Mr. Welter graduated from the University of Georgia in 1961 with a B.S. in Chemistry and Biology. After graduating, Dave moved to Augusta, Georgia where he received his Masters Degree in Anatomy (1962). He became the first Ph.D student to enroll at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) and graduated with that degree in 1970. In 1962, he started the first Chromosome Laboratory in the state of Georgia at Gracewood Hospital.

After retiring in 2000, he was able to concentrate all his efforts on his art. He uses mostly local area woods and finds many of his logs and stumps on the side of the road or at construction sites. He looks for the inner beauty in each piece of wood and lets the wood dictate the final design.

One of his best works of art is the Wall of Faith Mural in the fellowship 551,953 Total Passengers Served in 2012 area of Augusta First Baptist Church. Advertising Goes High Tech at

Augusta Regional A CORPORATE PUBLICATION BY THE AUGUSTA REGIONAL AIRPORT Airport Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) partnered with one of the nation’s top three airport advertising firms, Departure Media. This partnership promises to bring local area businesses unique opportunities for promoting their brand message in the airport.

By partnering with Departure Media, Augusta Regional Airport is now the first regional facility to offer businesses the opportunity to advertise with a state of the art digital advertising program. Departure Media installed eight large screen monitors throughout the terminal to insure visibility by the 500,000+ passengers traveling through AGS each year.

“We look forward to a very successful partnership with the Airport” said Leslie Bensen, Departure Media President “also to a new generation of advertising opportunity for the community and Augusta Regional Airport passengers.”

Augusta Regional Airports’ Executive Director, Gary LeTellier said “We are excited about the installation of the new advertising technology. It will provide great opportunities for local companies to help connect with our passengers to show what our community has to offer.”

On July 31, voters from Georgia Region 7 approved a $538,965,884 Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST). Augusta Regional Airport Region 7 was one of only 3 regions around the state to approve the new TSPLOST program. The special tax will be collected to to Receive $8.4 Million in fund much needed road repairs and transportation infrastructure projects throughout the region. Augusta Regional Airport will receive $8,400,400 from the TSPLOST Funds! fund to renovate the airfield’s ramp pavement. AGS’s Ramp Rehab project will be one of the first projects funded by the TSPLOST monies. The airfield ramp was last renovated in the late 1970’s. The airport has made this project a top priority in order to insure the integrity of the ramp area and the safety of airport users. We would like to take a moment to thank all of the men and women who serve our country!

On November 9th Augusta Regional Airport partnered with local Marines to celebrate the 237th Birthday of the Marine Corps. A traditional ceremony took place in the Aviation Commission Chambers. The Ceremony commenced with the Senior Marine, MSgt William Regan, calling the ceremony to order as well as the reading of the history of the Ceremony. Cpl. Don Stock and Sgt. Duggan also read messages and orders from the Marine Corps. At the cake cutting ceremony Sgt. Duggan presented Cpl. Stock with “These Soldiers don’t get too many opportunities to spend quality a sword. Cpl. Stock then cut the cake and presented the first slice time with their families during the holiday season,” said First to the oldest Marine, MSgt. Regan, who, in turn, presented it to the Lieutenant (1LT) Martinez. “After this break they will return refreshed youngest Marine, LCpl. Howe. The passing of the cake symbolizes to go on to do bigger and better things for our beloved country the old and experienced Marines passing their knowledge to the anytime and anywhere.” 1LT Martinez also took the time to thank new generation of Marines. We would like to thank all Marines who the Augusta Regional Airport personnel on behalf of the Signal serve our country and wish them a Happy Birthday! Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon’s Commanding General for the support and attention this holiday season to our most valuable asset in our military, “The Soldier”.

AGS, in conjunction with Fort Gordon military representatives, worked to prepare for this holiday exodus. AGS provided data ports for internet communications, hospitality suites for the Soldiers awaiting their flights and a seamless check in process affording our Soldiers plenty of time to arrive at their departure gates. Airport Travelers A CORPORATE PUBLICAAnnualTION BY THE A UGUSTAirportA REGIONAL AIRPOR T The 2012 holiday season was celebrated in a big way at Augusta Regional Airport! The airport extends a huge thank you to Cudos for Pig Roast! their help in bringing Christmas to life in the airport’s commercial and general aviation terminals. Cudos of Augusta decorated the airport with beautiful Christmas trees, garland, and topiaries to provide color and light to the terminals.

You could also hear Christmas music echoing through the airport during the holiday season. From December 17th through December 24th local area musicians serenaded travelers with the joyous songs of the season. Performances were held daily at 9 am, 2 pm, and 6 pm in the main terminal building’s gate area.

A big thank you to the entertainers that participated in this year’s mini concerts, including: Amy Lee, Garden City Chorus, K. Gordon, Bill Karp, Josh Whiting, Josh Mellot, Jimmy Doc Easton, Eryn Eubanks, Dennis Campbell, John Hobbs, and Tom Rogers.

Every year our Director, Gary LeTellier, provides a pig for the annual employees Christmas lunch. And every year some of the guys from the Maintenance Department pull an all-nighter in order to roast the pig. This year Steve Webber, Robert Jenkins, Nathan Williams, and Jeff West were the gracious volunteers. Thanks guys! The rest of the employees brought covered dishes for everyone to enjoy and a good time was had by all. A CORPORATE PUBLICATION BY THE AUGUSTA REGIONAL AIRPORT This quarter the Kudos Corner spotlights the TSA agents, Deputy Steve Hammond, David and Tori with Republic Parking, and the AGS construction project team. In Early November Mr. Smith arrived back to Augusta to find that his car had a flat tire. David Proskosa, with Republic Parking, went above Jonathan Long of Evans Georgia wanted to extend a big thank and beyond by changing Mr. Smith’s flat tire. Mr. Smith wanted to thank you to the TSA agents who assisted him in October. Mr. Long forgot David for his assistance and for going out of his way to help him. to remove his Leatherman multi-tool from his backpack prior to going through security screening. He was asked to remove the tool and place it in his car. Since his wife had dropped him off, he was told he would have to abandon the tool or dispose of it. One of the agents graciously offered to return it to his home so he would not have to lose it.

Augusta Regional Airport’s Republic Parking cashier Tori received a 97% score on a “mystery shopper” report. The AGS parking concession is “shopped” monthly by a mystery customer. Unknown to the Republic employees, the mystery shopper evaluates their performance on customer service, proper uniforms, working order of equipment, and overall friendliness. The mystery shopper was very impressed with Tori and commented that she was “very friendly and professional.”
