CDD A MONTHLY PUBLICATION OF THE RIVERCREST CDD • FEBRUARY 2015 Board of Supervisors Daniel J. Leventry Message from the CDD Chairman Supervisor, Esther Torres Elaine Sellent Dear Rivercrest resident, Vice Chairman It has been eight years since I was given the privilege of being elected to the Rivercrest CDD board; however it is time to say my goodbye. I have enjoyed my time here and I appreciate having the opportunity to work with the Board Members and residents. Lisa Fernandez Rivercrest is a community that has grown with outstanding community events and continues to grow every year. There is new Supervisor construction that involves a new pool, cabana, hot tub and fire pits. In the near future there will be construction for a dog park, a Frank Nocco sport field and even a gym, I’m so proud of being involved in the development process and feel confident that all of the improving Supervisor amenities will make the Rivercrest community a favorable place to live. Again, thank you to the Board Members, the Management Company and residents for making the last eight years an exciting and enjoyable experience. The HOA suggested creating a committee of resident volunteers from the Villa neighborhood. A letter was sent to all Villa owners asking for interested persons and a committee of approximately 12 people was formed and their responsibility was to select the trees to replace the Live Oaks following the County permit guidelines. The committee selected two tree types, Crape Myrtle and Eagleston Holly. The Eaglestons will be placed at each side of the street light and all others will be Crapes. The Committee’s decision, which was based on permit guidelines, was made after consideration of several factors and ongoing consultation with a landscape arborist. The project, once started, will be completed within 60 days. Utilities will be marked appropriately preparing for excavation and the Approved Vendor will start the project by removing the oak trees and replacing them with the trees that were selected by the committee. There has been a question from some single family owners as to whether they can replace oak trees on their property. The Rivercrest HOA has submitted a tree removal application to the county that would, if approved, allow single family home owners to remove and replace oak trees on their property following permit guidelines. Since single family home owners do not pay a monthly maintenance fee, as the Garden Villas do, all costs related to tree placement would be the responsibility of each single family home owner who choose to do so.

Rivercrest Restaurant Review By Frank & Suzanne Nocco

Fred’s Market Restaurant 6501 U. S. 301, Riverview, FL33578, 813-741-9101 Buffet • $$ - Under $15.00 each Welcome to the first Rivercrest Restaurant Review. Our first review is Fred’s. If you don’t know Fred’s by now just look for the building on 301 with no room to park and the chicken on the roof. Normally crowded don’t let that dissuade from dining at Fred’s. The first thing you’ll encounter at Fred’s is the crowded parking lot. There is a large unpaved towards the rear that usually handles all the folks who want in. Just be sure that when you enter their lot don’t drive up in front of the building unless you see an open spot. If not it is next to impossible to get out of there gracefully and you’ll end up making at least one illegal turn (I know, I’ve done it). Once parked you will probably encounter loads of families waiting their turn. The inside wait space is limited but there are tons of seats outside. Wait times rarely exceed 30 minutes, your patience will be rewarded. Fred’s has a unique pricing system based on how much you want to eat. Unlimited trips thru the buffet line are the highest and limited trips are less. After too many trips to Las Vegas we are really not buffet people anymore. Fred’s is a buffet, make no mistake, but you can also order off the menu, but you probably won’t once you looked at the buffet. You will find a salad bar, soups and a very generous entrée buffet loaded with Southern Specialties. You will find anything from a tender pot roast to salmon to ribs, to meat loaf, to fried chicken just to name a few. Sides include mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, veggies, grits and one of my favorites, Fried Green Tomatoes along with breads, rolls and muffins of all sorts. Deserts include a fruit cobbler, banana pudding, cakes, cookies and soft serve ice cream. The help here is first rate and very well trained and although you serve yourself they will check on you to make sure you have what you need, or want. Fred’s is a good place to take visitors from out of town to introduce them to southern dishes. We are fans of Fred’s. You just might become one too.
