The Court of Appeal has allowed four days for the new hearing which will start on Monday 21 October. There will be four appeals which will be heard at the same time. The boroughs will say that the government made legal errors in the steps leading up to the Airports National Policy Statement (ANPS) and therefore it should be quashed. The Court of Appeal will hear how the Secretary of State failed to consult properly on noise – excluding people who may be significantly affected. It was not possible to assess the noise impact for communities based on actual flight paths as these were not known. The councils will also show how the Secretary of State failed to consider the effect of expansion on local plans. They will also argue that the Secretary of State did not properly consider the significant adverse impact of Heathrow expansion on protected habitats. What’s on at The Exchange September-December 2019 @ExchangeTwick @exchangetwickenham @exchangetwickenham www.exchangetwickenham.co.uk 020 8240 2399 Welcome In October 2019 The Exchange will have been open for two years, managed by St Mary’s University. As of July this year we have hosted just over 200 public events. Around 50 of these have been showcases of young people’s performing arts in partnership with local stage schools, state schools or colleges. Around 50 of the events have been sold out and have included top comedians and personalities coming to Twickenham for the first time. 60 of the events have been films, giving the local public a cinema option it didn’t have previously. In our studio rooms and conservatory we have a steady stream of community groups having training, meetings, wellbeing classes and young people practicing performing arts. St Mary’s University utilises The Exchange for several degree classes, particularly acting and drama, so that in term time the building becomes a hub of young people developing in one way or another. I like to think we are well on our way to fulfilling our vision for the building, that “The Exchange will provide space and opportunity for creativity, expression, learning and enjoyment”. Inside this brochure you will find a varied and diverse array of events. There is a strong Shakespearean theme with Shakespeare Schools’ Festival with us for a week, and the more comic production of Sh*t- Faced Shakespeare for three nights. We also bring Panto to Twickenham in December for two weeks over Christmas.

RICHMOND UPON THAMES MUsIC DRAmA FESTIVAL 2015 28 SEPTEMBER- 18 OCTOBER 2015 www.richmond.gov.uk/musicanddrama INTRODUCTION I am delighted to present the first ever Richmond upon Thames Music and Drama Festival, founded to celebrate the breadth of the performing arts in the Borough. In the first year of this annual festival we are celebrating the arrival of the 2015 Rugby World Cup to Richmond and have three weeks of ‘internationally’ inspired music, dance and drama from local arts organisations, professional artists and Borough schools and young people. Richmond upon Thames has an extremely active arts scene and we are proud to be able to showcase just some of the talent and variety of work that exists in the Borough. With over 80 events taking place across 3 weeks, there truly is ‘something for everyone’: from choral evensongs to rock concerts; folk, jazz and classical music; amateur and professional theatre performances as well as site-specific dance, singing workshops and a programme of events designed especially for community participation! Festival events take place in venues across the whole Borough and we invite you to join us for an exciting three weeks of performance and participation. TRY IT Festival Leading up to and during Rugby World Cup 2015 - 2015 is the inaugural Music and Drama Festival. This is truly a landmark show and we all here at Tales From The Woods are proud to be associated, not just because this is highly likely to be his final tour as reported in our last issue, but also a celebration of 60 years since he opened his first ever tour at the nearby London Hippodrome Theatre to rave reviews from no less a heavyweight tome than the Times. It's hard to imagine now, all these decades later, just how revolutionary it was at the time that a Rock’n’Roll singer and guitarist should merit such praiseworthy words from a publication that can only be described, particularly at that time, as a standard bearer of the establishment, whilst Rock’n’Roll represented the opposite end of the social spectrum; juvenile delinquency, contemptuous, void of any musical value.

A local resident said “ I commend the Committee on its robust response to these demonstrably harmful and inadequate proposals. The proposals failed to offer the sensitivity to local context and amenity and the quality of urban and architectural design that Richmond deserves” Moormead Park Sculpture Sculptor Derek Pearce has been working hard this week turning an old tree which had to be felled into an amazing new sculpture in Moormead Park.
