The wonderful old picture on this page is of Felthorn Starlight Express (Lloyd) Bred in the early 1990's by Barbara and Dick Thornley (UK). Barbara Norton (USA) fell in love with him on a trip to UK and persuaded Barbara and Dick to let her take him home with her where he had a wonderful long life and became a Champion in Obedience and Working Trials. He had a wonderful temperament and lived past his seventeenth birthday. A once in a lifetime dog.

Dermatomyositis (DM/FCD) Research A Search for Potential Genetic Cause

May, 2012 Update

Exciting news! PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!

Dr. Leigh Anne Clark of Clemson University recently received word that her research grant proposal regarding Dermatomyositis (DM/FCD) has been funded by the NIH for over $200,000!

Here is a link to the NIH site with the project details: http://projectreporter.nih.gov/project_info_description.cfm?aid=8433553&icde=16397110&ddparam= &ddvalue=&ddsub=&cr=1&csb=default&cs=ASC

It is imperative that we aid Dr. Clark by submitting blood samples from DM affected AND healthy control Shelties. (See below.)

The Canine Genetics Laboratory at Clemson University is conducting research into the genetic component of Dermatomyositis (DM) in Shelties. DM is a devastating dermatologic condition that most commonly affects the skin and/or muscles. Currently the lab is in need of:

• Blood samples from DM affected Shelties, along with a copy of the diagnostic biopsy report. Pedigrees are also requested whenever possible. • Blood samples from Shelties that are 10 years of age or older, are free from any skin conditions, and have no known family history of DM are eligible to participate as controls • A billing number will be provided to cover FedEx shipping of the sample. • All participation is confidential.

Please email Jacquelyn Evans at [email protected] if you are interested in participating in the study.

Additional information about DM may be found on the ASSA website at: http://www.assa.org/health.html#DM.

Walt Christensen Writes

I want to start off and congratulate all the winners and class placements at this year’s ASSA National. There were many, many, beautiful dogs there this week. For Mary and I Saturday at the ASSA 2013 National was a very special day. After watching over a 100 dogs enter the ring during BOB judging and watching Marjorie Tuff, the BOB judge, whittle down her choices to less than 30 dogs it was getting a little nerve wrangling with cut after cut. At that time there were many friends that were in the ring along with Julie Desy and our bitch “Katherine” BISS GCH Neahm’s Kiss Me Kate. When Marjorie started lining them up and it looked like Katherine was going to be BOS I just started bawling and when she made it official that “Noah” GCH Jesstar’s Nirvana was BOB and “Katherine” was BOS I was just “plain done” and cried profusely. I want to congratulate Jessica Starbuck, Rita and Dean VonPusch on BISS, BIS, GCH Jesstar’s Nirvana BOB win. They are great friends and competitors. I want to congratulate young Katie Grohowalski on receiving AOM’s on her 2 charges. Julie Iversen’s “Calvin” BIS BISS GCh Homespun Casual Blues and Katie’s and Nancy Ager’s “Ollietta” GCh Starphire Ollietta who also won a very competitive 9-12 Veterans class. Katie had some well-timed assistance from Terry Jenning’s in helping her with Ollietta’s AOM.

But most of all I want to thank the following: Gini Shaw for her friendship and her support for Katherine. We want to thank Tom and Nioma Coen for inspiring us and constantly challenging us with what they do for the breed. Most of all we want to thank Julie Desy, the incomparable Julie Desy, for her support, her guidance, for putting up with me and my questions on those 5-10 hour drives to shows, for also inspiring me and challenging me within the sport of dogs and life. Mary and I are better persons because of these 4 people. Walt and Mary Christensen

WESTWARD HO: A TRIBUTE TO SHELTIES AND BREEDERS OF THE WESTERN STATES

PRESENTED BY TOM COEN APRIL 26, 2013 AT THE ASSA NATIONAL, ALBANY, OREGON

PRESENTATION ON CH. CHERDEN SOCK IT TO'EM, CD ROM/ROMC

By Cheryl Anderson, Cherden Shelties

"Pow" was whelped in November, 1968, and at barely 6 months old took 3rd place in the 6-9 class at the 1969 Santa Monica ASSA National show.

He was the result of 3 years of pedigree research and visiting over 75 Sheltie kennels to acquire the stock which created the Cherden foundation blend of Ch Nashcrest Golden Note ROM, Ch. Thistlerose Arcwood Aladdin, and Timberidge Crown Jewel ROM.

