Highlights of this week's report include:

● Snowy Owl ● Long-Eared Owl

On Friday January 5th, the Wilmington Snowy Owl was still present. The area is being monitored by the police due to the parking.

Also reported were Horned Larks on Conservancy Road and a Towhee at Germantown Metropark.

On Saturday, January 6 at Buckcreek State Park, the following were observed: a Mute Swan, Black Ducks, Pintails and Gadwalls.

On Sunday, January 7, a Long Eared Owl was reported at George Rogers Clark Park.

The Horned Larks and Lapland Longspurs were still present on the west side of Dog Leg Road north of US 40.

The highlights of this week's report are:

● Northern Saw-whet Owl ● Red-shouldered Hawk ● Bald Eagle

On January 15th, there was a Northern Saw-whet Owl reported at Englewood Metropark. Also, a flock of Golden-crowned Kinglets was observed.

A Red-shouldered Hawk was seen at on the 15th.

A Bald Eagle was reported on the Miami River near Carillon Park.

On the 13th, a Hermit Thrush was observed at Charleston Falls.

There is currently good birding on the Miami River. Observed over the last week were:

Hooded Merganser Pied-billed Grebe Mute Swan Redhead Gadwall Northern Shoveler Herring Gull Ring-billed Gull

Follow the road west of the river to Sun Watch Village for the best viewing.

A Northern Shrike has been reported north of Ludlow Falls.

A Fox Sparrow was reported at Aullwood Audubon Center.

A Bald Eagle has been observed since January 5th at Englewood Metropark.

Cooper's Hawks have been reported in a number of backyards.

On Jan 19th, Mute Swans were reported on the Miami River.

The highlights of this week's report are:

● Red-winged Blackbird ● Rusty Blackbird ● Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

On February 4th, 6 Red-winged Blackbirds and 1 Rusty Blackbird were reported at Spring Valley Wildlife Area. In addition, the boardwalk at Spring Valley is still closed.

On February 4th, a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was observed at Woodland Cemetery. Also one was reported in a backyard observation.

At Caesar Creek State Park on February 4th, the following ducks were observed: Canvasback, Common Goldeneye, Ring-necked Duck, American Black Duck and Gadwall.

On January 28th on the river in Dayton, the following were observed: American Coots, Common Merganser, Hooded Merganser , Northern Shoveler and Common Goldeneye.

An adult and an immature Bald Eagle are being observed at Englewood Metropark.

There have been reports of brief observations of Red-breasted Nuthatches in backyards.

● Blue Phase Snow Goose ● Common Grackle

On February 8th, two Turkey Vultures were observed at Sugarcreek Metropark.

On February 11th at Englewood Metropark, a Blue Phase Snow Goose was reported. Also seen there were Lesser Scaup, Common Merganser, Hooded Merganser, American Black Duck and Ring-necked Duck.

On February 11th, Common Grackle were seen near the intersection of State Route 40 and Dog Leg Road.

On the February 10th Field Trip of the Dayton Audubon Society to Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area, the following were observed: 3 Long-eared Owls, 1 Northern Saw-whet Owl, Northern Harriers, Rough-legged Hawks, and Horned Larks

● Sandhill Cranes ● Ross's Goose

On February 19th , four Sandhill cranes were observed in a field at Manning Road and Diamond Mill Road. To reach the area, go west on State Route 725 from Miamisburg. Go north (right turn) on State Route 4. Then go west (left turn) on Manning Road to Diamond Mill Road.

On February 19th at Old Reid Park, a Ross's Goose was reported. Old Reid park is south of C.J.Brown Reservoir in just north of Springfield.

On February 18th, displaying Woodcocks were reported at Germantown Metropark. This is the time of the year to watch for mating Woodcocks.

● Snow Goose ● Albino Red-tailed Hawk

On February 28th at Old Reid Park, a Snow Goose was reported. Old Reid park is south of C.J. Brown Reservoir in Buck Creek State Park just north of Springfield.

On February 28th, an Albino Red-tailed Hawk with a pale pink tail was reported at the Xenia Bypass and State Route 35. It has been observed for one year at this location.

Observed on February 26th and 27th at Eastwood Lake were Buffleheads, Horned Grebes and Killdeer.

The highlights of this week's report are:

● Tree Swallows

On March 3 and 4, Tree Swallows were observed at Spring Valley. This is a very early arrival of Tree Swallows. Also, seen were Wood Ducks, Red-winged Blackbirds, Rusty Blackbirds and Yellow-rumped Warblers.

On March 3 at Huffman Metropark, 18 Hooded Mergansers and 2 Common Mergansers were observed.

At Cowan Lake, Canvasback and Redhead ducks were reported over the weekend.

Killdeer have been reported from many locations around the Greater Dayton area.

American Woodcocks are displaying in many areas. The Metroparks are conducting walks to observe American Woodcocks.

The highlights of this week's report are:

● Eastern Phoebe ● Golden Eagle ● Northern Goshawk

The following has been reported:

On March 11th, Eastern Phoebes were observed and heard at Englewood Metropark and in a Centerville neighborhood.

On March 11th at Spring Valley Wildlife Area, a Golden Eagle fly-over was reported.

At Buck Creek State Park, a Northern Goshawk was briefly observed . This is a time of migration and these birds were observed as they move north.

Over the weekend at Cowan Lake, the following were reported: Common Loon, Canvasbacks, Hooded Merganser, Common Merganser and Red-breasted Merganser.

