LUCIE, FL Monday, March 13, 2017 – 1:10 p.m. TODAY’S GAME: The Marlins head north today to take on the Mets at First Data Field at 1:10 p.m. It is the fourth of eight meetings this spring between the Clubs, with the Mets holding a 3-0 edge thus far. TODAY’S PITCHING LINEUP RHP Severino González TODAY’S STARTING PITCHER: Right-hander Severino González will make the start for Miami today. He is 1-0 and has LHP Kyle Lobstein yet to allow a run over 5.0 innings (4 G, 1 GS) this spring, with two hits allowed, two walks, and four strikeouts. He last RHP Nick Wittgren pitched on March 9 in relief against the Nationals in West Palm Beach (1.0 ip, so); his only start was on March 4 in Kis- LHP Kelvin Marte simmee against the Braves (W, 2.0 ip, h, 2 bb). LHP Hunter Cervenka LOOKING AHEAD: The Marlins return to Jupiter tomorrow afternoon to host the Detroit Tigers at Roger Dean Stadium. It will be the first of four meetings between the Clubs this spring: Miami travels to Lakeland on March 18, and they play back-to-back games on March 31 and April 1 here in Jupiter to close out the Grapefruit League slate. YESTERDAY’S GAME: Miami rallied for four runs in the bottom of the ninth to force a 9-9 tie with the Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium. JT Riddle (2x2, 2 rbi) started the ninth-inning scoring with an RBI-single, Brian Anderson followed with an RBI-double, and Destin Hood followed Anderson with a sac fly. After consecutive walks loaded the bases, the tying run scored on a wild pitch, but Yefri Pérez struck out to end the game one pitch later. Marcell Ozuna (1x2, r, hr, 2 rbi) and Matt den Dekker (1x1, 2 r, hr, rbi, bb) each homered for the Fish. Brad Ziegler made his Miami debut, tossing a perfect fifth inning (so). CURRENT ROSTER: Miami has 55 players in Major League camp, including 39 members of the 40-man roster and 16 non-roster invitees. The roster con- sists of 28 pitchers (6 NRIs); 18 right-handers (four NRIs) and 10 left-handers (two NRIs). There are six catchers (two NRIs), 11 infielders (four NRIs) and 10 outfielders (four NRIs). FISH ROCKING THE WBC: The Miami Marlins are making their mark on the World Baseball Classic this spring. Martín Prado, playing for Venezuela, be- came the first player in WBC history to have a five-hit game in Saturday’s 11-10, 10-inning victory over Italy in Jalisco. Among Prado’s five hits (two doubles) and three RBI was a game-winning RBI-double in the 10th. He followed that up yesterday with a 2x4 outing and two RBI against Mexico. Meanwhile, in Miami, Christian Yelich was 2x4 with a double and an RBI in a 7-5 loss by the United States against the Dominican Republic on Saturday, then 2x5 with two runs scored in yesterday’s 8-0 win over Canada to clinch a spot in Pool F play in San Diego beginning tomorrow. Prado is batting .538 for the tournament, with three doubles and five RBI, while Yelich is batting .500 with two doubles and an RBI; entering yesterday’s games, they ranked third and fourth in the WBC in batting, respectively (official WBC stats were not updated through Sunday’s games at print time). WBC ROCKED MIAMI: First-round World Baseball Classic action in Miami was a big success last week. A total of 163,878 fans attended the six games held at Marlins Park, an average of 27,313 per game. There were two sellouts: the Dominican Republic/United States game on Saturday night (37,446) and the Dominican Republic/Colombia game on Sunday (36,952). The attendance for the DR/US game on Saturday set a Marlins Park record. ALL-STAR GAME COMES TO MIAMI: The Marlins will host the Midsummer Classic for the first time in club history when the Midsummer Classic comes to Marlins Park on July 11. All-Star week festivities will begin on July 7 and continue through the final weekend of the first half and into the All-Star break. FanFest will kick off at the Miami Beach Convention Center on July 7 and run through July 11; Marlins Park will host All-Star Sunday on July 9, featuring the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game and the All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game; the T-Mobile Home Run Derby will take place at Marlins Park on July 10; and the week will conclude with the 88th MLB All-Star Game on July 11. YOUR RADIO HOME FOR MARLINS’ BASEBALL: Once again in 2017 the Marlins home on the radio dial will be WINZ 940 AM, which will broadcast all 162 games in the regular season and 15 Spring Training contests. In addition, all 162 regular season and 15 Spring Training games can be heard on 940’s partner station, 94.9 HD2 in 2017. Hall of Fame broadcaster Dave Van Horne and Glenn Geffner will return to the broadcast booth for their 10th season together. For all Spanish listeners, Hall-of-Famer Felo Ramirez and Yiky Quintana will call all 162 regular season games in what is the duo’s 16th season together, and 10th on the Marlins flagship Spanish station, WAQI 710 AM. In addition to select games on the Marlins Radio Network, fans will also have the opportunity to listen to 10 games exclusively on MLB.com. FOX SPORTS FLORIDA BROADCAST INFORMATION: This season, the Marlins will have 150 games broadcast by FOX Sports Florida, all of which will be available in HD. The 2017 campaign kicks off on April 3rd, when the Fish pay a visit to the Washington Nationals. The home opener will be April 11th, when the Marlins host the Atlanta Braves at 7:10pm. Rich Waltz will call all the action alongside former Marlins’ outfielder Todd Hollandsworth; they will be joined throughout the season by Preston Wilson, Craig Minervini and Jessica Blaylock, as well as former Marlin Jeff Conine.
