  • MEDIA INFORMATION 2015 Japanese Championship SUPER FORMULA
MEDIA INFORMATION July 14, 2015 Japan Race Promotion Inc. July 18 (Saturday) – July 19 (Sunday) 2015 Japanese Championship SUPER FORMULA Round 3 : Fuji Speedway Japan Race Promotion Inc. (President: Hiroshi Shirai, Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) today announced details of the “2015 Japanese Championship SUPER FORMULA, Round 3 Fuji Speedway,” scheduled to take place on July 18–19 at the Fuji Speedway Circuit (length = 4.563km) in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The 2015 Japanese Championship is the only internationally accredited driver championship series in Asia, run over seven rounds and six circuits across Japan. Points accumulated by drivers during the season determine the final rankings. A total of 11 teams (entrants) and 19 drivers (cars) have entered this year’s Japanese Championship. Spectators have the chance to enjoy a domestic competition with world-class levels of racing, featuring seven top drivers from six countries (UK, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Brazil and India), driving cars with the same cornering speeds as the top Formula 1 racing cars. Fuji Speedway is a challenging course with a long back straight that allows drivers to reach speeds of more than 310km. The course also has high-speed corners that will test the limits of the race cars and a double apex corner in the final section that requires advanced driving technique. Drivers, cars and tires will also be affected by the high temperatures at this time of year. On what is likely to be a hot day, the course will put the concentration, stamina and mental strength of drivers to the test and make conditions tough for the turbo-charged engines, which generate much more heat than naturally aspirated engines.

Round 4 : August 20 (Saturday) –August 21 (Sunday) 2016 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship : Twin Ring Motegi Japan Race Promotion Inc. (President: Akira Kurashita, Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) today announced details of Round 3 of the 2016 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series, scheduled to take place on August 20-21 at the Twin Ring Motegi Road Course (length = 4.801km) in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. The 2016 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series is the only internationally accredited driver championship in Asia, run over seven rounds and six circuits across Japan. A total of 11 teams (entrants) and 19 drivers (cars) from Japan and overseas* are competing to win this year’s series. * 12 drivers from Japan and seven from five other countries: UK (2), India (1), Germany (1), Brazil (1) and Belgium (2) Round 4 of the series will be run over 52 laps of the Twin Ring Motegi Road Course (length = 4.801km) for a total distance of 249.652km. Round 3 at Fuji Speedway featured plenty of head-to-head driver action, but Joao Paulo de Oliveira (ITOCHU ENEX TEAM IMPUL), who was forced to retire in Round 2 at Okayama International Circuit due to mechanical problems caused by heavy rain, ultimately emerged from the melee to take a hard-fought victory. Kazuki Nakajima (VANTELIN TEAM TOM’S) secured his first points of the season with a second place finish, followed by promising rookie Yuhi Sekiguchi (ITOCHU ENEX TEAM IMPUL) in third. With all three drivers making their first appearance on the podium this season after languishing down the rankings, the battle for the top positions is now incredibly tight.

  • SF 2017 Fuji Round3(E)
MEDIA INFORMATION June 29, 2017 Japan Race Promotion Inc. Round 3 : July 8 (Saturday) –July 9 (Sunday) 2017 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship: Fuji Speedway Japan Race Promotion Inc. (President: Akira Kurashita, Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) today announced details of Round 3 of the 2017 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series, scheduled to take place on July 8–9 at Fuji Speedway (length = 4.563 km) in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Round 3 will feature an official qualifying session based on a knock-out format, followed by a championship race of 55 laps (250.965 km). Fuji Speedway has Japan’s longest back straight, making it the ideal spot to enjoy head-to-head battles. To achieve the highest possible speeds, race cars need to reduce downforce and drag, but the sequence of corners in the back half of the course means drivers want more downforce to negotiate turns. Teams that set up their race cars to skillfully balance that contradiction stand a good chance of victory. After Round 1 at Suzuka and the two races in Round 2 at Okayama, Andre Lotterer (VANTELIN TEAM TOM’S), Kazuki Nakajima (VANTELIN TEAM TOM’S) and Yuhi Sekiguchi (ITOCHU ENEX TEAM IMPUL) each have one win under their belts. Naoki Yamamoto (TEAM MUGEN) and Hiroaki Ishiura (P.MU/CERUMO · INGING) also gained points in all of the first three races. Those five drivers currently occupy the top positions in the standings. All of this year’s rookies have also grabbed points, including a podium finish at Okayama for Nick Cassidy (KONDO RACING), suggesting there is more to come from the new drivers in the second half of the SUPER FORMULA season.
