The Davis 2000-01 Delaware State 16-14 years at Delaware State are highlighted by a MEAC Tournament championship and NCAA 2001-02 Delaware State 9-19 Tournament berth (2007), a MEAC regular season co-championship (2003-04) and five MEAC 2002-03 Delaware State 20-10 championship game appearances. 2003-04 Delaware State 21-9 2004-05 Delaware State 16-12 Davis further enhanced his credentials after a hard fought loss to No. 2 seed Vanderbilt in the 2005-06 Delaware State 21-9 th 2007 NCAA Tournament. His 15 seeded Hornets trailed by just four points at the half and by 2006-07 Delaware State 20-13 six with eight minutes left to the heavily favored Commodores. 2007-08 Delaware State 18-14 2008-09 Delaware State 6-9 th Now in his 17 season as a collegiate head coach, Davis surpassed the 300-win mark for his career and became Delaware State’s all-time leader in women’s basketball victories during the Career record: 318-163 (17th year) 2007-08 season. He owns a career record of 312-154, highlighted by nine seasons with 20-or- DSU record: 147-109 (Ninth year) more wins. At Bowie State: 171-54 (8 yrs.) MEAC record (reg. season): 98-45 Delaware State was 10-2 at home last season, giving the Lady Hornets a 69-21 mark at home MEAC Tournament: 12-7 under Davis (.770) . He led the team to a school-record 23 straight home wins from 2003-05. NCAA Tournament: 0-1 In addition, the 2007-08 Lady Hornets led the MEAC in scoring defense for the sixth straight Davis vs. 2008-09 opponents year, allowing 53.4 points-per-game. Bethune-Cookman 14-1 During the 2006-07 season, Davis led the Lady Hornets on a 13-2 late-season spurt, including a three-game MEAC Tournament sweep en route to the first league championship in team his- Cheney 6-0 tory. Coppin State 5-11 He was named MEAC Coach-of-the-Year after leading the Lady Hornets to a share of the Fairleigh Dickinson 1-1 school’s first conference regular season title during the 2003-04 season. Florida A&M 15-5 Davis also served as the university’s interim Director of Athletics during the 2004-05 academic Georgia State 0-1 year. Hampton 5-17 In the four years prior to Davis’ arrival, the Lady Hornets were 36-85, and failed to advance Howard 12-4 beyond the quarterfinals of the conference tourney. His tenure was highlighted by three Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) championships, three NCAA Tournament appear- Navy 3-3 ances, and numerous “coach of the year” awards. Norfolk State 17-12 No. Carolina A&T 11-3 Davis earned a number of awards for his success at Bowie, including CIAA Coach of the Year Northeastern 1-0 in 1995 and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association District II Coach of the Year in 198 and 1999.
