Entomologica, Bari, 39 (2005): 183-209 PAOLO PARENZAN1 - LUIGI SANNINO2 - STEFANO SCALERCIO3 - ANDREA SCIARRETTA4 Nuovi dati sulla Macrolepidotterofauna dell’Italia meridionale (Lepidoptera)* ABSTRACT NEW RECORDS ON THE MACROLEPIDOPTERA OF SOUTHERN ITALY (LEPIDOPTERA) In this paper 135 species have been recognised. Seven species (Dahlica triquetrella (Hübner, 1813), Xanthorhoe designata (Hufnagel, 1767), Eupithecia inturbata (Hübner, 1817), Plusia festucae (Linnaeus, 1758), Calamia tridens (Hufnagel, 1766), Polymixis polymita (Linnaeus, 1761), Agrotis syricola Berio, 1936) are new for Southern Italy, 15 taxa were the first time recorded in Puglia, 87 in Campania, 10 in Basilicata and 20 in Calabria. The great amount of faunistic news underlines the high species richness of Southern Italy, a large amount of which is to date unknown. Key Words: Macrolepidoptera, faunistic reports, Southern Italy. INTRODUZIONE Le recenti ricerche condotte sui Lepidotteri nelle regioni meridionali dell’Italia continentale hanno notevolmente incrementato il patrimonio faunistico, contribuendo a delineare in modo più dettagliato il profilo biogeografico del territorio. La notevole ricchezza biocenotica, unitamente all’ininterrotto periodo di volo dei lepidotteri, soprattutto nelle aree costiere, fanno sì che solo una limitata porzione della variabilità ambientale sia stata finora campionata in modo esauriente. Executive Summary This survey was a continuation of several years of rare plant survey on San Juan Public Lands. Funding for the project was provided by San Juan National Forest and the San Juan Resource Area of the Bureau of Land Management. Previous rare plant surveys on San Juan Public Lands by CNHP were conducted in conjunction with county wide surveys of La Plata, Archuleta, San Juan and San Miguel counties, with partial funding from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO); and in 2004, public lands only in Dolores and Montezuma counties, funded entirely by the San Juan Public Lands. Funding for 2005 was again provided by San Juan Public Lands. The primary emphases for field work in 2005 were: 1. revisit and update information on rare plant occurrences of agency sensitive species in the Colorado Natural Heritage Program (CNHP) database that were last observed prior to 2000, in order to have the most current information available for informing the revision of the Resource Management Plan for the San Juan Public Lands (BLM and San Juan National Forest); 2. -

Stenroos1 Key words Abstract Though most of the lichenicolous fungi belong to the Ascomycetes, their phylogenetic placement based on molecular data is lacking for numerous species. In this study the phylogenetic placement of 19 species of cladoniicolous species lichenicolous fungi was determined using four loci (LSU rDNA, SSU rDNA, ITS rDNA and mtSSU). The phylogenetic Pilocarpaceae analyses revealed that the studied lichenicolous fungi are widespread across the phylogeny of Lecanoromycetes. Protothelenellaceae One species is placed in Acarosporales, Sarcogyne sphaerospora; five species in Dactylosporaceae, Dactylo Scutula cladoniicola spora ahtii, D. deminuta, D. glaucoides, D. parasitica and Dactylospora sp.; four species belong to Lecanorales, Stictidaceae Lichenosticta alcicorniaria, Epicladonia simplex, E. stenospora and Scutula epiblastematica. The genus Epicladonia Stictis cladoniae is polyphyletic and the type E. sandstedei belongs to Leotiomycetes. Phaeopyxis punctum and Bachmanniomyces uncialicola form a well supported clade in the Ostropomycetidae. Epigloea soleiformis is related to Arthrorhaphis and Anzina. Four species are placed in Ostropales, Corticifraga peltigerae, Cryptodiscus epicladonia, C. galaninae and C. cladoniicola -

Scottish Macro-Moth List, 2015
Notes on the Scottish Macro-moth List, 2015 This list aims to include every species of macro-moth reliably recorded in Scotland, with an assessment of its Scottish status, as guidance for observers contributing to the National Moth Recording Scheme (NMRS). It updates and amends the previous lists of 2009, 2011, 2012 & 2014. The requirement for inclusion on this checklist is a minimum of one record that is beyond reasonable doubt. Plausible but unproven species are relegated to an appendix, awaiting confirmation or further records. Unlikely species and known errors are omitted altogether, even if published records exist. Note that inclusion in the Scottish Invertebrate Records Index (SIRI) does not imply credibility. At one time or another, virtually every macro-moth on the British list has been reported from Scotland. Many of these claims are almost certainly misidentifications or other errors, including name confusion. However, because the County Moth Recorder (CMR) has the final say, dubious Scottish records for some unlikely species appear in the NMRS dataset. A modern complication involves the unwitting transportation of moths inside the traps of visiting lepidopterists. Then on the first night of their stay they record a species never seen before or afterwards by the local observers. Various such instances are known or suspected, including three for my own vice-county of Banffshire. Surprising species found in visitors’ traps the first time they are used here should always be regarded with caution. Clerical slips – the wrong scientific name scribbled in a notebook – have long caused confusion. An even greater modern problem involves errors when computerising the data.
