Works notice: informal footpath closure Hope
Street to West Street, Brunswick Work is underway on the Bell to Moreland Level Crossing Removal Project, which will see four level crossings removed on the Upfield line, new stations built at Moreland and Coburg, and new open space created beneath the elevated rail line.
From Monday 15 June 2020, the project team will install temporary train power and signalling equipment next to the rail line, between Hope Street and the West Street rail pedestrian crossing. The works will take approximately one week to complete.
To ensure community safety and to protect this vital equipment, the informal footpath will close from Monday 15 June until late 2020. Alternative pedestrian access will be available (see map overleaf).
This equipment will keep trains running between the City and Anstey Station during major construction, starting 28 July.
Changes to how you travel • Informal footpath between Hope Street and the West Street rail pedestrian crossing will close from Monday 15 June until late 2020. • Alternative pedestrian access available on the east of the rail line, along the Upfield Bike Path and west of the rail line via Bryant Street, Frederick Street and Orient Grove (see map overleaf).
What to expect • Works between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday and 7am to 3pm, Saturdays • Activity and noise from construction machinery and workers • Intermittent truck movements to and from site • Machinery will only be switched on when required, to minimise noise • Project team will monitor works to assess noise, vibration and dust impacts as the works occur

Health and safety
The health and safety of our workers and the community is our key priority as we continue to deliver the Bell to Moreland project, as is supporting social distancing measures in line with current health advice. We have strict protocols in place to protect the safety of our construction workforce, including enhanced industrial cleaning arrangements, provision of personal protective equipment and measures to reduce staff contact, including staggered shifts.
