HILLWALKING – THE COBBLER There are many long and short distance walks as well as cycle paths in the Loch Lomond, Trossachs and Clyde Sea Lochs area. Whether a half or full day walk or a longer stay, here is a suggestion for a day out incorporating a walk and, if time permits, a leisurely cruise from Tarbet. • Drive or travel by train with ScotRail from Glasgow Queen Street to Arrochar/Tarbet Drive or make your way on foot to Succoth, heading west on the A83, just past Arrochar you’ll find the Arrochar Alps car park. (Parking charges apply). You will also pass the head of Loch Long where you can enjoy spectacular views towards the Firth of Clyde • Climb The Cobbler The Cobbler, or Ben Arthur to give it it’s proper name, is one of the best- known mountains in Scotland and is part of the Arrochar Alps. It’s by no means the highest peak in this range, but the challenge comes in the form of threading the needle at the north summit. Take time to capture the ‘instagrammable’ moments at the peak. The climb and descent will take 4 to 6 hours depending on your pace. Be sure to dress according to the weather conditions. As Billy Connolly famously said, ‘In Scotland, there’s no such thing as bad weather just the wrong clothes’ • Cruise Loch Lomond If time permits after your descent, head back round to Tarbet, to take a tour of Loch Lomond aboard one of Cruise Loch Lomond's fleet of vessels. Whet your appetite for loch adventures with a cruise to Inversnaid on the east side of Loch Lomond where you can enjoy a completely different perspective of the loch. You can return to Tarbet on one of the scheduled services or do a circular tour and soak up the scenery whilst you relax following your climb. Please check the Cruise Loch Lomond website for details on availability and to book. Head homewards to Glasgow Queen Street from Tarbet station or by car and start planning your next visit to Loch Lomond. ‘Bag’ another munro, or plan a longer stay around a long distance walk. • Eat Out in Loch Lomond Take time to enjoy our wonderful selection of restaurants, cafes and bars Eat out in Loch Lomond in and around Loch Lomond, serving the best of local Scottish food and drink. You can find out more here. Why not extend your visit and stay for a short break – visit Places to Stay for lots of inspiration. .
