Press Release Press Release JULY 31, 2016 2016 Formula 1 German Grand Prix Renault Sport Formula One Team didn’t enjoy the German Grand Prix that it wanted today at the Hockenheimring. Starting 14th on the grid, Jolyon Palmer made a decent start, however flatspotted his tyres then made contact with a rival on the first lap. This necessitated an early pit stop, and a tough race pushing hard from behind ensued. Kevin Magnussen worked up the order early on, although betterthanexpected performance from threestopping rivals meant his hard work was undone in the latter stages of the 67 lap race. Kevin finished in sixteenth, Jolyon in nineteenth. Kevin started the race from P16 with new set of Pirelli’s red supersoft tyres. He changed to new supersofts on lap 11 then new soft compound (yellow) tyres on lap 32. Jolyon started the race in P14 on new supersoft tyres. He changed to new softs at the end of the first lap then scrubbed supersofts on laps 25 and 45. Kevin Magnussen, #20, R.S.1601: Started P16, finished P16 "We decided on a twostop strategy before the race as all the data pointed to it being the correct thing to do, however we saw that the three stop strategy of our rivals worked better today. This wasn’t immediately obvious and we were too committed to the twostop so it’s a lesson learnt. We were too slow on the soft compound on the final stint and our degradation on the supersoft was greater than expected which undid our opportunities of finishing higher today." Jolyon Palmer, #30, R.S.1604: Started P14, finished P19 "Everything was really positive coming into this event, and I had a good start; I think I was up to tenth, so it’s a disappointing result today. I had a big lock up in turn two and massively flatspotted my tyres. I could barely see where I was going because of the vibrations and I tipped a Williams whilst trying to hold on from one of the McLarens. This damaged my front wing which we changed at the second pit stop. After that there wasn’t much I could do. It’s a shame but we can take the positives, put the rest behind us and focus on the second half of the season." Fred Vasseur, Team Principal "Despite not getting the result we wanted today there are a lot of positive to take from this weekend. We reached Q2 in qualifying with Jolyon and we showed that we are able to regularly fight with Haas and Toro Rosso during races, which wasn’t the case in previous events. Both drivers fought hard today however neither was able to finish strongly. The two stop strategy ultimately didn’t work out for Kevin due to timing and better than expected pace from our rivals in the latter part of the race. Jolyon made a super start but unfortunately flat spotted his tyres so wasn’t able to deliver on the potential shown from his qualifying. We’ll come back after the break fighting." Red Bull Racing Red Bull Racing enjoyed a superb German Grand Prix with drivers Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo fighting over second position for much of the race. Max made a tremendous start from P4 on the grid to overtake his teammate and Nico Rosberg and slot into second position. Daniel fought back, proving faster in the final stint on supersoft tyres to overtake softshod Verstappen and take second position, just 6.99seconds behind race winner Lewis Hamilton. Red Bull Racing have overtaken Ferrari for second position in the Constructors’ Championship whilst Daniel and Max remain in third and sixth positon respectively in the drivers’ standings. FEDERATION INTERNATIONALE DE L'AUTOMOBILE Press Information 2016 British Grand Prix Saturday Post Qualifying Press Conference Transcript 09.07.2016 DRIVERS 1 – Lewis HAMILTON (Mercedes) 2 – Nico ROSBERG (Mercedes) 3 – Max VERSTAPPEN (Red Bull Racing) TV UNILATERAL Lewis, great lap, you were just watching it on the screens before you took your seat, so tell us about how you felt about it, as I say your fourth British pole? But a little bit of pressure there for that final run having had your previous time deleted, so how do you feel about that? Lewis HAMILTON: Well firstly I want to say how amazing and grateful I am for all the fans that are here this weekend. From Thursday until today, just the biggest crowd that I think I’ve ever seen. The energy and the wave that they send is just mesmerising. So big thank you to everyone that is out there for the positive energy. Not the cleanest qualifying session. I think we had really good pace… Q1 I ran wide a bit wide at Turn Three and lost about four tenths there. And then after that I had really good pace. The penultimate lap was a very good lap but unfortunately it was taken away. I touched the kerb but it pulled me further. It didn't feel like I was going to be running wide but the car bottomed and kind of bounced just outside the line. A lot of pressure for that last lap. I was just sitting in the garage and I knew that I couldn't let the guys down as on the first lap I had.

  • Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Report
COMMUNIQUÉ DE PRESSE 20141123 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX RACE REPORT Daniel Ricciardo’s storming performance helped him recover from a pitlane start and end his impressive first season at Infiniti Red Bull Racing with a fourth place finish in today’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel couldn’t quite match his teammate’s heroics en route to eighth, while Scuderia Toro Rosso’s JeanEric Vergne just missed out on the points in 12th. Romain Grosjean fought back from grid and drivethrough penalties to finish 13th for Lotus F1 Team, and Caterham F1 Team’s Will Stevens enjoyed a solid first Formula 1 appearance by coming home 17th. Key race points: Abu Dhabi’s unique late evening start time provided a stunning backdrop to the world championship decider and also threw up a variety of tyre strategies as the track cooled throughout the evening. Starting from the pitlane proved no hindrance to the Red Bull pair who diligently picked their way through the midfield during the opening stint on prime tyres. Ricciardo had the best of the traffic and was up to fifth when he pitted for the first time on lap 28. Another fast and consistent stint saw him running third when he stopped for the final time to switch to the option tyres with just eight laps remaining, before finishing one place higher than where he originally qualified. Vettel was also able to charge through on the same strategy but could only finish eighth despite picking off both Fernando Alonso and Nico Rosberg over the final 10 laps.

For more than 115 years Renault has embraced the challenge of motorsport in multiple guises. It recognised the value of competitive activities for technical and commercial gain: in December 1898 Louis Renault drove the Type A Voiturette up the steepest street in Paris, the rue Lepic. The first orders for the ground-breaking car with direct drive flooded in. In 1902 the nimble, lightweight Type K, fitted with Renault’s first 4-cylinder engine, took victory in the Paris-Vienna rally. Again, many more cars were sold. Going through the years, in 1977 Renault introduced the first-ever turbocharged car to F1.
