1. Revising Manuscripts

1) Check that the manuscript file (Microsoft Word) contains all schemes, figures, tables, captions, and keywords.

2) All other images (graphs, microscopy images, etc.) should be embedded in the Microsoft Word file in high-resolution (at least 300 dpi) .tif, .jpg, .png, or similar formats. If a graphic contains several panels, the panels should first be combined into a single image before insertion into the manuscript text file where possible. Click for more information on preparing good graphics.

3) All reaction schemes, mechanisms, etc. that contain chemical structures should be embedded in the Microsoft Word file in ChemDraw format (copy and paste from ChemDraw works for this). For information on preparing ChemDraw images, see below.

4) The supporting information file, if applicable, should be a production-ready, unmarked PDF or Microsoft Word document. Please do not include the title of the article and author names as a title page, as this will be inserted automatically.

5) A point-by-point response to the reviewer comments, if any, should be inserted in the "Response to Reviewers" box during upload of the revised paper, including a list of changes made and a rebuttal to any reviewer comments with which you disagree. Please highlight any changes made during revision by giving the text a yellow background.

6) Authors at ChemPlusChem have the option to publish their articles immediately following acceptance (before copy editing and typesetting) as an Accepted Article. Upon final acceptance, you will receive an email with a link to upload the required files. Please follow the detailed instructions on the next page to avoid any errors.

7) If you would like to make your article available open access, please see the link in the acceptance letter for the appropriate form. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].

2. Accepted Article

Publication of Accepted Articles online before editing and galley proofing is a fully automated process. Please take care to follow the guidelines below to ensure smooth, error-free publication. Corrections will be made only through the editing and proofing process, upon completion of which the version of record is published online either in EarlyView or directly in the “current issue” via continuous publishing.

1) The Accepted Article will be published under the title given in EditorialManager. Please ensure that it matches that in the manuscript file and that any changes to the title since the initial submission have been incorporated. The title will appear in plain text, without formatting, and only keyboard characters can be displayed. Special characters can be inserted using the “insert special character” option in EditorialManager.

2) The Accepted Article will be published with the author list as given in Editorial Manager. Please ensure that the order of authors is correct, and that all authors are included. Please note that for technical reasons only one author can be designated as “corresponding author” for the accepted article. The version of record published in EarlyView will reflect all authors designated as corresponding author. Special characters should be inserted using the “insert special character” option in Editorial Manager.

3) Any text highlights or colored text must be removed prior to the upload of the Accepted Article and, if necessary, Supporting Information. The file names should include the word "manuscript" and "supporting information", respectively.

4) All text, tables, figures, schemes, etc. must all be contained in one file! This file cannot contain any commentaries or comments to referees, etc.

5) The final version of the manuscript must be uploaded as a single file PDF with the item designation “Accepted Article”; the final version of the Supporting Information must be uploaded with the item designation “Supporting Information for Accepted Article”.

Failure to comply with these guidelines will lead to errors in the Accepted Article or to the manuscript not being published as an Accepted Article. Corrections will be made only through the editing and proofing process, upon completion of which the version of record is published online either in EarlyView or directly in the “current issue” via continuous publishing.

3. Graphics

Schemes are chemical equations, reaction sequences, or groups of chemical structures. Templates can be found here.

Reaction conditions can be detailed in Font: Arial. the caption. Use of the ChemDraw template ensures consistency between structures and in case of multiple schemes.

These structures, their numbers, and the reaction arrow are well positioned in space, relative to each other. Please make use of the alignment and distribution functions available in ChemDraw.

Figures are things such as graphs, microscopy images, photos, and schematics of processes.

Font scaled to match figure‘s intended a)

width. Contrast between text and background improves clarity.

Scale bar clearly visible. Usually, removing the instrument‘s default 50 nm scale data from the image and rewriting it improves clarity. Please remove major and minor gridlines from the chart area. 6000

5000 Please make use of sans-serif 4000 fonts only, preferably Arial or Q / unit 3000 Helvetica.

2000 This figure was prepared with Arial, font size 10, and scaled 1000 to actual print size. 0

0 0.2 0.4 0.6 0.8 1 Q / unit

Graphics in a one-column format are scaled to a maximum width of 8.2 cm and in two-column format to 17.0 cm. Our preferred size for text labels is 1.5-2.0 mm tall (roughly 6-8 point at 100% scaling).

4. Submitting Cover Artwork

If you would like your manuscript to be considered for one of the covers of ChemPlusChem, please submit a cover suggestion (preferably as a TIFF file) along with your final revised manuscript. Please include a short descriptive text (400 - 450 characters excluding spaces) that describes the main results of the research represented by the cover image.

If your manuscript is chosen for the FRONT cover, your work will be further highlighted with a “Cover Profile”, an exciting feature that showcases your group (and collaborators) as well as your research related to this paper.

Cover art is featured prominently on our homepage, increasing the visibility of your research. There is a charge associated with the covers; for further information contact the editorial office ([email protected])

The picture itself should be 18.0 cm/2124 pixels (wide) x 17.0 cm/2006 pixels (high). Please do not place graphical objects or text within 15 mm/180 pixels of the picture borders as they will be faded into the background color of the journal cover. We recommend that you avoid a collage of many small images, which can distract and confuse. For details on cover image preparation, click here and for previous examples, click here to see our cover gallery.
