Harry Donovan netted the three goals and Paddy Kelly and Tommy Cummins were other shining stars. After his playing career ended, Keating turned his hands to coaching with very satisfying re- sults. He was coach and selector when Kiltale made the big breakthrough with their first Senior Championship triumph in 1982 and when they retained possession of the Jubilee Cup the following year. In the 1982 Meath SHC final both Kiltale and Rathmolyon were bidding to win the title for the first time and it was the side captained by Paddy Kelly junior who took the honours with a 3-7 to 2-6 victory. After the game-winning coach Noel Keating described the match as open and exciting and a good advertisement for hurling in Meath. The same teams clashed in the 1983 title decider, again played at St Loman’s Park, Trim, and Peter Farrell led Kiltale to a 0-11 to 1-5 success. Noel Keating 9 MEATH GAA CHAMPIONSHIPS 2020
