Please note that all Spell Bound gaming events will take place at 67 E Concourse, Waterville. Seating at the Spell Bound is limited; anyone wanting to attend MUST sign up at Spell Bound in advance.

Friday, September 13th

4-5 PM: Opening Ceremonies Location: Waterville Public Library (Fireplace Room)

Help us kick off the very first year of Cirque du Geek!

5:30-7 PM: Cosplayers Dinner Location: Selah Tea Café (177 Main St Waterville)

Try Selah Tea’s yummy food and meet your fellow cosplayers! Please note that each attendee will be responsible for the cost of their food.

7:30 PM-12 AM: PJ Movie Night Location: Waterville Public Library (Bartlett Room for Teens)

Wear your favorite PJs and enjoy some fantastic superhero movies! Snacks will be provided.

Saturday, September 14th

8-9 AM: Breakfast and Cartoons Location: Waterville Public Library (Colby Program Room)

Enjoy some muffins and morning cartoons before you head out for a day of geeky adventures!

9:30-10:30 AM: Science Fiction: Gateway to the Future and a Backdoor to Now with Steve Miller and Sharon Lee Location: Waterville Public Library (Large Print Room)

11-12 PM: Build-a-Creature Location: Waterville Public Library (Bartlett Room for Teens)

Create your own amazing, original stuffed creature from a selection of pre-sewn plushie parts! All skill levels are welcome, supplies will be provided.

12:30- 1:30 PM: An Introduction to Cosplay and its History Location: Waterville Public Library (Large Print Room)

Not sure exactly what cosplaying is? Do you want to know more about its history? If so, this is the panel for you!

12-1 PM: Settlers of Catan (tabletop game) Location: Spell Bound (67 Concourse E, Waterville)

In Settlers of Catan, players try to be the dominant force on the island of Catan by building settlements, cities, and roads. On each turn dice are rolled to determine what resources the island produces. Players collect these resources to build up their civilizations to get to 10 victory points and win the game.

1-2 PM: Fluxx (tabletop game) Location: Spell Bound

Fluxx is a card game where the cards themselves determine the current rules of the game. By playing cards, you change numerous aspects of the game: how to draw cards, how to play cards, and even how to win.

1:45-2:30 PM: Cosplay Parade Lineup Location: Waterville Public Library

Everyone who would like to participate in the cosplay parade at 2:30 is welcome to line up in front of the main entrance of the library starting at 1:45.

2-3 PM: Legendary DBG (Deck Building Game) (tabletop game) Location: Spell Bound

Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game is set in the Marvel Comics universe. To set up the game, players choose a number of hero decks – Spider-Man, Hulk, Cyclops, Wolverine, etc. – and shuffle them together; since players use only a handful of hero decks out of the fifteen included, the hero deck can vary widely in terms of what's available. Players then choose a mastermind villain (Magneto, Loki, Dr. Doom, etc.), stack that particular villain's attack cards underneath it, then modify the villain deck as needed based on that villain's particular scheme.

2:30-3:30 PM: Cosplay Parade Location: Downtown Waterville

Come show off your cosplays before the masquerade!

3-4 PM: Zen Garden (tabletop game) Location: Spell Bound

Zen Garden is an artful struggle and two games in one. The basic game is a fast and simple tile-matching game in which you attempt to form patterns on the board before your fellow players can do the same. The first player to form her signature pattern on the board twice without wilds and with her special symbol scores maximum points.

3:45-4:20 PM: Masquerade registration/lineup Location: REM Catch the Dream

Registration for the masquerade is required and will begin at 3:45 PM. Participants are welcome to perform a skit, or do a simple walk-on. If you choose to perform a skit it must be 3 minutes or less in length.

If you are using music for your skit, you will be required to present a CD with your music on it when you register for the masquerade. Music used during the masquerade may not contain profanity.

4-5 PM: Ticket to Ride (tabletop game) Location: Spell Bound

With elegantly simple gameplay, Ticket to Ride can be learned in 3 minutes, while providing players with intense strategic and tactical decisions every turn. Players collect cards of various types of train cars they then use to claim railway routes in North America. The longer the routes, the more points they earn. Additional points come to those who fulfill Destination Tickets – goal cards that connect distant cities; and to the player who builds the longest continuous route.

4:30-6 PM: Masquerade Location: REM Forum (93 Main St. Waterville)

Showcase your cosplays and your creativity on stage, or just sit back and watch your friends!

If you wish to be a part of the masquerade, registration is required and will begin at 3:45 PM. Participants are welcome to perform a skit, or do a simple walk-on. If you choose to perform a skit, it must be 3 minutes or less in length.

5-6 PM: Monty Python Fluxx (tabletop game) Location: Spell Bound

Monty Python themed version of Fluxx. The random and chaotic nature of the Fluxx engine makes it a perfect vehicle for the crazy world of Monty Python!

Fluxx is a card game where the cards themselves determine the current rules of the game. By playing cards, you change numerous aspects of the game: how to draw cards, how to play cards, and even how to win.

