Senator Kolkhorst authored Senate Bill 1107, a Pro-Life priority that would have uniformly protected the consciences of all health care providers. Unfortunately, the bill did not pass.

Senator Kolkhorst chaired the powerful Senate Committee on Health and Human Services where most Pro-Life measures are referred. In her position as head of the committee, she scheduled hearings on two Pro-Life priorities, SB 2089 and SB 1033, and heard riveting testimony on both bills. Her committee favorably voted on both bills, leading to their passage in the full Senate before being killed by House leadership.

Senator Kolkhorst also worked diligently in the conference committee on Senate Bill 1, the budget bill, to secure increased funding for the life-affirming Alternatives to Abortion Program.

Senator Kolkhorst is one of only two distinguished Texas Right to Life Pro-Life Heroes of the 86th Legislature.
