After breakfast walk 4 kilometres to the habitat of Beach via Brisbane wetlands, Bribie Island and Toorbul the very rare Rufous Scrub-bird. (This is an elusive species Wader roost. DAY SIX Early morning birding to look for any rainforest species we have missed then travel down Duck Creek Road to the Kerry Valley and the town of Beaudesert looking for open forest species including Red-browed Treecreeper, Buff-rumped, Yellow-rumped and Striated Thornbill, White-throated, Scarlet, Yellow-faced and White-naped Honeyeater, Glossy Black Cockatoo, Long-billed and Little Corella,Wedge-tailed Eagle, Nankeen Kestrel, Grey-crowned Babbler, Chestnut-breasted Mannikin, Speckled Warbler, Straw necked Ibis, Royal Spoonbill and Yellow-billed Spoonbill.

Return to Brisbane.

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch included Mammals that may be seen include Eastern Grey Kangaroo, Whip-tailed, Red-necked and Swamp Wallaby, Red-necked and Red-legged Pademelon, Koala, Platypus, Echidna, Black and Grey- headed Flying Fox, Common Ring-tailed, Short-eared and Common Brush-tailed Possums, Sugar Glider, Long-nosed and Northern Brown Bandicoot.

NB: Species listed in this itinerary are only some of the possible species and some of these birds are migrants and may not be in the area all year. Many Australian species are nomads and their presence in an area is dependent on weather conditions elsewhere. This makes birding in Australia unpredictable and therefore very interesting.
