As a new platform release, MicroStrategy 2020 introduces new features that provide better performance and scalability to enhance the overall user experience. In addition, this release introduces new features across the analytics, mobility, and security platform - making it easier for users to build applications faster. Below are the new features exclusive to MicroStrategy 2020. For customers with an upgrade gap of more than one version, the Readme for all intermediate versions can be found in the Learning Center. For a list of all the resolved issues in this MicroStrategy release, see Defects and Enhancements Addressed in MicroStrategy 2020. Additionally, check out the Platform Certifications page to view a new dossier that contains a list of what is certified and/or supported in MicroStrategy 2020. MicroStrategy Repository To help reduce deployment complexity MicroStrategy now includes an embedded repository that can support the following MicroStrategy products: l Metadata Repository l Collaboration Server l Platform Analytics You are not required to leverage the embedded repository for any of these products, but the infrastructure is installed and ready for use should this be the right fit for your deployment. MicroStrategy Workstation l Introduction of document creation in Workstation. l Enhanced local discovery of .mstr files on Workstation for Windows. l English (UK) has been added as a supported language for Workstation. l Dossier authoring enchantments, including: l New Graph Matrix charts now support trendlines and forecasting. l Use free-form layout in dossiers to organize and overlap visualizations and other containers. You can independently position, size, and layer them on a page. l Users can quickly arrange visualizations in a dossier. l Ability to embed SurveyMonkey or SurveyGizmo surveys in a dossier. l Link between prompted dossiers and apply the same prompt answers in each dossier. l Link from one dossier to another while passing the filter panel selections. l Use a visualization in a dossier to filter data in a different dossier. l Create standalone metrics for an application. Use these metrics in any of your dossiers, documents, and reports within the same application. l Create attribute or metric visualization selectors. l Optimize the performance of derived objects: Skip the evaluation of unused derived attributes and derived elements in a dossier to improve performance during execution. This indicator eliminates the need to expand the branch to see if children are selected. l MDX drivers support importing SAP HANA hierarchies as hierarchical attributes. l Ability to add and edit descriptions in derived metrics from a Data Import cube containing hierarchical attributes. l Increased administrative capabilities, including: l Ability for customers to select the data engine version used to execute queries. l View, edit, and export Intelligence Server governing settings. l View, edit, and export Application settings. l Create and manage security roles. l View and edit Intelligence Server and auxiliary cache settings. l View and edit Intelligent Cube settings. l Import Users and Groups from an LDAP directory. l Set memory allocation and governance settings for jobs at the User or User Group level.
