Our goal is to make a Christian Difference in the lives of others and ourselves. This list will be updated monthly. For all things UMVIM, visit www.umvim.info! Projects do not need to be United Methodist in order to be listed, but must be safe, ethical, and approved by the United Methodist Volunteers In Mission (UMVIM) coordinator for the conference in which it resides. To add a project to the list, fill out and submit the U.S.A. Project Profile Form for approval by your conference UMVIM Coordinator(s). This form is available on the Web at the same location as this list. Once your new project is approved, the Conference Coordinator will forward it to the North Central Jurisdiction UMVIM Office for publication. Conference UMVIM coordinator contact information can be found on this list, on the GBGM web site, or through your jurisdictional coordinator (contact information above). - 1 - Some projects are also Advance projects. INDIANA – HENRYVILLE Long-term recovery (LTR) efforts have been underway in southern Indiana for tornado survivors with United Methodist Volunteer In Mission teams beginning to head out to assist residents of the five-county area affected by the March 2, 2012 tornadoes. More than 450 homes need to be rebuilt or repaired. The Indiana Conference Disaster Response and UM Volunteer in Mission teams are collaborating our work. a. For team or individual opportunities contact Volunteers ROC - Rebuilding Our Communities. Indiana UM Disaster Team is participating with V-ROC to assign work and arrange housing at Country Lake Retreat Center, if needed. Contact: 574-231-7019, or [email protected]. A volunteer or staff member will contact you within 24 hours to discuss work availability based on the team member information (number, skills, etc.) that you have provided. When staying at Country Lake Retreat Center, your group will receive three meals a day and bunkhouse style accommodations with a “bath house” nearby. Breakfast and dinner are hot meals served at the facility; supplies are available each day to prepare your own sack lunch to take to your worksite. The cost is $75 per person for the week. To maintain these low costs through the expected recovery to April 2013, please bring one or more support persons for each ten team members. These “Volunteer Support” volunteers will assist in the kitchen with housekeeping, office work and/or grounds duties. All persons on construction sites must be at least 16 years old. There are projects for younger members, too. As of Aug 27, 2012, V-ROC has funding for 23 rebuilds to be started, plus those in progress. There is a particular need for volunteers in November. Construction skills are helpful, but there will also be painting, cleaning, site cleanup, etc. - 3 - Questions?: Contact Beth McDaniel, IN UMC Volunteers In Mission Coordinator, [email protected], 317-705-1870. b.