He was the very first pup whelped from my first homebred litter, a sable to sable breeding which was repeated 3 times, each with good success.

According to Lisa Porch, Ch Halstor's Peter Pumpkin, Ch. Banchory High Born, Pow, and Banchory Reflection are now behind 100% of the USA Shelties shown today.

By Lisa's records, Pow sired 206 litters in his career and from those 206 litters came 35 AKC champions, 15 Canadian champs, and 61 performance titlists. He also produced 1 ROM, an inbred son, Thunder Blue.

As a pup, he stood out from the minute he was born. He had that headpiece, the long archy neck, angles and iron back topline, and that bubbly temperament from the start. He was also fast maturing, very big, very plain black with lots of leg freckles. I can't tell you how many times experienced breeders told me to get rid of him because they thought he was going to go oversize or that he was just too "different".

When grown, he was a tall dog, high on leg, had a rather wide earset, light eyes, his tail barely reached his hock, and his coat was sparse and rusted easily. But his tan was deep copper. He was also white factored, even though plain appearing, and he also passed on the anopthic gene, known to most as the Maltese factor which he inherited from Aladdin along with the ability to produce bicolors.

As a stud, he was very assertive, didn't want you messing with him, yet he was sensible enough that you could run him and his stud sons all together and they would get along fine, although he and High Born hated each other with a passion.

13

He was not a "perfect" dog. But he had a headpiece unlike what was generally seen in that day and age; strong underjaw, full muzzle, clean planes without depth from brow to throat, and a flat brow without "wishbones" on a lean backskull. He had almost no stop at all. For a time, he was a model for Lambert Kay products along with a white Standard Poodle.

When he was 4-1/2 months old at a "B" match, he was excused because the judge could only find one testicle, and late descension has not been uncommon in this stockline. Then, while I was packing up that same day, he jumped out of the car window and green broke his right hind leg. He had to wear a split cast for several weeks, and forever "threw" that leg each time he pushed off to move out. But after his break healed, I road worked him with a bicycle to build those partially atrophied leg muscles back up again. All that roadwork is why he moved so well as a young dog.

Growing up, he hit the puberty freakies like a brick wall after I broke him in at stud at under 10 months of age. I have records of showing him which say "Pow spooked, Pow spooked" during that phase.

So I sent him to Pat Tripp to show him in Canada to break the apron strings, and he completed his requirements in 4 shows as he took Reserve the first day. But the paperwork was never completed so he never officially got that title.

Then I started showing him at home, and he took his first AKC point at age 10- 1/2 months on the old Cal-Or circuit on my birthday. He finished 7 months later when he went BOB over 20 specials at the SSCSC specialty from the classes. I was just playing with him in the ring then because I was so happy he'd finished, doing our famous "pogo bounce" trick, when friends started yelling at me because the judge, Lee Reasin, was standing there pointing at us for breed which I had never even considered. The photo of that day is the one in the Nicholas book.

But most people don't know that it was George Schlinker, PHA, who put most of the points on Pow.

Later, I trained him some more and put his first CD legs on him in addition to showing him at specialties as a special.

One thing that Pow did was to bring the bicolor genetics back into the breed in the USA on a wide scale. This was a trait he got from Aladdin who was tripled in his background. So it was Aladdin, via Pow, who put real quality bicolor dogs on the map as most bis up to that time were usually of poor quality and petted out. So each time you see a bicolor of American lines, you know that Pow or Aladdin are doubled up in the background.

SHELTIE CRAFTS

I have been a quilter for over 20 years. I started making ribbon quilts after my first show dog died. I had been thinking about how to do it for a very long time, but after Rose died, I decided I was going to sit down and figure it out before I made another thing. This is what I made.

About this time, someone had posted on a Yahoo Group they had just lost their dog and was wondering what everyone did with the ribbons. So I wrote to her, attaching a photo of Roses quilt and suggested she let me make her a quilt. Well little did I know that this dog was #1 Obedience Dog for 2006, I received several big boxes of ribbons! I was able to make her 2 rather big quilts.

I posted photos on my website and word spread about my work. Soon I was buried in boxes of ribbons! Since then I have sort of standardized my method of making the quilts. But every quilt is different and since some rosettes are bigger or smaller, I still have to get creative sometimes to figure out how to make everything “fit” together.

