During this week we will have various virtual information points, including a virtual tour of the school, available via our website www.stcolmans.co.uk and also through our Facebook Page (St Colman’s High & Sixth Form College); staff will also be available to take telephone calls to give further detail and answer questions. RESPECTIVE FUNCTIONS OF THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS AND PRINCIPAL IN RELATION TO ADMISSIONS TO THE SCHOOL The Board of Governors draws up the admissions criteria and delegates to an Admissions Sub-Committee, which includes the Principal, the responsibility for applying these criteria. Any reference herein to the term the Board of Governors includes any Committee or Sub-Committee appointed by the Board of Governors for the purposes of applying the Admissions criteria set out herein ADMISSIONS CRITERIA FOR ENTRY INTO YEAR 8 IN ST COLMAN'S HIGH AND SIXTH FORM COLLEGE The following rules or criteria will apply if the number of applicants exceeds the number of places available. The criteria are set down in the order in which they apply. Priority will be given at all times to pupils regarded by the Board of Governors, on the basis of supporting evidence by parents and/or statutory agencies, as having special circumstances that can demonstrate why St Colman’s High & Sixth Form College is the most suitable school for their child. In the event of over-subscription in any one of the criteria, taken in order, priority will be given on the basis of proximity of home to school. 1 Pupils who reside in the parishes of Magheradroll, Dromara, Drumbo and Carryduff. 2 Pupils from these parishes who have brothers/sisters (half brothers/half sisters) presently enrolled here. 3 Pupils from other parishes who have brothers/sisters (half brothers/half sisters) presently enrolled. 4 Pupils whose parent/guardian is a permanent employee of the school. 5 Proximity of normal place of residence to front gate of school. NB It is the responsibility of the parents to ensure that the Transfer Application informs the school authority about any of the above relevant factors. DUTY TO VERIFY The Board of Governors reserves the right to require such supplementary evidence as it may determine to support or verify information on any applicant’s Transfer Application. If the requested evidence is not provided to the Board of Governors by the deadline given, this will result in the withdrawal of an offer of a place. Similarly, if information is supplied which appears to be false or misleading in any material way, the offer of a place will be withdrawn.
