A typical day in the bush

– Into the bush 05h30 – 08h30m, return from game viewing for a hearty breakfast – Conference activities, day trips, read a book at the pool, bird watching, navel contemplation! – 16h30 game viewing and sundowners – 19h30pm dinner: in the bush, in the boma, chat around the bar, at the fire, listen to the night sounds. 6

good to know

• One free (3 hour) game drive per day is included in your room rate. Additional game drives cost ZAR 300 pp. (approx. US$ 30) • Children must be 5 and older to go on game drives • You can book game drives a day in advance. • Guests are taken out by a game ranger and a tracker, on foot (if you like, and if the grass is not too high) or in open Off Road Vehicles. • Game drives are either early in the morning, with bush coffee, returning later for a hearty breakfast, or, • late afternoon with sundowners, returning later for dinner. • There is a lot to do in the area, you decide your own action: relaxation ratio! • Ideas include a famous astronomy observatory, a predator park, world heritage archaeological sites, Cheetah farm ( a wild animal rehabilitation centre) • Transfer from the lodge after the conference is for your own cost, however, we will coordinate it to suit your flights and ensure the 8 best rates

Accommodation

There is a choice of single, double and family rooms.

2 children under 18 sharing a double room with their parents stay free.

A family room sleeps for max. 2 adults & 3 children. It consists of 2 rooms with an inter-leading door. It is charged as one double room plus one single room.

• Options include a spa treatment in the bush – a community development program, a visit to a cultural village, visits to world heritage archaeological sites at Maropeng and Drimolen, visits to the crocodile farm, the Cheetah conservation programme at de Wildt, they also rehabilitate other endangered species there such as Wild Dog.

• The elephant experience can be upgraded to an Elephant back safari (extra cost)

• Kwa Maritane offers a Junior Ranger Programme: Activities have been created for children from the ages of 6 years old to that of 12 years old and aim to encourage an appreciation for nature, conservation and natural resources. Children learn about the history of the Pilanesberg National Park, participate in wildlife walks to find out more about wild animals, bird and plant life . Guides teach what to look and listen for as well as the properties of the plants found around the lodge.