19

After 5 years of doing this, each new box of ribbons I receive is still like opening a gift on Christmas! I love doing this and hope to continue making beautiful memorials of treasured four legged friends for a long, long time. I also make crate covers, vests to wear and teddy bears. Don’t have very many ribbons? I make pillows, tote bags and chair back covers that only take a few ribbons. See everything I make at www.quiltingcove.com/Ribbons

IVERMECTIN SENSITIVITY

(Yes, Belle is a Rough Collie, but Shelties with the MDR1 drug sensitivity gene could have similar reactions to Ivermectin that Belle has had, see below.) (Editor)

Maritime Animal Hospital New Brunswick, Canada

March 25th 2013 This is Belle our sleeping beauty. She has been with us since last Sunday and has been in a semi coma. Through out the week she has slowly improved. When she presented to us she was unable to stand, blind, drooling excessively and was having involuntary muscle twitching. She unfortunately ate a horse de-wormer that contained Ivermectin. Within hours she went into a coma. Today Belle is responding to sounds and touch as well as attempting to sit up and eat. We expect her to make a full recovery. We want to caution owners about the use of cattle or horse de-wormers with dogs especially herding dogs such as Collies. (and also Shelties. Ed) We want to thank Ford's apothecary for providing us with life saving medication after hours.

According to Vin: Collies with Ivermectin sensitivity have been found to have a mutant gene for what is called the P-glycoprotein. The P-glycoprotein has been studied largely because over expression of this protein (i.e., having more of it than normal) results in poor function of chemotherapy drugs during cancer treatment. The P-glycoprotein appears to be involved in keeping drugs out of certain body tissues. Having excess P- glycoprotein keeps chemotherapy drugs from reaching the tumor. When it comes to Ivermectin sensitivity, the problem is the opposite: mutant or non-functional P- glycoprotein leads to failure to keep certain drugs out of the central nervous system, allowing them access to sensitive tissue. Side effects stem from Ivermectin entering the central nervous system.

21

Approximately 35% of Collies have a genetic mutation creating a non-functional P- glycoprotein. This allows for Ivermectin doses that would normally be blocked from the central nervous system to gain access to it. Other herding breeds as listed above also tend to express this mutation. There is now a test for P-glycoprotein mutation so that Ivermectin-sensitive dogs can be identified. This is a DNA test using an oral swab. Test kits can be ordered directly from the Washington State University Veterinary School.

Heartworm preventive doses are so low that side effects are not produced even in Ivermectin-sensitive individuals.

Side effects of concern are: dilated pupils and drunken gait that can progress to respiratory paralysis and death if medication is not withdrawn and supportive care is not initiated.

March 26th 2013 Belle is trying to stand up today. Her owners are very thankful for all the words of encouragement!

March 29th 2013 Update on Belle....Our sleeping beauty. Yesterday she was able to stand for a few minutes. She is still not able to walk. She can drink about 3-4 licks of water at a time. We placed a nasogastric tube that goes into her nostril to her oesophagus and then into her stomach. It is a small tube that is very comfortable for patients in Belle's condition. With this tube she is able to be fed a liquid diet. We were able to take Belle off intravenous fluids. Her Owners were able to take her home last night. Belle is now home surrounded by her family and able to enjoy Easter in her own home.

April 1st 2013 She is doing well, walking outside now, drinking ensure on her own, her feeding tube is removed. Is starting to eat some canned food with water throughout the day! She is showing great improvements and we are very happy for her and her family.

April 1st 2013 We did want to mention that this is an accidental ingestion. Ivermectin is sold over the counter for horses and there are no warnings on the label. Please discuss any medications (regardless of breed) and de-wormers with your vet to decide which is the best option for you and your pet.

April 2nd 2013 Belle was in today for a visit. She is walking with some instability but able to move fairly well around her house. She is now drinking liquid food and does not need the nasogastric tube. Her vision is coming back slowly She will make a full recovery. Belle's owners want to thank everyone for their prayers and many comments encouraging her recovery.

*The ‘Global Shelties Magazine’ Editor wishes Belle a full recovery, and would like to thank the Maritime Animal Hospital, and Belle’s owners for giving permission for us to print this story in this edition*

THERAPY FOR - WHOM?

Eile went to the University of Rochester tonight for our monthly visit as a stress reliever for students. There was a particular student who obviously had the "Midas touch" in giving dog massages because EILE was putty in her hands!! And WHO exactly was giving therapy to whom? The student stayed with Eile for 30 minutes and said it was the best part of her evening! She misses her dog back at home, and she said just petting a dog makes her day. She made Eile's night based on the picture on the left! It's a tough job being a therapy dog, isn't it?!

