• Drove strategic direction, concept refinement and capabilities for rapid expansion leading a successful IPO. • Architect of initial growth strategy, infrastructure and capability development. • Doubled business from 150-350 clinics, achieved 30+% comparative store growth, 3+ million visits and 2x sales through a disruptive clinic model. • Recruited public board of directors; created and managed board and its ongoing development. Elizabeth Arden—Red Door Spa Holdings, Phoenix, AZ/New York, NY President/CEO/Board of Directors, 2001-2006

• Built dynamic executive team including CFO, CMO, SVP HR, Design and Construction, and CIO. Named Portfolio CEO of the Year. • Dramatically improved financial position weakened by acquisition financing and shaky business climate. Grew sales from $167 million to $200 million (+18%), and increased EBITDA from $8.8 million to $14 million (+59%). • Created vision and developed strategic plan, operating programs and standards to maximize brand potential of Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, divested under-performing department stores growing margin from 33% to 39%. • Drove hotel and resort strategy working with developers to integrate Red Door Spa brand into both chain and independent developments (e.g. Westin, Marriott, Wigwam, Hyatt Bonaventure, Willard Hotel). • Redesigned store model to enhance the consumer experience and product sales, including layout, service mix, design and construction economics. • Recruited by financial backers to lead anticipated May 2000 IPO. • Hired and developed executive team. • Reversed $10 million loss position through improvement of catalog, internet operations, and corporate sales. • Led subsequent private company sale efforts.

Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX), Seattle, WA President, North American Operations, 1997-2000

• Recruited to drive operations and new initiatives, achieving meteoric growth from $400 million to 2.5 billion and from 4000 to 33,000 retail partners. • Managed full Retail North America P&L including retail marketing, product development, operations, finance, design and construction, and human resources. • Promoted to President, North American Operations ($3.0 billion, 9 direct reports), adding management of grocery/wholesale, internet/catalog, and partnerships with Pepsi-Cola, Dreyer’s, and Kraft. Acquired Tazo Tea, Pasqua, and Hear Music Inc., yielding an initial $85 million in top-line sales. • Led comprehensive growth assessment to identify new initiatives and to maintain 30+% expansion. • Rebuilt retail operations and standards, and grew store openings from 285 to 410 per year, increasing store count from 500 to 3000 stores in 2-1/2 years, comparable store sales from 3% to 7%. Four Seasons Hotels Ltd. (NYSE: FS), Toronto, Canada Executive Vice President: Operations/Management Committee, 1987-1997

• Built global sales, marketing, and reservations organizations from scratch integrating Regent Hotels in Asia and Europe (22 countries). • Crafted new management contract to increase owner contribution to marketing of contracted properties. • Drove launch of Four Seasons vacation ownership and operations (timeshare) business in Carlsbad and Scottsdale. • Directed North American and European Hotel Operations (30 hotels) and opened/staffed 10 new hotels. • Drove development of sales and marketing organization and expanded operating standards, supporting initial expansion of this leading luxury hospitality brand from 8 to 42 hotels, and from properties in 3 to 22 countries. • Grew brand awareness from 20% to 80% and achieved luxury brand leadership from being virtually unknown, eclipsing Ritz Carlton by the mid-1990s.
