Idaho Legislature Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee State Capitol Room 305 Boise, ID 83720 (208) 334 - 4735 DATE: February 3, 2011 SENATE FINANCE …………………….. TO: Senator John W. Goedde, Chairman, Senate Education Committee Dean Cameron Chairman Representative Bob Nonini, Chairman, House Education Committee Shawn Keough Vice Chairman FROM: Senator Dean L. Cameron, Chairman, Senate Finance Committee Representative Maxine T. Bell, Chairman House Appropriations Joyce Broadsword Committee Steven Bair Bert Brackett SUBJECT: Recommendations for FY 2012 Appropriation for Public Schools Dean Mortimer Please extend our heartfelt thanks to your committee members for making the Lee Heider commitment to join the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee for the budget Mitch Toryanski hearings last week. Your willingness to work together on budgetary priorities during these challenging economic times will provide support to JFAC, and hopefully together Diane Bilyeu we will provide the best possible educational opportunities for all of Idaho’s Nicole LeFavour schoolchildren. Although the Governor’s initial General Fund recommendation for Public Schools did HOUSE APPROPRIATIONS not include additional cuts – it was too optimistic considering the recent news that we …………………….. have received about revenues. We are sure you understand that once the Legislature Maxine Bell takes into consideration the reduction of projected General Fund revenues due to federal Chairman tax conformity, unanticipated sales tax credits for alternative energy, and the erosion of Darrell Bolz last year’s surplus; it is necessary to ask our germane committees to consider policy and Vice Chairman programmatic changes that support a lower spending level for FY 2012. George Eskridge The Co-Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of JFAC have identified a range of between $50 Fred Wood million to $81 million below what the Governor recommended at $1,235,893,600 for Jim Patrick Public Schools in FY 2012.

  • Review and Discussion Regarding the 2017 Legislative Session with Possible Direction to Staff. (For Possible Action)
AGENDA ITEM# 12 SUN VALLEY GENERAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT DATE: 2-3-17 TO: Board of Trustees FROM: Darrin Price – General Manager SUBJECT: Review and discussion regarding the 2017 Legislative Session with possible direction to staff. (for possible action). Every two years the Nevada Legislature meets. 2017 is here and it’s that time again. In 2014, the District cancelled its Lobbying contract with Fred Hillerby. At that time the total expenses for the lobbying contract was $1,650.00 dollars a month year round (as to include committee meetings that can and do meet when the session is closed and networking). In February of 2015, the board unanimously approved the General Manager “to act in the lobbying capacity” for the District. Per this direction I have started to assemble a team to assist me with monitoring, tracking, networking, and attending sessions, committee meetings, and general networking to establish relationships with both legislators and their staff. I registered myself, Jennifer, and Maddy as paid lobbyist for this session. The cost to register is $300.00 dollars per person, a total of $900.00 dollars. As a registered lobbyist you can track 10 bills via NELLIS. NELLIS is the Nevada Electronic Legislative Information System. It allows for PLT: What is Personalized Legislative Tracking (PLT)? · PLT allows you to subscribe to BDRs, bills, and budgets that are of interest to you, and subsequently tag and create notes on your subscriptions. · The advantage of PLT is that you will receive immediate notifications of hearings, a daily status notification, and have access to tailored, exportable reports for the subscriptions you have chosen to track.

  • The Twenty-Sixth Legislature Regular Session of 20 II HOUSE OF
The Twenty-Sixth Legislature Regular Session of20II HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Committee on Health Rep. Ryan 1. Yamane, Chair Rep. Dee Morikawa, Vice Chair State Capitol, Conference Room 329 Tuesday, March 22, 2011; 9:00 a.m. STATEMENT OF THE ILWU LOCAL 142 ON S.B.1086, SD1 RELATING TO CONSUMER INFORMATION The ILWU Local 142 strongly supports S.B. 1086, SD1, which requires sliced, sandwich-style bread products that have been baked and then frozen to be labeled "previously frozen" and prohibits bread that has been frozen to be labeled or advertised as "fresh." The II.WU represents almost 300 members who work at Love's Bakery in production, driver-sales, office clerical work, and the thrift stores. Many ofthem have worked at the bakery for many years under various owners. Today, the company is owned and managed by a local team that invested its own money to keep this manufacturing company viable. For 160 years, Love's Bakery has put fresh sandwich bread on our table. It was only in the last decade that previously frozen bread took over a greater share ofthe market. However, the consumer was never informed that the previously frozen bread was baked on the mainland, then frozen and later thawed before sale. The consumer did not have the information needed to make an informed choice. This lack ofinformation has given previously frozen bread an unfair advantage over fresh bread. S.B. 1086, SDI will require that packaging ofpreviously frozen and thawed sliced, sandwich-style bread be imprinted with the words "previously frozen." With this information, consumers can ask their own questions, then make an informed decision about which bread to purchase.
