Jaguar XF Fuses Sports Car Styling and Performance with the Refi Nement, Features and Space of a Luxury Saloon
THE XF COLLECTION The Jaguar XF fuses sports car styling and performance with the refi nement, features and space of a luxury saloon. DESIGN 4 PERFORMANCE 12 CRAFTSMANSHIP 22 TECHNOLOGY 26 THE XF COLLECTION 34 SPECIFICATION 56 DESIGN Some cars are built. Some are engineered. A Jaguar is created. A rare blend of art and performance, science and beauty. A new Jaguar is one of the most powerful, technologically advanced and luxurious cars ever made. You see it in the dynamic face of the new XF. A face that, with its powerful chrome mesh grille fl anked by technically advanced, swept back headlamps, takes the XF in a thrilling, new design direction. You see it in its profi le. Just gaze at the dramatic sweep of the roof and the curve of its side window frames highlighting the XF’s stunning coupé lines. At Jaguar, designers and engineers work side-by-side to develop the perfect balance of seductive design and exhilarating performance. As a result, in the new XF, design integrates seamlessly with advanced engineering, creating inspired solutions to complex, technical challenges. So, when our designers wanted slim, slender roof pillars to provide the driver with exceptional all-round visibility, engineers crafted the pillars from Boron, a metal 900 percent stronger than regular mild steel. When our engineers required an even lower coeffi cient of drag and more rear downforce, the design team responded with sculpted metal that improved both high-speed stability and fuel economy. It’s the kind of single-minded attention to design detail, the pursuit of engineering excellence, that helps the XF set a benchmark in quality and craftsmanship. -

Generation of Semantic Layouts for Interactive Multidimensional Data Visualization Erick Gomez-Nieto∗y and Luis Gustavo Nonatoy ∗Research and Innovation Center in Computer Science Universidad Católica San Pablo, Arequipa, Peru yInstituto de Ciências Matemáticas e de Computação Universidade de São Paulo São Carlos-SP, Brazil Abstract—Visualization methods make use of interactive are easily readable, but they pay the price of scalability. graphical representations embedded on a display area in order Hierarchical methods such as Treemaps mitigate the issue to enable data exploration and analysis. These typically rely of scalability while making an efficient use of display area. on geometric primitives for representing data or building more sophisticated representations to assist the visual analysis process. However, readability and semantic organization of data are One of the most challenging tasks in this context is to determinate aspects not so easily handled by those methods. Overlap-free an optimal layout of these primitives which turns out to be semantic preserving techniques generate somewhat structured effective and informative. Existing algorithms for building layouts layouts and keep instances with similar content close to each from geometric primitives are typically designed to cope with other. Nevertheless, they are not designed to make an efficient requirements such as orthogonal alignment, overlap removal, optimal area usage, hierarchical organization, dynamic update use of display area and also suffer from scalability. among others. However, most techniques are able to tackle just Handling many requirements is not straightforward because a few of those requirements simultaneously, impairing their distinct requirements can compete with each other during use and flexibility. In this dissertation, we propose a set of layout construction. -

1 Fundamental Car Groups, 1981-2011
FUNDAMENTAL CAR GROUPS, 1981-2011 (Shared Body Platforms) 1. The first line of the definition assigns a five-digit number to the car group; the first two digits indicate the manufacturer, based on FARS codes (1=AMC, 6=Chrysler, 12=Ford, 18=GM, etc.); the last three digits are sequential and generally chronological for that manufacturer. 2. The second line assigns a name to the car group and gives the limits of the range of model years for the various make-models in the car group. Car groups are often named after the largest selling make-model with that body platform and/or the wheelbase of that platform (to the nearest inch). 3. The third line shows the wheelbase of the cars in that group, as derived from "New Car Specifications" in Automotive News or Ward’s Automotive Yearbook. 4. The remaining lines list the specific make-models included in the car group, including a five-digit make-model code, the make-model name (plus additional specifications such as "4-door" if not every car of that make-model is in that car group during the specified time period), a range of model years, and the VIN characters that identify specifically which cars belong to this car group (V3 is the 3rd character of the VIN, V34 is the 3rd and 4th character, etc.).