6-6:30 PM: Masquerade Judging/Prizes Location: REM Forum (93 Main St. Waterville)

6-7 PM: Apples to Apples (tabletop game) Location: Spell Bound

Apples to Apples consists only of two decks of cards: Things and Descriptions. Each turn, a player (referee) selects a Description card and the other players try to pick, from the Things cards in their hands, the Things that best match that Description.

6:45-8 PM: Movie Showing Location: Bartlett Room for Teens

7-8PM: Resident Evil DBG (tabletop game) Location: Spell Bound

In Resident Evil, a deadly virus has caused the dead to rise and infect any living thing they encounter! Fleeing to a mysterious mansion, you must gather any materials you can find to protect yourself and fight for your survival against a legion of infected beings!

The Resident Evil DBG brings the story to life in a game of strategy where players construct their card decks while they play. Choose one of your favorite characters from Resident Evil such as: Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, or Albert Wesker among others. Players start with only the most basic of items and weapons. As the game progresses, players build their arsenal with additional Weapons, Ammunition, Action or Item cards to customize their deck and improve their ability in defeating the Infected! Your deck will be your lifeline to survival. How will you survive the outbreak?

8-9 PM: Cards Against Humanity (18+ only) (tabletop game) Location: Spell Bound

A card game which involves a judge choosing a black question or fill-in-the-blank card. Each player holds a hand of ten cards at the beginning of each round, and each player contributes card(s) to the "card czar" anonymously. The card czar determines which card(s) are funniest in the context of the question or fill-in-the-blank card.

The player who submitted the chosen card(s) is given the question card to represent an "Awesome Point."

8 PM-12 AM: Dance Party Location: REM Forum (93 Main St. Waterville)

Unwind at the end of day two and enjoy some awesome music with your friends!

Sunday, September 15th

9-10 AM: Movie Showing Location: Bartlett Room for Teens

10-11 AM: Shows Gone before Their Time Location: Waterville Public Library (Bartlett Room for Teens)

This panel is for the shows that were cancelled before they even had a chance *cough* Firefly *cough*. In this panel, you'll be hearing about some of the amazing shows that never got a chance to live up to their full potential.

11:30-1 PM: Plushie Picnic Location: Waterville Public Library

Have lunch with your favorite plush friend! All stuffed toys are welcome, whether they're a Totoro, a unicorn, or a Hobbit!

(Please note that all attending humans must be supervised by a plush.  )

1-2 PM: Fluxx the Board Game Location: Spell Bound

Fluxx: The Board Game lives up to its card game namesake as this board game is all about change: changing rules, changing goals, and changing tiles on the board.

1:15-2:15 PM: The Facets of Punk Location: Waterville Public Library (Colby Program Room)

Do you want to learn more about , cyberpunk or dieselpunk? Have you ever wondered what Stonepunk is? If so, this is the panel for you!

2-3 PM: DBG (tabletop game) Location: Spell Bound

Set in the world of your favorite web-comic, Penny Arcade puts you in the middle of the epic battles between Tycho and Gabe. Unleash attacks at your rival, such as Mein Leapen or the (Cardboard) Tube Strike. Put your Hijinks to good use, employing your beard-growing abilities with Oneupsmanship or the powers of Skullduggery. Collect Stuff, and acquire the Rare Card or your ally in the tub Sir Quacks-a- lot.

2:30-3:30 PM: Art Contest Judging Location: Waterville Public Library (Large Print Room)

Come watch the judging of the first ever Cirque du Geek art contest! All artwork entered in the contest is currently being displayed in the Carnegie Art Gallery at the Waterville Public Library. All participating artists may pick up their pieces on Monday, September 16th.

3-4 PM: Munchkin (tabletop game) Location: Spell Bound

Munchkin is a satirical card game based on the clichés and oddities of Dungeons and Dragons and other role-playing games. Each player starts at level 1 and the winner is the first player to reach level 10. Players can acquire familiar D&D style character classes during the game which determine to some extent the cards they can play.

4-5 PM: Settlers of Catan (tabletop game) Location: Spell Bound

3:45-5 PM: Karaoke Contest Location: Silver Street Tavern & Restaurant (2 Silver St. Waterville)

Do you love to sing? Have your memorized every song from Doctor Horrible and Buffy? If so, this is the event for you!

5:30-8 PM: Movie Location: Waterville Public Library (Bartlett Room for Teens)

5-6 PM: Miskatonic School for Girls DBG (tabletop game) Location: Spell Bound

Miskatonic School for Girls is the first deck-building game in which you get to build your opponent's deck. This unique feature creates a totally different play dynamic from other deck building games.

MSFG has players assuming the roles of rival houses at Miskatonic. Each house has a healthy level of sanity (20) at the beginning of the game. As the game goes on, that precious sanity will slowly be torn away by the faculty of the school. In order to combat the bad teaching methods of the Great Old Ones, the students of the house need to band together!
