First Street in downtown Sanford. Independence Day is packed with great traditions and no holiday transcends warm weather fun, great food and outdoor bands like July 4th. Come spend a day on the lakefront with family and friends, cool down at Ft. Mellon Park’s splash pad, visit the vendors for great food and trinkets, all while listening to live music from the stage in Ft. Mellon Park. This event has been planned by the City of Sanford for the entire family to come and enjoy this grand celebration, and there’s no better place to celebrate the Nation's Independence Day than in historic downtown Sanford and on the waterfront. Come early and visit the downtown businesses and then head to the lakefront park. Be sure to bring lounge chairs or blankets for seating at Ft. Mellon Park or along the waterfront. And then there are the fireworks!
