It is attached to a two-storey house, which is connected both internally and both have their own front doors. The pub main door is located at the centre of the property and leads into, on the right a Public Bar with pool area. To the left of the entrance is a Lounge Bar. Both rooms are connected by the servery, which has a galley style small kitchen in-between both rooms. There are Gents toilets in the Bar with Ladies toilets in the Lounge. I moved here when my husband decided to come back home. My husband was born and lived all his chilhood in Dormanstown. Dormanstown was built for the workers of the steel industry. Also building some of the countries first retirement homes. It makes no sense to me as a resident why the steel work site is been removed from dormanstown. Whilst removing the industry from what is already a deprived and poor ward why would you want to do this as it will only make the ward poorer and less funds available when the industry goes so does any section 106 money which can only help and support the ward. id like to see the ward back with its heritage in tact and 3 ward councillors as i believe our ward is best represented with 3 rather than 2 which will make things harder for me as they will have a bigger work load and less support. Also as a member of friends of westfield farm we have used funding from the councillors on a number of occasions in order for us to put on events for the community. Our biggest been last year when we opened up the 100yrs celebrations and are continuing with this. this year. i am sure if i had the time to write a petition there would be a high percentage of the residents sign it. • Fifteen Artefacts Brought in by Members of South Bank Local History Group. Group
Fifteen artefacts brought in by members of South Bank local history group. On Monday 20 May 2019, we asked members of South Bank Local History Group to bring in and discuss objects that they felt reflected different perspectives on the town. This book contains a selection of these objects accompanied by notes provided by the group. Black Path Press June 2019 #1 Photograph of Michael Mackin and colleagues at Balckow & Vaughan Steel Works Year: Circa 1900 Brought in by: Patrick Mackin Notes/Further Information: Patrick Mackin: ‘The reason why we’re here, the magnet that brought us all together, was the finding of iron in the Eston hills. So people came from Eastern Europe, they came from Scotland, they came from Cornwall, they came from Wales, I should imagine, mainly from Ireland. Like my Grandfather, Michael, the ironworks closed down near Witton Park and so they moved down, en masse on the train, and my father and my grandfather came to Upper Graham Street in South Bank. In the centre of this photograph is my grandfather who was the keeper of the furnace. I think this is around 1900. My grandad was a bright man, he invented a way of gauging the temperature without opening the furnace (which would cause the temperature to drop and thus be inaccurate). He submitted his plans to the management at Balckow and Vaughan, and although he was informed they were not acceptable – we believe they were used were in future developments. Sadly, we cannot prove this. It’s part of the family history, the ingenuity of ordinary men and I’m very proud of this photograph.

  • St Francis of Assisi Parish Church, Ingleby Barwick
St Francis of Assisi, Ingleby Barwick Parish Profile BARWICK WAY, INGLEBY BARWICK, STOCKTON-ON-TEES, TS17 0WD https://stfrancisib.org) 0 A message from the Rt Revd Paul Ferguson, Bishop of Whitby Thank you for your interest in the post of Vicar of Ingleby Barwick. Although Ingleby Barwick’s name reveals that there has been a settlement here for a thousand years, as you will see from the profile, today’s community is less than 50 years old, and still growing. There is a sense that it is continuing to establish its own social and civic identity, in which the role of the Church of England has a significant part to play — not least through the presence of our church primary and secondary academies. St Francis’, then, is the worshipping and serving hub for the whole community. That is reflected in the breadth of its style, at the core of which is the main Sunday eucharistic celebration. Alongside that well-established principle, the appointment of a Multiply minister (see the relevant page of the profile) has been a major step in diversifying our pattern of mission. The energy of St Francis’ worshipping life overflows into many other activities. Ingleby Barwick is an exciting place to be. There has been excellent strategic leadership during the time of its last incumbent, and scope for the parish — the largest by population in this archdeaconry — to move on further. If you come as our next vicar, you will find able lay leadership, a strong ethos of spiritual formation among worshippers, and potential to explore developments for the future.
