To the Children of Washington, DC, October 9, 2009

his Fall, it is the privilege of my country, Sweden, to hold the European Union TPresidency. I am therefore very happy to present the second annual Kids Euro Festival, a wonderful way to bring together the best of children’s culture with the most talented European entertainers. We welcome children and families to a joyful celebration of the arts. For an entire month, the Washington Embassies of the European Union countries and cultural and educational institutions in DC will offer over 150 free, fun, family- friendly activities throughout the city. You will have the chance to see puppets and theater productions, hear music, watch movies, listen to stories and learn more about the cultures and traditions of the 27 European Union countries. So sit down with your parents and browse through this brochure. Find the performances and activities that most interest you and come visit us. This is one trip abroad that doesn’t require a passport. I look forward to welcoming you to Europe.

For Mark Tholke, we have to think big to change energy.

”As a Regional Director for enXco, the EDF EN subsidiary in the US, my focus is developing large-scale wind and solar projects that can power entire cities. Capturing the wind and sun provides an immediate solution to produce power without carbon emissions and deliver greater energy independence. More than 4,000 wind turbines were installed EDF 552 081 317 RCS PARIS, 75008 Paris – Photo : Geoffroy de Boismenu – : Geoffroy – Photo 75008 Paris PARIS, EDF 552 081 317 RCS in the US in 2008. With an additional 125,000 turbines we can achieve 20% of electricity produced nationwide by wind by 2030.”

EDF is committed to pursuing innovative, low-carbon energy options, including wind, solar and nuclear power, that will meet the growing demand for electricity, help rebuild the economy, and reduce global warming.
