PS5 SUPERCUP 2020-21 20 January 2021 20/01/2021 21:00 - MAPEI STADIUM JUVENTUS Vs NAPOLI This will be the 33rd edition of the Italian Super Cup; the team holding the Scudetto has liftedthe trophy in 69% of the previous 32 such ties (22 of 32). However, last year’s edition was won by Lazio, the Coppa Italia winner. The Scudetto-winning team have lost four of the last six editions of the Italian Super Cup, two of which coming after a penalty shootout (won by Napoli in 2014 and by AC Milan in 2016). This is Juventus’ 16th participation in the Italian Super Cup (at least five more than any other team) while Napoli will play this match for the fourth time. All of Napoli’s three previous Italian Super Cup finals have been against Juventus. Two were won by the Partenopei (2014 – via penalties - and 1990) and one for the Bianconeri (2012). In the last 13 editions of the Italian Super Cup, only one has seen a goal scored in the first 15 minutes of play (Juventus' Carlos Tevez in the 5th minute against Napoli in 2014). Napoli are unbeaten in their last two games against Juventus in all competitions (W1 D1) and could go three in a row without defeat against the Bianconeri for the first time since 2011 (four). Juventus have found the net in each their last eight Italian Super Cup games, last failing to do so in 2005 (0-1 against Inter). Kalidou Koulibaly, Faouzi Ghoulam and Dries Mertens are the only three members of the current Napoli squad to have played at least one minute in the Italian Super Cup final won by the Azzurri in 2014. Should he play, Gianluigi Buffon would become the player with the most appearances in the history of the Italian Super Cup (currently at nine, level with Dejan Stankovic). Indeed, the Italian goalkeeper is also level with Stankovic for most Italian Super Cup wins by any player (six). Alvaro Morata is the only Juventus player to have scored at least one goal in every competition played by the Bianconeri in 2020-21 so far (Champions League, Serie A TIM and Coppa Italia), while Hirving Lozano is the only Napoli player to have done the same for the Partenopei (Europa League, Serie A TIM and Coppa Italia)..

Introduction In the dying hours of the 2010/2011 winter transfer window, Liverpool signed Andy Carroll from Newcastle United. Although The Reds had to break their transfer record, Carroll never met the expectations. The forward, who had scored 11 goals in 19 matches for The Magpies in the first half of the season, managed just 6 goals from 44 appearances for Liverpool. The then-22-year-old Carroll is a tall target man thriving from crosses, but Liverpool did not play that way and also did not have the appropriate players in their squad to accommodate his preferred playing style. In contrast, the more mobile Luis Suárez, who was signed on the same day and gelled much better with the players surrounding him on the pitch, scored 69 goals in 110 matches for Liverpool. Although this example illustrates the importance of chemistry among players, recruitment departments at soccer clubs still largely ignore this aspect in their evaluation of potential signings. Typically, scouts solely focus on the individual qualities of potential signings and do not account for the team balance and team chemistry in their judgments on the players. On one hand, assessing the potential chemistry with the players who are already on their team is hard by watching a limited number of matches either on tape or live in the stadium. On the other hand, existing soccer analytics tools that can process large volumes of match data mostly focus on evaluating the individual performances of players.

In 2010 ECA published its first Research Facts & Key figures CAN 2010 which highlighted the importance of African players registered in one of the European National Championships. The second Research Facts & Key figures CAN 2012 showed a slight decrease due to the fact that National teams of Cameroon, Nigeria, Togo, Benin were not qualified for the 2012 edition (teams with more than 60% of players playing in Europe). The 2013 Edition confirmed the trend of the 2010 Edition with the majority of players playing with clubs in Europe. The 2013 CAN figures show that 188 players out of 368 ( 51.1% ) are playing in one of 26 European National Championships. Nevertheless the clubs from the “BIG 5” countries * released less players ** (27.2% comparing to 38.1% in 2010).