SHOW RESULTS AND JUDGES REPORTS HERE: http://www.sscv1936.com/ShowResults.htm

The 53rd Victoria Sheltie Championship Show held on the Saturday 27TH April 2013 and Judged by myself Brian Turner of Rimini Shelties [Adelaide S.A] how I saw the day.

I Left my motel at Macedon at about 6.45am with me and my sisters dogs which weren’t entered for this show we arrived at the grounds at Bulla Victoria at approximately 7.30am and proceed to erect our gazebo walk and settle the dogs in their pens then it was up to the secretary to sign all the required paper work for the show and meet my assembly steward Max ring steward John and the critique typist Gael.

It seemed no time and we were in the ring with the baby puppy dog class, the total overall entry was around the 155 and a further 39 entries in the following classes Headed* Gaited* Best Sable *Best Tricolour /Black and White and Blue Merle so a busy time for all lay ahead.

The day turned out to very windy and this plus being close to the airport had some affect on some of the dogs so allowance were made for those that were affected by this it was at times difficult to see the ear set but by moving the dogs into a different position we overcame this problem and though most shelties don’t like the wind almost all showed well for owners.

My three helpers mentioned above did a superb of keeping me on time and dogs up to me this certainly made my job a lot easier on the day and we had a good chat over lunch which the club workers are to be congratulated on also thank you for inviting my sister along to join us.

I had some very good dogs but awarded my challenge to the Junior Montage Escapade he went on to be my Best in Show who was 13 months my reserve went to Sup Ch Deerod Rich Reward there were many others that on a different day may have take these awards but we judge on the day the same could also be said for the bitches and it was interesting to see quite of few of my place getters awarded by Sundays Judge Mr Brian Hull from England.

32

The bitches the challenge went to Ch Louanda Simply Amazing who took outrunner Up Best in Show and was Brian Hulls Reserve Challenge the next day the reserve challenge went to my 2nd in open bitch class Ch Daydream Drusilla overall in my opinion the bitches had more depth in quality than the dogs.

The Victorian Sheltie Club Championship Shows are the largest in Australia and exhibitors travel from all round Australia with visitors from New Zealand etc, we have a mixture of English *Australian *American and mixed group from all in their breeding so there are quite a few different styles to choose from so all we can do is select from those that are the best and closest to the breed standard.

Lastly but not least I thank all those who entered under me and thank all of you for accepting my placings and should any of you who are judges here in Australia or elsewhere be asked to judge at this show don’t hesitant because you will see a lot of best shelties here in and Australia and be well looked after by the committee of the Shetland Sheepdog club of Victoria who are to be congratulated on holding two championship shows on the weekend.

RUSSIAN SHELTIE SPECIALITY SHOW MOSCOW, RUSSIA

April 13th 2013

Judge: Barbara Jane Tunnicliffe (Dippersmoor) (UK)

Sheltie Speciality Show

It was a privilege to be invited to judge this show in Moscow. With my suitcase packed full with various thermals (I had been keeping an eye on the weather for the previous 2 weeks and the temperature had varied between minus 5 and zero). I boarded the 747 at Heathrow and was delighted to say that the 3 hour flight went very quickly thanks to the company of a vary charming and witty Russian guy who I could have sworn was Artem from (the TV show) ‘Strictly Come Dancing’!!

I was met by members of the show Committee at Moscow and introduced to the other judges from America, Spain, Italy, Slovakia and another UK judge. The hospitality, company, hotel and food were all excellent throughout my stay. The worst part was the amount of traffic and manic drivers in and around the city; in fact the first thing we saw on leaving the airport was a car on its roof in the middle of the road.

At a welcome meal on the first evening we discovered that on the 13th there were two shows at the same venue and another show the day after. After many attempts to find out which day we were all judging on, all was finally made clear, and the judging system out there was explained to us all. I was to judge the Sheltie Speciality Show.

34 Once at the show I was introduced to my steward who did a great job and, at the end of my judging she presented me with some postcards showing famous artists work and explained all about these to me. How she knew that art is an interest of mine I am not sure but her kind thoughts were greatly appreciated.

The baby puppy classes (3 – 6 months) had some charming youngsters on show and their showmanship put some of the older exhibits to shame. I did find quite a number of exhibits in other classes where ring training was obviously in short supply and thus prejudiced their chances.

On the whole the quality was good although size rather varied, heads were mostly of an acceptable standard, dentition was fine and only two with missing teeth. Construction, especially hind quarters was, in most cases very good, sadly several exhibits would have benefited from having more time spent on their presentation and I had to clean my hands on several occasions!

