Directions to Village Hall

Flaunden is a rural village and is approached via lanes rather than major roads. Sat navs and Google maps will tend to direct you along the shortest route which is often via the narrowest and most winding of these lanes.

The area around Flaunden is popular with cyclists, horse riders and walkers so please be aware of these other road users.

The following pages give directions to the hall from:

via Chipperfield • via Latimer • M25 Junction 18 via Latimer • M25 Junction 20 via (suggested route for lorries, avoiding single track lanes) • M1 Junction 7/8 via and Bovingdon

We recommend that you follow these directions rather than sat nav. The hall does not have a postcode but HP3 0PP is adjacent to the hall.

Directions to Flaunden Village Hall version 1 1 From Chipperfield or Bovingdon down Flaunden Lane

1 From Bovingdon go along Chipperfield Road From Chipperfield go along Tower Hill towards Chipperfield. towards Bovingdon.

2 At the crossroads turn right down Flaunden At the crossroads past Wyvale Garden Lane (signposted Flaunden). Centre turn left down Flaunden Lane (signposted Flaunden).

3 Follow for one mile. Carry straight on at the crossroads at The Bricklayers Arms and up the hill to Flaunden Village.

4 Carry straight on at the crossroads in centre of village.

5 Flaunden Village Hall is 100 yards on the left .

From Little Chalfont

1 Turn left off A404 Amersham Road onto Stony Lane , just after the national speed limit sign.

2 At the crossroads at the bottom of the lane, go straight ahead towards Latimer .

3 Go over the bridge and follow road through Latimer, the roads bears slightly right and then goes along the valley for about a mile (the road is now called Flaunden Hill).

4 Carry on up the hill to Flaunden Village .

5 At the top the road bears to the right, then to the left. Take these corners slowly as it's very difficult to see cars coming, or for them to see you. Go past the Green Dragon pub.

6 At the crossroads in the centre of the village turn right .

7 Flaunden Village Hall is 100 yards on the left.

If you reach the Bricklayer's Arms, then you've turned the wrong way at the crossroads! Turn around and drive straight ahead to reach the hall.

Directions to Flaunden Village Hall version 1 2 From Sarratt via Chipperfield

1 Head north-west out of Sarratt on The Green towards Chipperfield.

2 At Belsize do not turn onto Bragmans Lane or Flaunden Lane as the lane is single track with few passing places (they do go to Flaunden and sat navs may try and send you this way).

3 Road becomes Poles Hill then Dunny Lane .

4 At the crossroads in Chipperfield by the KIA garage turn left onto Tower Hill towards Bovingdon.

5 At the crossroads past Wyvale Garden Centre turn left down Flaunden Lane (signposted Flaunden).

6 Follow for one mile. Carry straight on at the crossroads at The Bricklayers Arms and up the hill to Flaunden Village.

7 Carry straight on at the crossroads in centre of village.

8 Flaunden Village Hall is 100 yards on the left .

Directions to Flaunden Village Hall version 1 3 From Chorleywood

1 Turn left onto the A404 Amersham Road either at the top of Green Street or Common Road.

2 Turn right towards Chenies (the road is called Latimer Road but there is no sign giving the name).

3 Follow road through Chenies past the Bedford Arms.

4 Ignore your sat nav when it tells you to turn right as you're starting to leave the village. The turning is quite hidden and the single track lane beyond (Chenies Hill) is very winding and rough in places, although it will take you to Flaunden. *

5 At the cross roads turn right onto Stony Lane towards Latimer .

6 Go over the bridge and follow road through Latimer, the roads bears slightly right and then goes along the valley for about a mile (the road is now called Flaunden Hill).

7 Carry on up the hill to Flaunden Village .

8 At the top the road bears to the right, then to the left. Take these corners slowly as it's very difficult to see cars coming, or for them to see you. Go past the Green Dragon pub.

9 At the crossroads in the centre of the village turn right .

10 Flaunden Village Hall is 100 yards on the left.

If you reach the Bricklayer's Arms, then you've turned the wrong way at the crossroads! Turn around and drive straight ahead to reach the hall.

