SPIRITUAL DIRECTION IS AVAILABLE - Spiritual direction encourages you to explore a closer relationship with God. Community Notes

THE GABRIEL PROJECT is a parish-based ministry that seeks to provide emotional, material and spiritual support for pregnant women and families in need. We seek to plant the seed of God's love within the hearts of women and men who feel overwhelmed, lost, alone and afraid - whether rich or poor, single, married, young or older. We are trying to determine the interest level in our parish and are currently seeking individuals interested in becoming Gabriel Angels and other supporting volunteers. If you feel called to this ministry, please contact Cindy Farmer at [email protected] or 254-644-1129.

ST. JOSEPH’S PARISH IN BELLMEAD will sponsor a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec 5th. They are looking for vendors to sell their handmade items. For additional details or booth rentals please contact Travis Collier at 254-716-4488 or at [email protected]

Quick Questions

Do Catholics believe in the Rapture?

The word Rapture is connected to the Latin word rapiemur, which appears in Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians in the Latin translation of the Bible. It means to be raised up or caught up:

The dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord. (1 Thess. 4:16–17)

Therefore, Catholics believe that those Christians who are still living at the Second Coming of Christ will be gathered together with those who have died in Christ to be forever with the Lord. Catholics do not generally use the term Rapture, nor do they believe in a Rapture that will take place some time before the Second Coming, as do many Evangelicals.
