Skype for Business at PSCC
Microsoft Skype for Business is a collaboration tool for instant messaging (IM), voice or video calls, and online meetings. Skype for Business is available for most computers and/or mobile devices, on campus or anywhere you have Internet access. If your computer has MS Office 2013 here at PSCC, then Skype for Business is already installed.
You can find Skype for Business on your Windows desktop here: Start menu -> All Programs -> Microsoft Office 2013

Getting Started:
Sign in to Skype for Business for the first time
1. At the Skype for Business sign in page, enter your PSCC user ID and then choose Sign in. For example, if you use [email protected] to sign in to Outlook, that's what you'll enter to sign in to Skype for Business:
2. Enter your PSCC password. 3. At the next page, if you want to save your password for signing in next time, choose Yes. 4. At the Help Make Skype for Business Better box, choose whether to allow Microsoft to collect error logs and device configuration info.
Congratulations! Now you're ready to use Skype for instant messaging, audio & video calls, collaborative web meetings and more.

Overview of Skype:
Skype for Business has three main windows:
This is the main window. It's where your contacts are listed--so it functions as the hub of all of your Skype for Business activities.
If you click the IM button , you'll get the conversation window.
Tip: You can also just double-click a contact's picture to open the conversation window and start an IM.

And this is the meeting window:
The left side panel has the participant list.

The right side panel has the presentation or shared desktop/window.
This window is also used during audio or video calls.

Setting your Online Status: Your online status is also called your ‘presence’:
These can be automatically set based on your activity on the computer or within Skype itself – for example, setting your status as “busy” while you are in a call or meeting. Skype can also set your status based on meetings you have scheduled in Outlook.
All of these setting can be found by clicking on the ‘Options’ button on the main Skype window.

Scheduling Meetings with Outlook:
You can send invitations to a Skype meeting through Outlook that will include a link to the meeting web space.

* If you do not see the “New Skype Meeting” button in your Outlook ribbon, click on the ‘File’ tab in and click on the ‘Slow and Disabled COM Add-ins’ button to see if Skype for Business is disabled.
