• Only 2% of the Yamuna river stretch falls in Delhi but it contributes for the 70% of total organic pollution load • Supporting DSIIDC in providing an expert assessment on the new common wastewater treatment plant is the major task • Establishment of a Zero Liquid Discharge wastewater treatment plant in the proposed site area of 6730 m2 considering environmental protection and minimizing fresh water requirement • Major step towards sustainable industrial production at Patparganj Industrial Area is to maintain a sustainable environment with minimum ecological impact Proposed site for the CWWTP at Patparganj Industrial Area

Approach Followed

• Zero Liquid Discharge wastewater treatment plant is proposed to be established • Membrane Biological treatment with Moving Bed Bio Reactor (MBBR) - secondary treatment considering lower area requirement and improved organics removal efficiency • Build, Own, Operate, Transfer (BOOT) business model most suitable for such projects • The design and implementation mechanism ensures efficient wastewater treatment and reuse • The Common Wastewater Treatment Plant (CWWTP) society will act as a nodal agency in case any future deviations from the desired and expected performance levels

Advantages of Implementation of ZLD System

• Most of the wastewater treatment plants in Delhi region are discharging untreated or partially treated wastewater due to poor operation and maintenance • Establishment of ZLD facility ensures wastewater treatment and also eliminates excessive ground water pumping by industries • The reused water is a potential water source for industries, and uniform water quality parameters is an added advantage • ZLD facility promises two way advantage of effective wastewater management and reduced fresh water consumption