My Best of Breed was a charming sable bitch winner of the Club Champion Class. She presented a lovely example of what the breed should look like, having a lovely reach of neck, beautiful balanced head and was shown and presented to perfection, she was of ideal size and moved really well.

Best Dog, shown in full coat also presented an excellent example of the breed but chose not to use his ears when it mattered.

My Junior Bitch Champion (a tri colour) I fell for completely and she will trouble the best for sure.

I thoroughly enjoyed the day and was delighted with my ultimate winners all of which I would have happily brought home.

The show closed at 7.30pm and we were whisked straight off for a traditional Russian feast which included tiny suckling pig and so many other dishes that I lost count. We were entertained by live singers and belly dancers! By midnight, we (the various judges) were so tired that we requested to go back to the hotel. We were ferried back in various taxis and, needless to say my taxi kept cutting out and was then stopped by the Police. I don’t think you argue with the Russian Police!

Our final day was sightseeing with typical Russian lunch and came to a conclusion with a fabulous evening meal in our hotel.

I enjoyed every moment of the whole adventure and met some delightful people and lovely Shelties.

My principal winners are given below:

Best Baby: Art Filisiti Penelope Cruz Best Puppy: Russkiy Versall Tradition Best Junior: Art Filisiti Dolce Gabbana Best Veteran: Lustrous Kalipso Best Male: Evad Shore Surprize Best Female: Marvitholl Marmalade Best of Breed: Marvitholl Marmalade Best in Show: Marvitholl Marmalade

INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION KENIA RAJ DLA ZWIERZAT JUBELEE OF THE HUNDRED

Photo: Ewa Sroga

My name is Eve. I live in Krakow and I have bred shelties for 10 years. My kennel is Figa Ruminy FCI. I want to tell you about the results of my last two Dog Shows. On 15-17 April 2013 the Polish Kennel Club organized the XVIII International Dog Show - CACIB Katowice 2013. In the veteran class I participated with my ten years old bitch - KENIA Raj dla Zwierzat Int.Ch. (Ch.PL,SK,CZ). She got an excellent note and took the second place. According to my calculations, it was the hundredth Dog Shaw for KENIA! I’m pleased the fact that she is very happy to enter the ring. Her condition and movement are still excellent. In the finals of Best Breeding Group on the 3-day of the Show (17 april 2013), I participated with seven other kennels - including three sheltie kennels, judged by Carlos Fernandez-Renau from Spain. We showed three females from my kennel - BONA DEA Figa Ruminy, DANAE DIVITA Figa Ruminy and DIA DOCTA Figa Ruminy - we have got first place. It is a great success ! On 14 April 2013 the Polish Kennel Club organized the XVIII National Dog Show - CAC Czestochowa. KENIA Raj dla Zwierzat participated in her 101 Dog Show. This time she was excellent 1, Best Veteran of Breed, Best of Breed, Best of Group-I 1, Best Veteran in Show 1… Best wishes from Ewa Sroga www.figaruminy.pl Poland.

HELP SAVE JACK

From Jack’s Facebook Page:

This is the entire story from start to finish. Hopefully by reading this, ALL answers to all questions should be found here, from what we know as of today. Jack is a 7 yr old Sheltie, who on Wednesday, March 27, was startled and scared by the owners granddaughter, who possibly fell upon Jack, who in return nipped her on her lower cheek. it was his first and Ever bite! She has grown up with Jack all her life along with her 10 year old brother. He has always been a loving, gentle, sweet dog, never showing any aggression. Gia had to have 4 stitches and is healing wonderfully. Since the nip, she has shown no fear of the other family dog also a sheltie named Chloe. She keeps putting her hands out asking, Where's Jack... where's Jack?

The family of course worships the ground their granddaughter walks on; she is first and foremost above anything. If the family thought for one second that this was a vicious attack, they would be the first to have Jack put down...but that is NOT the case! Unfortunately this all started when Gia, went to the hospital to get the 4 stitches and authorities contacted animal control officer Nick Morosco. Later that evening, Mr. Morosco came to the home of Jack, he never even asked to see Jack or evaluate him. He then asked that the family bring Jack to the Steven Swans Humane Society, so that he could be quarantined for 10 days, which is mandated by law. He advised the family that after 10 days Jack would be released, because this was his first and ever bite. The family was then notified that they had to appear in New Hartford Town Court. They thought they were appearing because Jack was never licensed. They appeared not having an attorney nor were they asked if they needed one. With no evidence and no prior history of Jack being aggressive, Judge Van Slyke then deemed the dog to death. The family was in total shock! Because of the love they have for Jack and hoping that the judge would change his mind in the ordering of Jack to be put down, the family then asked the judge if they could have Jack go and live with his breeder, who lives about 20 miles away in the country. The judge also ruled that out. The family was extremely saddened and also could not believe the outcome as they were leaving the court house, Judge VanSlyle then turned to them and said, 'Don't forget the money clock is ticking'. After leaving the court house they felt like their hands were tied, and had no idea of what to do next, as this would be a huge unexpected expense, that would normally cost thousands of dollars. They thought when leaving the court house that Jack would be euthanized on Saturday, April 6.

