CLX Economic Development Team Attends TrustBelt Conference In August, the Commerce Lexington Inc. Economic Development team attended the TrustBelt conference in Louisville. TrustBelt is the only event of its kind focused exclusively on the redevelopment of the former U.S. Rust Belt. This conference brings together corporations, site selec - tion consultants, and economic development agencies. Secat Celebrates 20 Years in Lexington In late August, Secat celebrated its 20th anniversary in Lexington. Secat is a metallurgical research laboratory specializing in aluminum technology. They assist companies with materials testing, failure analysis, alloy devel - opment, and the enhancement of processes and properties. In order to qualify for BOAB , you must have been in business for at least two years, be the owner or co owner of a business ‐ and currently generate revenue for your business. If qualifications are met, applicants will be placed in a group that best suits their schedule and business type and avoids any conflict with direct competitors.

Groups Helping Small Businesses Succeed Although interaction with fellow Commerce Lex - ington Inc. members is always good for busi - ness - BOAB is not designed as a networking or leads group. Each board is made up of eight business owners with similar concerns, but who are NOT in direct competition with each other. There is NO CHARGE to participate in this pro - gram, which is open only to Commerce Lexing - ton members. Board members commit to meeting on a monthly basis for two to three hours per meeting, and each group sets its own agenda. The boards offer encouragement and sound business advice for tackling the day-to- day challenges faced by business owners.
