COMMISSIONERS COURT RESOLUTION (Steve Chapman Field)

WHEREAS, Steve Chapman, born in Hallettesville, Texas has dedicated 34 years of his life to teaching, mentoring and creating an environment for excellence in coaching high school baseball; and,

WHEREAS, Steve Chapman has loved and played baseball his entire life, playing Little League as a youth, collegiate ball at Blinn Junior College in Brenham, Texas and later at the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor; and,

WHEREAS, Coach Chapman has become an icon in high school sports during his 31 years of a successful program in 4-A baseball competition at Calallen High School; and,

WHEREAS, Steve Chapman currently leads the list of the most active winning coaches in the State of Texas with an all-time overall record of 865-187-2; including three state championship titles; and, is the second all-time winningest coach in Texas High School Baseball history; and,

WHEREAS, under Coach Chapman’s leadership, philosophy and expertise in the sport of baseball, he has developed a program with the motto “Tradition of Excellence that Never Graduates” at Calallen High School;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Nueces County Commissioners Court hereby supports the Calallen Independent School District and its Board of Trustees, in naming the Calallen High School Baseball Field, STEVE CHAPMAN FIELD, to honor his dedication to Calallen baseball and his coaching achievements.

DULY ADOPTED BY VOTE OF THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, ON THIS, THE 17th DAY OF APRIL, 2013.
