Porticus UK

Porticus UK offers grants to charities who are working to assist the poor and marginalised. Charities should be working in the areas of education, society, faith and care.

There are no set funding limits; rather the Trust prefers to fund a variety of levels. Occasionally grants of less than £10,000 are awarded but most awards are larger. Applicants are only accepted from registered charities and registered Community Interest Companies. Although the Trust's values are based inthe Catholic faith, applications are welcomed from all organisations, whether or not they have a faith basis. Particular emphasis is placed on organisations which have a proven model and wish to expand.

Requests are considered for core or project costs. These may include staff salaries and overheads. However, buildings or equipment are not generally funded. Grants are also awarded for developing policy, advocacy and research.

Grants are available for activities that fall under the following categories: Education - purpose of education is to enable people to achieve their full potential and to contribute to the common good.

Society - This is aimed at tackling the causes of poverty and injustice by supporting initiatives and organisations striving for a fairer society and the common good.

Faith - initiatives that nourish and develop the role of faith in society. It believes that Catholic Social Teaching and people of faith bring a valuable perspective on justice in today's complex world.

Care - Changes in demographics and society have weakened traditional support networks of family and community.
