The Macropolitics of Microsound: Gender and sexual identities in Barry Truax’s Song of Songs

More specifically, when applied to a recognisable voice, the technique affects the quality of that voice and hence the listener’s perception of it. All the recorded sounds on the two soundtracks – every sound in Song of Songs except the live oboe d’amore and English horn – undergo time-stretching (Truax 2010).
