting: Thursday, February 6, 4:30 p.m.- 5:30 p.m., FAMU-FSU Engineering, A115

Eligibility: Teams of two-four students. At least half the team should be undergraduate engineering students.

Prizes Include: $1,200 for Best Overall, $800 for Most Impactful, $600 for Most Innovative and $400 for the “People’s Choice Award.”

XPRIZE Foundation founder to be featured at Power Forward event

An international pioneer in innovation and commercial space travel will be the featured speaker at the annual Power Forward speaker series.

Peter Diamandis, founder and executive chairman of the XPrize Foundation, will speak on Feb. 4 at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall at Florida State University in an event organized by First Commerce Credit Union and sponsored by the FSU Office of Research and the FSU College of Business.

The event will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday Feb. 4, at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall. Tickets are now available at tickets.fsu.edu or at the FSU Fine Arts Tickets Office, 540 W. Call St.

With the theme “Owning Our Voices & Breaking Down Barriers,” the 2020 Multicultural Leadership Summit educates students on diversity, multiculturalism and social justice.

FYI: CBS Sets ‘’ Retrospective Special Ahead of 40th Season Premiere

“Survivor” will celebrate its upcoming 40th season with a one-hour retrospective special that looks back at the “greatest moments and players,” CBS announced Sunday.

The special, aptly titled “Survivor at 40: Greatest Moments and Players,” will air Feb. 5 at 8 p.m., one week ahead of the milestone season premiere.

The retrospective will feature new interviews with players including Christian Hubicki, Donathan Hurley, David Wright and Cirie Fields, and previous winners , , Jeremy Collins, and Ben Driebergen recounting their biggest moves, favorite moments and strategy from competing on the broadcast reality competition series.
