DCA IS FOCUSING ON THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES: Food Security and livelihoods: Working together with local partners we respond to food security and livelihoods needs of selected South Sudanese communities through market and cash-based programming.

Peace and conflict mitigation: Working by supporting implementing partners working with community structures (peace building committees) and local governments to prevent and mitigate conflict through peace building activities in the conflict prone communities.

Humanitarian Mine Action: Building Safer Communities by clearing community land of mines and Explosive Remnants of War, increasing safety awareness through Risk Education and Armed Violence Reduction, and developing participatory Community Safety Planning. OPERATIONAL CONTEXT: FACTS: 7.1 million are severely food insecure. Turnover in 2018: USD 14,027,562 Employees: 96 people Partners: Working together with 13 partners Co-lead of the Inter Agency Cash Working Group 2.2 million have fled the country. Beneficiaries in 2018: ● 241,208 people with cash transfers ● 167,719 people with livelihood activities ● 3,850 people with NFIS 2 million people are internally displaced. ● 23,494 people supported through peacebuilding and community-based protection activities ● 129,679 people with mine clearance activities ● 90,429 people with risk education activities ● 178,981 people provided with health consultation 25,790,000 m2 presumed contaminated ● 29,722 people reached with basic education activities or school materials by explosive hazards. ● 19,825 people reached safer communities / armed violence reduction activities

WHERE WE WORK Upper Nile: Market and cash-based assistance provided to local markets in the form of training of traders, rehabilitation and construction of storage facilities, livelihoods activities supporting farming, fishing and dairy groups, community-led SUDAN protection activities, and both conditional and unconditional, unrestricted cash to the most vulnerable communities. Upper Nile Jonglei: Psychosocial support activities, peacebuilding activities in cattle camps, community peace committees, use of Unity solar powered Digital Audio Players (DAPs) with pre-recorded peace and social messages, livelihoods support through distribution of seeds and tools, unconditional cash and support to local markets.

ETHIOPIA Central Equatoria: Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) programme, mine clearance, education to community focal points and Jonglei peer risk educators to strengthen safety of local communities and school children.

CENTRAL Eastern Equatoria: Peace building activities, livelihoods activities, VSLAs, seeds and tools for farmer groups and vegetable AFRICAN SOUTH SUDAN REPUBLIC growers, provision of chicken to poultry groups, and support to bee-keeping farmers, livestock restocking and treatment.

Unity: Implementing basic primary education programme to refugees and host community. Constructing school facilities, Juba Eastern Central Equatoria supporting girls at these schools and providing teachers incentives among others. Equatoria

Across all DCA locations in South Sudan: Emergency response mechanism (ERM) to allow for timely and effective cash- DR CONGO based emergency response to sudden-onset crises.
