Core Areas of Research: My background is in international relations. Since my PhD I have worked on two themes: the role of companies / markets in international politics and the development of sociological approaches to international politics. My work still combines these interests. My current research projects revolve around the role of commercial security (in relation to multilateral military interventions http://sites.brunel.ac.uk/4mi), sociological approaches to expertise and public knowledge (in the context of conflict research and its link to policy practice http://cric.ku.dk/) and they are combined in my current work on the regulation of commercial security (in the context of the Centre for the Politics of Transnational Law www.ceptl.org and COST action 1003 www.cost.eu/domains_actions/isch/Actions/IS1003 ). The focus on public knowledge and expertise in my recent work has brought me to engage extensively with science and technologies studies and new materialisms.
