3 www.adelaideconvention.com.au Morning Tea on Glenelg beach Sensory experience at Jacob’s Creek Year of your birth port tasting at Seppeltsfield The Barossa - Picture Perfect Monday... After touching down at Adelaide International Airport, to their surprise guests were greeted by a fleet of classic Ford Mustang cars, their transport for the day. The first stop for the day was the seaside resort of Glenelg (just 15 minutes from Adelaide CBD) to enjoy a private breakfast on the sand overlooking the stunning ocean. The Stamford Grand Adelaide catered for this sumptuous breakfast, and the team here also offer a number of other options inside and outside the hotel. The Mustang’s then took guests on a scenic journey along the foreshore before heading to Australia’s most famous wine region – the Barossa.

The Barossa is home to some of the world’s most famous wine labels including Penfolds, Jacob’s Creek and Wolf Blass. The first stop was Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre. Each guest was provided with a DSLR camera, memory card and a crash course in professional photography by Georgia Felt from Zoom Photography. The aim of this activity was to capture the beauty of the Barossa to take home with their best image printed on a personalised bottle of Barossa wine. After a tour of the picturesque Jacob’s Creek vineyard, guests enjoyed a delicious Asian-style lunch made completely from local South Australian ingredients. It was then time for the Jacob’s Creek sensory experience, where the centre’s Mandarin-speaking guide provided an interactive insight into wine, with the group using their senses to describe and taste wine.

Next stop was one of the most historic wineries in Australia. Seppeltsfield is renowned for its fortified wines and is home to the longest lineage of single vintage wines in the world, having kept a barrel of each wine they have made since 1878. Guests were provided with the exclusive opportunity to taste some fortified wine from the year of their birth – a truly unique experience. Many guests were so impressed that they took the opportunity to purchase a specially presented bottle of their birth wine to take home with them!

Late afternoon, the cars whisked the guests back to Adelaide. Upon arrival at Crowne Plaza, guests were surprised by their next mode of transport – two Overland Whippet vintage cars (famous for being driven across China from Beijing to Shanghai in three days!) The cars took the guests to House of Chow restaurant for a sumptuous seafood banquet. After dinner it was off to the Adelaide Fringe Festival, where a few guests braved a carnival ride before taking in a Fringe performance! After a long and exciting day, guests took a short stroll back to the Crowne Plaza for a well-deserved rest.

A beautiful sunrise greeted the group for their short flight to Kangaroo Island, (Asia Pacific’s most unspoilt wilderness - National Geographic Traveller) with perfect blue skies providing the opportunity to see the remarkable coastline of South Australia. Tour guide Tim from Exceptional Kangaroo Island greeted guests at the airport before transferring to Emu Bay for the first activity of the day.

After boarding the eco-friendly boat from Kangaroo Island Marine Adventures, skipper Andrew took guests for a short journey along the magnificent coastal cliffs of Kangaroo Island where they spotted a wide variety of birdlife, and a local sea lion playing amongst the rocks. Soon guests spotted a pod of almost fifty dolphins, which provided a magnificent display swimming around the boat. A few guests couldn’t resist jumping in the water and were rewarded with the experience of a lifetime – swimming with wild dolphins.

Next it was off to Vivonne Bay with Kangaroo Island Outdoor Action, where guests got to enjoy an exciting quad biking experience. This provided the group the opportunity to explore the rugged Australian bush, even spotting some wild Kangaroos along the way.
