About Us Curtis Granderson, Major League Baseball Outfielder, three-time MLB All-Star, 2016 Roberto Clemente Humanitarian Award winner, 2011 Silver Slugger Award, three time Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award recipient, and UIC Alumnus, founded the Chicago Baseball & Educational Academy (CBEA) in 2015. CBEA is dedicated to providing high quality baseball education and mentoring programs to youth who otherwise would not have access to such programs. We make a difference by: • Working with more than 60 existing neighborhood organizations serving 10,000 children by providing high quality practice facilities, professional baseball staff, and mentorship opportunities for their volunteer coaches • Providing ongoing professional quality baseball camps to 200 children between the ages of 10 and 18 • Strengthening the capacity and impact of existing neighborhood organizations and leaders through strategic partnerships, ongoing coaching, and resource support. 2019 Highlights The year 2019 proved to be an historic year for CBEA. With your support, we are confident that we will do even more in 2020. Here are some highlights from 2019: • Featured twice on NBC 5 Chicago Sports broadcast • Hosted one of the midwest’s only all-girl baseball workshop • Partnered with Baseball for All to provide the largest all-girl baseball camp with almost 80 girls receiving coaching from world-class instructors • Created a six-week training camp that worked with five Chicago little league organizations helping 100 children improve their skills • Strengthened the programmatic impact of 60 Chicago baseball organizations including the Chicago Cubs and White Sox • Hosted a panel of women leading in sports. The panel included women who stand out as leaders and have prominent roles in the front office of large sports institutions.
