The 16,900-sq. ft park is concrete and is open to inline skates, skateboards, scooters and BMX bikes. Come and test your skills on its features like the 8ft. deep Liberty Bowl, 7 Stair Gap, 4.5 ft. high Ledge, or 3.5 ft. high volcano. There are also quarter pipes, grind rails,spines, hips and gaps to challenge every skater or biker. The facility is open for anyone older than age 5. The scenes include , parks, rural vistas, and woodland settings. The im- agery also is varied; sometimes stark, sometimes colorful, yet all evocative of a sea- son we love and hate. A PLACE FOR ALL PEOPLE: INTRODUCING THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY AND CULTURE (through April 2017): a commemorative exhibit celebrating the opening of the Smithsonian’s newest museum; based on the in- augural exhibitions of the museum, the posters highlight key artifacts that tell the rich and diverse story of the African American experience. The famous Frederick Douglass daguerreotype will be returning from the University of Rochester to be featured in the exhibit. Our curators are combing through the collections and archives to highlight the influence of Frederick Douglass on CNY region. DOWNTON COMES DOWNTOWN: WHAT THE FASHIONABLE WORE IN ONONDAGA COUNTY FROM 1900 TO 1930 (through August 2017): Resembling the clothing styles portrayed in the critically acclaimed PBS series, Downton Abbey, featuring men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing worn by citizens of Onondaga County from 1900 to 1930; exhibit is augmented by fashion accessories such as hats, shoes, and purses as well as period furniture from OHA’s collection. SYRACUSE SNAPSHOTS: A LOOK AT STYLE, SOUND AND INNOVATION: curated by students from the Institute of Technology from the Syracuse City School District; highlights just barely scratch the surface of Syracuse’s accomplishments and cultural develop- ment as it relates to national trends in fashion, sports clothing and music, as well as technological achievements. Syracuse is the birth place of many inventions such as the Stearns Bicycle, L.C Smith typewriter, the shot clock, synthetic penicillin, and the Bran- nock device. Syracuse has maintained a thriving fashion scene over the years hosting annual fashion shows such as the Ebony Fashion Fair and WHEN-TV fashion luncheon, dating back to the 1950s. Syracuse is also an exceptional musical hub, hosting some of the longest running music festivals in the Northeastern U.S., as well as a diverse music scene of musicians and genres. PERMANENT EXHIBITS: Freedom Bound: Syracuse & the Underground Railroad and Syracuse China: Fired Forms of the American Experi- ence. The most extensive is Onondaga County: The Heart of New York which consists of five major theme areas: Birth of a County, Power of the People, Crossroads of New York, Architecturally Speaking, & Making A Living.
