SOUTH SHORE MUSIC CIRCUS 3 CAPE COD MELODY TENT SOUTH SHORE MUSIC CIRCUS 4 CAPE COD MELODY TENT From The EXECUTIVE PRODUCER… Welcome

In our 70 year history, we’ve seen quite an evolution in the live music and recording industries. Cassettes and CDs have come and gone, digital downloads had their heyday, concerts have become multi-media events, and conglomerates have formed. In the midst of industry upheaval, we’ve continued to be the heart of our communities, offering not only world-class live entertainment but a constant gathering place for friends and families.

Home is where your heart is. We’re pleased to welcome back many performers who consider our venues not just a stop on tour but a home away from home. Lee Brice, Melissa Etheridge, Jake Owen, Boz Scaggs are just a few of the many returning performers under the tents this summer. We hope to become a summer home to some of the new faces of the 2018 season including Chris Janson, Little River Band and Peter Cetera.

We’d like to thank our patrons for keeping their money where their heart is. You’ve made an investment in both a wonderful night out and in your community. We use proceeds from ticket sales to support non-profit arts and education organizations throughout Cape Cod and the South Shore. Local art and music classes, neighborhood sports teams and town libraries flourish because of you. In recent years, we’ve donated over $4 million. Thank you for embracing what makes our communities unique and supporting independent arts organizations. When you shop local you nurture community.

Our success is ensured by the many loyal members of our Inner Circle and Gold Circle Clubs. Our club members join for great benefits including ticket discounts, the opportunity to purchase tickets first, and white-glove treatment by our cheerful box office staff. They stay for the world class entertainment and the memories they make with friends and family. Check in at the box office or on our websites for additional details about joining us for the 2019 season.

Sincerely,

Vincent G. Longo CEO/Executive Producer

Chris Janson MUSIC CIRCUS: WITH SPECIAL GUEST DANIELLE BRADBERY SATURDAY, JUNE 9TH, 8:00 PM MELODY TENT: WITH SPECIAL GUEST ASHLEY MCBRYDE SUNDAY, JUNE 10TH, 8:00 PM

Warner Bros. Records/Warner Music country artist Chris Janson was born to entertain crowds. He just released his new “heart-piercing ballad” (People) “Drunk Girl” to country radio and it is already drawing praise from fans and critics alike. In November he earned his second No. 1 single with the summer anthem “Fix A Drink” from his sophomore Everybody. In 2015, Janson’s breakthrough No. 1 Platinum single “Buy Me A Boat” was the 7th bestselling country song of the year.

“Twenty-one year old, multi-faceted artist Danielle Bradbery steps out and into her own with new leading track, “Sway,” marking a new sound for Bradbery that infuses her pop, R&B, soul and country influences. Penned herself with co-writers Johan Fransson and Emily Weisband, this will be the first project where Bradbery has gotten to play a role in writing her songs, allowing her to find her own voice and share her own story.

Dubbed as one of ’s “Artists You Need To Know,” citing she’s “an Arkansas red-clay badass, with the swagger of Hank Jr. and the songwriting of ,” McBryde fearlessly lays it all on the line, and it’s that honest all-in approach that has led to NPR critic Ann Powers to ask if McBryde could be “among the first post-Stapleton country stars?” McBryde’s album will showcase an artistic vision that will prove her to be one of the genre’s keenest working storytellers, bringing unwavering honesty back into a pop-preoccupied genre.

An Evening with Melissa Etheridge MELODY TENT: FRIDAY, JUNE 15TH, 8:00 PM

Melissa Etheridge stormed onto the American rock scene in 1988 with the release of her critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, which led to an appearance on the 1989 Grammy Awards show. For several years, her popularity grew around such memorable originals as “Bring Me Some Water,” “No Souvenirs” and “Ain’t It Heavy,” for which she won a Grammy in 1992. Etheridge hit her commercial and artistic stride with her fourth album, Yes I Am (1993). The collection featured the massive hits, “I’m the Only One” and “Come to My Window,” a searing song of longing that brought Etheridge her second Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Performance. In 1995, Etheridge issued her highest charting album, Your Little Secret, which was distinguished by the hit single, “I Want to Come Over.”

“The have undoubtedly left their mark on the map. The Grammy nominated band’s fusion of melodic rock, pop, folk and country elements has helped pave the way for the modern rock of today. Fans around the world are very familiar with Gin Blossoms’ five-time Platinum breakthrough album New Miserable Experience, containing gems like “,” “,” “” and “.” Those hit tracks were followed up by the Empire Records Platinum Soundtrack hit, “.” In 1996, the singles “” and “” hit the radio again in a huge way, making their Congratulations I’m Sorry record another platinum success.

With six top 10 singles, over 4 million records sold, multiple Grammy nominations, platinum albums, hit songs around the world including the #1 most-played rock song of 1998, it is safe to say that Tonic is a musical powerhouse. Merging the raw honesty of rock with their unabashed melodies, Tonic have helped rock n roll into the new millennium. Many bands would be content with that sort of history. Tonic breaks the mold.

Vertical Horizon was founded in the early 1990s, but it was seven years before lead singer ’s songs became the radio hits that brought the popular grass roots band to national attention. Vertical Horizon released three albums independently (There and Back Again, Running on Ice, and ) and toured extensively before signing with RCA Records in 1998. In 1999, they released their breakout album, Everything You Want, which went on to sell more than two million copies. The second single off the CD, the title track “Everything You Want,” captured the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 and charts, and became Billboard’s Most Played Single of 2000. Having carved out a page in the annals of music history, the band garnered further radio attention with “You’re a God” (#4 on Billboard’s Adult Chart) and “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning).” In 2005, “Best I Ever Had” became a top 20 country hit for country star Gary Allan.

An Evening with Buddy Guy & Jonny Lang MUSIC CIRCUS: FRIDAY, JULY 27TH, 7:30 PM At age 81, Buddy Guy is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, a major influence on rock titans like , Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, a pioneer of Chicago’s fabled West Side sound, and a living link to the city’s halcyon days of electric blues. Buddy Guy has received 7 GRAMMY Awards, a 2015 Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY Award, 37 Blues Music Awards (the most any artist has received), the Billboard Magazine Century Award for distinguished artistic achievement, a Kennedy Center Honor, and the Presidential National Medal of Arts. Rolling Stone Magazine ranked him #23 in its “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.” It is hard to believe that at 36 years old Jonny Lang has already had a successful career for two decades. Easier to believe when you learn he released his first platinum record at 15— an age when many young people are just beginning to play music. Lie to Me revealed a talent that transcended the crop of blues prodigies floating around in the late Nineties. No flashy re-hasher of classic blues licks, even at that early age Lang was a full-blown artist with a style of his own. Also, setting Lang apart from the wunderkind crowd was a 15-year-old voice that sounded like a weathered soul shouter. Actual life experience was yet to come, and has been subsequently chronicled in a series of five uniformly excellent recordings.

When Motown’s Berry Gordy Jr. found out they had hustled a national “Tonight Show” appearance, he signed them without an audition to be the marquee act for the company’s Workshop Jazz label. That proved short-lived, and Stubbs’ powerhouse baritone lead and the exquisite harmonies of Fakir, Benson, and Payton started making one smash after another with the writing- producing trio Holland-Dozier-Holland.