When returning home they reached out to Marianne Leach, a friend and also Jack's breeder, in hopes of trying to do something to save Jack from being murdered on Saturday. Marianne of course being terribly upset over this outrageous order, turned to a close friend of hers, by the name of Dana A Carney-Madigan. Dana has done a lot for animals in our area. Marianne asked her if she could help in any way?

42

The next day, Wednesday April 3rd, Dana contacted the Beratta family, to get the whole story with all the details. She started a facebook page, called a local radio station, as well as our 2 local news stations, WKTV and WUTR to get the word out, about this outlandish event. She was and has been very determined to 'Help Save Jack'... a dog she had never even had the pleasure of meeting at that point.

Once made public and the story was out, people were absolutely outraged, donations started coming in through the 'Help Save Jack’ Facebook page, the family were then slowly no longer feeling helpless. On Friday the day before Jack was to be euthanized, Natalie Beratta, Jack's owner quickly appealed the order set by judge Vanslyke. This process is very time consuming as well as very costly, much paperwork has to be filed. You would be amazed, we were totally unaware of all that needed to be done. An attorney by the name of Louis, read the article which was posted by Dana on the WKTV's Facebook page and offered his services Pro-bono. Louis currently lives in NYC, but is originally from this area, and he obviously has a love for dogs!! He is a very busy man but has taken his time to help us with this case. The community keeps asking, 'What is taking so long'? Jack should be out!! We appealed the order, but that is far from all the other things that go along with it. We, as not being lawyers had no idea, what a huge process this would be, but are moving along now with the help of Louis. God Bless Him.

During this process Jack is being held in the quarantine section at the Steven Swan Humane society, when first brought in they had to treat Jack like any other dog. All dogs are treated the same, whether it be a dangerous vicious attack or just a nip. They have a contract with our local court system and they are only a holding facility. Because the employees are at risk when any dog comes in under court order as being called dangerous, they must charge a fee of $40.00 per day to house the dog. With in the past few days of Jack being there for (over two months now), the employees as well as the director have been around Jack long enough to realize he is far from dangerous and are speaking out on Jack's behalf in a very positive matter.

Natalie and Dana were allowed to visit Jack for the first time (At the end of April). He was 'soooo' excited to see his mom. She brought him his special treats, he was licking her hands and face non-stop. Dana had tears rolling down her face. This was the first time Dana had the pleasure of meeting Jack. As she put her hands through the bars to pet Jack, he kept licking her non-stop as well, and didn’t even know her. They have to admit, they were treated very nice and respectfully by the facility. It was immaculate and had a very pleasant atmosphere. The family is in no way blaming the Humane Society as they are just doing their job and are only involved in holding Jack through a court order. Jack will remain there until this case goes back to court, which will hopefully be very soon, after Monday the court has I believe 10 days to look at the appeal and if they accept it then we will receive a court date. I hope this answers ALL your questions!!

For all of you commenting and asking to take Jack, that is not the problem here. The problem is keeping Jack alive! The family would like THEIR dog Jack, to go live with his canine family out in the country, so he can run, play and swim in the family pool! This family currently has Jack's dad, his brother, and sister. This way Jack's family, owner Natalie, her husband Phil, and Daughter, Nicole, (ALL Adults) could go and visit their precious Jack anytime they want. They could still get to hug, pet, and kiss his head!! This is all so very sad...

Thanks to all of you for the wonderful cards sent for Jack, when and if released, we will read them all to him. If you would like to donate in Help saving Jack, you can use the Pay pal email address: [email protected], or write a check as the address is posted here. We also need many prayers and shares as well. Please pray for the Judge to make the right decision to give Jack a second chance so he can finish out his precious life....Thank-you Dana Carney 33 Harrison Ave Ilion, NY 13357