*If you do turn onto Chenies Hill then you have two options: 1. Go over the hump back bridge then turn around at Roberts Farm and turn right back onto Latimer Road. 2. Go over the hump back bridge then keep following the lane up the hill. Take it slowly as there is limited visibility of oncoming vehicles or horses. As you approach Flaunden you will pass the RAF Radar station (big golf ball on a stick) on your left. Keep following the lane as it bends to the right and left. Go past the fields and the hall is on your right.

Directions to Flaunden Village Hall version 1 4 From M25 Junction 18 via Latimer

1 From the south (M40, M4, M3) take M25 From the north (M1, M11) take M25 clockwise towards . anticlockwise towards Heathrow.

2 Exit M25 at Junction 18 (signposted Exit M25 at Junction 18 (signposted Chorleywood). Chorleywood).

3 At top of slip road turn left at the lights onto At top of slip road turn right at the lights A404 towards Amersham onto A404 towards Amersham .

4 Pass a Shell Garage 50 yds on your right and straight on at the next two sets of lights.

5 Continue on the A404 for approx 2 miles. You will pass St Clement Danes school on your left then in another 600 yards turn right towards Chenies (the road is called Latimer Road but there is no sign giving the name).

2 Exit M25 at Junction 20 (signposted Kings Exit M25 at Junction 20 (signposted Kings Langley). Langley).

4 Over mini roundabout into village- turn left after pedestrian lights into Langley Hill.

5 Sharp bend to right at top of hill then at crossroads turn left into Chipperfield Road.

6 In approx. 1¾ miles turn right at Spice House/Kia Garage into Tower Hill.

7 In just over one mile turn left into Flaunden Lane (narrow lanes).

8 Follow for one mile. Carry straight on at the crossroads at The Bricklayers Arms and up the hill to Flaunden Village.

9 Carry straight on at the crossroads in centre of village.

10 Flaunden Village Hall is 100 yards on the left .

Directions to Flaunden Village Hall version 1 6 Travelling from M1 Junction 7/8 via Hemel Hempstead and Bovingdon

Sat navs and Google maps will try to send you via Felden which is a single track lane with few passing places. Coming via Bovingdon is an easier drive.

1 Exit M1 at Junction 7/8 onto the A414 (signposted Hemel Hempstead).

2 Follow signs to Hemel Hempstead going straight on at several roundabouts and traffic lights.

3 You will reach the Plough Roundabout which is actually several mini roundabouts. Go in a clockwise direction and exit at the fourth mini roundabout onto Station Road (signposted to Bovingdon/Hemel Hempstead station). Do not exit at the third mini roundabout as this will take you via Felden which is a single track lane with few passing places.*

4 Turn right at the next roundabout onto A4251 .

5 Go straight ahead at the next roundabout (by Hemel Hempstead station) and under the railway bridge.

6 There are two sets of traffic lights in quick succession. At the second set of lights turn left towards Bovingdon (Box Lane). Sat navs may direct you to turn left at the first set of lights but this is also via Felden.

7 Go up the hill for about 2 miles until you reach Bovingdon .

8 Turn left at the double roundabout onto Bovingdon High Street (signposted Chipperfield ).

9 Go through the village and carry straight on for about a mile towards Chipperfield (High Street becomes Chipperfield Road).

10 At the crossroads turn right down Flaunden Lane (signposted Flaunden).

11 Follow for one mile. Carry straight on at the crossroads at The Bricklayers Arms and up the hill to Flaunden Village.

12 Carry straight on at the crossroads in centre of village.

13 Flaunden Village Hall is 100 yards on the left .

Directions to Flaunden Village Hall version 1 7 Travelling from M1 Junction 7/8 cont.

*If you do leave at the third mini roundabout (onto Two Waters Road) then turn right at the crossroads traffic lights onto the A4251, then straight ahead at the next roundabout. Continue following the directions from step 5 above.

** If you do take the road to Felden then there are two options:

1. Turn around and go via Bovingdon (recommended)

2. Go up the hill. At the Y junction turn right onto Felden Lane (single track with few passing places). Carry on for about 1.4 miles. At the crossroads go straight ahead onto Flaunden Lane. Continue following the directions from step 11 above.
