Programme in this fifth year successfully. The exercise of online admission has been highly successful in the admission of various other streams and it is undoubtedly bringing desired outcomes for the LL.M. Programme admission among all the law colleges affiliated with the Gujarat University. With the introduction of the Centralized Admission Process in all Graduation as well as Post Graduation Programmes, the Gujarat University has become the first University of the Gujarat State to offer the Centralized Admission Process in all disciplines. Since last three years, the University has started offering facilities of cash-less transaction to the students in the Centralized Admission Process, which has now become essential in the present Pendamic Situations of COVID - 19. PREAMBLE The Gujarat University is established in the year 1949 by the Gujarat University Act, 1949. As per the powers conferred in the said Act, Gujarat University has constituted “Gujarat University Admission Committee” to regulate the admission of candidates to the certain programmes as mentioned in “The Gujarat University LL.M. Programme Admission Rules, 2020”. The mission assigned to this Committee is to carry out the counseling process in a fair and transparent manner. The admission process is conducted by this Committee strictly on the basis of merit and the preference of the candidate. The functions of the Committee are as follows: The Committee shall supervise, monitor and control the entire process of admission including Common Entrance Test for the candidates seeking admissions to the affiliated P. G. Centers and Departments offering LL.M. Programme. The Committee shall prepare the merit list in accordance with the provisions of the rules made there under. The Committee shall allocate the Seats in accordance with the provisions of the rules made herein after. The Committee shall ensure that admission in the affiliated P. G. Centers and Departments offering LL.M. Programme as per the merit list prepared. The Committee shall perform such other functions as may be assigned to it by the Gujarat University.

    Standard - 8 Semester 1 9 THE FREEDOM MOVEMENT OF 1857 C.E. Nationalism emerged in India due to not only the arrival of the Europeans but also their behaviour and policies. An important event happened in India in the year 1857 C.E. which became the first in the factors responsible for consolidating the sentiment of Nationalism in our country. Reasons for the outbreak of the Revolt of 1857 C.E. The main reason for the revolt of 1857 C.E. was the widespread dissatisfaction among the people in India due to the suppressive policies of the British adopted to spread their empire in India. Let us review the reasons in detail about what led to this dissatisfaction? Social and religious reasons The Policy of Social Reforms by the Company made people feel insecure and suspicious. They felt that the government was trying to convert them to Christianity and destroy the Indian culture and religion forever. People believed that the Indian social system was deliberately undermined in the railways, jails and military. A larger section of our society was orthodox at that time and thus, the new changes arouse dissatisfaction in them. As a result, many people joined this freedom movement to sustain their socio-religious structure. Economic reasons The aim of the British was to bring prosperity to England at the cost of India. As a result, most of the sections of Indian society became impoverished. The landlords and peasants, having lost their lands participated in the revolt. Political reasons The East India Company acquired the Diwani Rights (right to collect revenue) as a result of their victory in the Battle of Buxar in 1764 C.E.

Gandhinagar district of Gujarat state is one of the semi urban as well as rural areas. The population of the district is mostly rural, and a majority of the district students are coming from socioeconomically backward segment. Gandhinagar district also has the population of people from Thakore,Patel, Kshatriya , Brahmins, and section of people from minority communities. In Gandhinagar district, ours is the only grant-in-aid Arts and Science college imparting education of Science and Humanities to more than 1600(approx) students every year. Students from ST, SC, minority and other backward classes are financially supported with Government scholarship. It is indeed a matter of pride and pleasure to submit the reaccreditation report of the institution to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Our first assessment by NAAC in 2008 gave us an opportunity to peep within. To become aware of our potentials and our weaknesses, during these five years, we have made an honest effort to achieve better standards in all fields, such as academic, administrative, infrastructural, extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
