The Tigers’ fishing club wrapped up its second sea- son ever this past weekend in the Columbia High Bassmaster Classic at Rodman Reservoir. Ryan Padgett led the way, finishing the day in first place with a 16.45-pound total weight. The freshman also took home Big Bass honors with a 6.8-pound catch. Columbia’s Turner Crews (12.96 pounds) took sec- ond place, Seth Slanker (11.24 pounds) took third place during the season finale. Columbia’s Seth Slanker, Cason Griffin, Jackson Swisher, Ty Jackson and Josh Lewis finished the year top-five in points the team’s six tournaments. Columbia ended the year with 38 young anglers from the eight- grade ranks up to high school seniors. “We had a great second year,” team advisor Kevin Swisher said. “The club grew and we fished more tour- naments. We had a great showing of parents and spec- tators at our club tournaments. We’re looking forward to next year.” Columbia’s fishing team traveled to various locations this past season.
