Photo: Getty Images Dec 17, 2019 06:07 GMT Jones 50 Takes England To Win In First IT20 SCORECARD A half-century from Amy Jones and three wickets for Sophie Ecclestone led England to a comfortable victory in the first IT20 against Pakistan in Kuala Lumpur. Jones' 53 included ten fours and was the stand-out innings on a pitch that didn't suit aggression. She was ably supported by Tammy Beaumont and Nat Sciver, while Katherine Brunt and Heather Knight added some lower-order momentum. Two wickets in the first over for Freya Davies put England ahead of the game, but as was the pattern in the ODI series, Pakistani skipper Bismah Maroof was resolute and gave her team half a chance of taking victory. Late wickets for Sciver extinguished any Pakistani hopes of victory and took England 1-0 up in the series. The second and third match of the series take place on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 December respectively, before England return home. QUOTES Amy Jones: "It's not an easy pitch to score quickly on, and I think the opening few overs are probably the best time to bat. "Pakistan were disciplined with the ball and they didn't make it easy so I think we did well to get up to 160, but we perhaps would have liked a few more. "The wickets in Australia at the World Cup won't be too similar to this but the important skill is adapting and hopefully adapting to these wickets will stand us in good stead for the World Cup." Glenn's fine spell had swung the game back towards England after an impressive start by the Pakistani openers, and the hosts had fallen from 96/0 to 145/8 when the rain came. Along with centuries for Danni Wyatt, Tammy Beaumont and Nat Sciver, Glenn's form has probably been England's find of the tour. The young Worcestershire leg-spinner has taken eight wickets at just 11.62. Sussex's Freya Davies was presented with her ODI cap before the game, becoming the 130th person to represent England Women in ODI cricket. England Women v. South Africa Women Royal London One Day Series The 1st Central County Ground, Hove. Tuesday 12th June 2018. Sussex’s Sarah Taylor scored her seventh one-day hundred as England beat South Africa by 69 runs at The 1st Central County Ground to set up a decider in the three-match series at Canterbury on Friday. The 29-year-old was named Player of the Match for her 118 from 106 balls. She shared a second- wicket partnership of 156 in 23 overs with opener Tammy Beaumont, whose 101 was her fourth ODI century in the last two years. They helped England to an imposing total of 331-6 from their 50 overs but South Africa were kept in contention by a superb 117 from opener Lizelle Lee, who pressed the accelerator after a circumspect start, racing from 69 to 100 in just 14 balls. It took a Sussex combination to make the breakthrough when Lee, who hit 13 fours and five sixes, was caught at backward point by Danni Wyatt off Georgia Elwiss, who had just returned to the attack at the Cromwell Road End. With the required rate above nine an over by then, South Africa’s race was run and they finished on 262-9 with Elwiss taking 1 for 43 from eight overs. Both she and Wyatt held two catches. England captain Heather Knight admitted she wasn’t sure what she would have done had she won the toss. But the same pitch used for last Thursday’s Sussex Sharks-Australia game held few terrors and England’s openers Amy Jones and Beaumont set the tone with 71 in 13.3 overs before Jones (29) mis-timed a pull to mid-on.