On March 11 and 12th, at Englewood Metropark the following were observed: Blue- winged Teal, Green-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler, Coots and Wood Ducks. In addition, the first-of-the-season Lesser Yellowlegs were seen at Englewood.

Migrating Red-breasted Nuthatches have been reported at Brukner Nature Center.

On March 15th, a Tundra Swan was observed along Route 571 east of Tipp City.

On March 18th at , Common Loons were reported.

At Buck Creek State Park, a Ross's Goose was observed on March 18th. The observation was from the North end of the lake.

Purple Finches have been reported from the feeders at Brukner Nature Center.

Waterfowl reported from Hueston Woods, Eastwood Lake, Huffman Metropark, Buck Creek State Park, Englewood Metropark and Caesar's Creek State Park include: Bonaparte's Gull, Horned Grebe, Pied-billed Grebe, Wood Ducks, American Wigeon, Blue-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler, Greater Scaup, Lesser Scaup, Bufflehead, Hooded Merganser, Red-breasted Merganser, Coots and Ring-necked Duck.

On March 15th, a Tundra Swan was observed along State Route 571 east of Tipp City at the gravel pit.

On March 18th at Hueston Woods State Park, Common Loons were reported.

At Buck Creek State Park, a Ross's Goose was observed on March 18th. The observation was from the north end of the lake.

Purple Finches have been reported from the feeders at Brukner Nature Center.

Eastern Phoebes have been reported at Englewood Metropark, Eastwood Metropark and Spring Valley Wildlife Area.

At Huffman Metropark, the following have been seen: Bonaparte's Gull, Horned Grebe, Pied-billed Grebe, and Hooded Merganser.

At Eastwood Lake, the following have been reported: Horned Grebe, Pied-billed Grebe, Killdeer and Tree Swallows.

Field Sparrows have been observed at Aullwood Audubon Center.

On March 28th at Englewood Metropark, the following were reported: Bufflehead, Ruddy Duck, Blue-winged Teal, Green-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler, Horned Grebe and American Coot. Also, there were singing Eastern Phoebe and Eastern Bluebirds.

At Eastwood Lake , Common Loons, Pied-billed Grebe and Double-crested Cormorants were reported.

At Cowan Lake on March 27th, the following were observed: Canvasback, Red- breasted Merganser, Redhead, Lesser Scaup, Horned Grebe and Pied-billed Grebe.

Numerous Turkey Vultures have been reported across the area . Also, Killdeer are very active around the area.

A Louisiana Waterthrush was reported at Spring Valley on April 1st. Also reported were Yellow-rumped Warblers, Wood Ducks and Coots.

At Eastwood Lake , Common Loon, Horned Grebe, Bufflehead, Lesser Scaup and Coots were reported. At Eastwood Park a Great Horned Owl was observed. Also at Eastwood Park, Pileated Woodpecker and Eastern Phoebe were seen.

An Osprey and Belted Kingfisher were reported at Huffman Metropark.

At Cowan Lake the following were observed: Bufflehead, Lesser Scaup, Tree Swallows and Coots.

The highlights of this report are:

● Great Egret ● American Bittern ● Marsh Wren ● Yellow-throated Warbler ● Blue-gray Gnatcatcher

On April 5th and 6th at Spring Valley Wildlife Area, the following were seen: American Bittern, Great Egret, Northern Shoveler, Wood Duck, Rusty Blackbirds, Coots, Barred Owl, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Ring-necked Duck, and Brown Thrasher.

At Englewood MetroPark on April 7th and 8th , Yellow-throated Warbler, Blue- gray Gnatcatcher, Brown Thrasher, Chipping Sparrow, and Field Sparrow were reported.

At Cowan Lake on April 8th, a singing Yellow-throated Warbler was reported.

Reported at Aullwood Audubon Center on the April 5th were a Hermit Thrush, Barred Owl, and Golden-crowned Kinglet.

A Great Egret was seen north of Troy on the Great Miami River.

Finally, at Mercer Wildlife Area near Grand Lake St.Marys, the following were observed: Pectoral Sandpiper, Solitary Sandpiper, Dunlin, Coot, and Double- creasted Cormorant. Two nesting Bald Eagles were seen near this area.

The highlights of this report are:

● Eastern Kingbird ● Marsh Wren ● Chimney Swift ● Ruby-throated Hummingbird ● Swallows and Warblers

On April 14th at Spring Valley Wildlife Area, the following were seen: Black Vulture, Sora, Virginia Rail, singing Marsh Wren by the boardwalk, Warbling Vireo, White- eyed Vireo, Yellow Warblers, Yellow-throated Warbler, and one Hooded Merganser with nine ducklings.

On April 13th at Spring Valley Wildlife Area,the following were observed: Eastern Kingbird, Tree Swallows, Northern Rough-winged Swallow, and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers.

At Caesar Creek State Park on April 15th , there was a Louisiana Waterthrush on Harveysburg Road and a Yellow-throated Warbler and a Northern Parula in the gorge. On the beach, Bonaparte's Gulls and Spotted Sandpiper were observed.

At Englewood MetroPark, the following were reported on April 15th: Northern Rough- winged Swallows, Barn Swallows, Tree Swallows, Great Egret, Yellow-throated Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, and Black-throated Green Warbler.

On April 13th at Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area, the following were seen: Glossy Ibis, 300-400 American Golden Plovers, and a Red-headed Woodpecker.

On April 10th, the following was reported at C.J.Brown Lake: Common Loons,

On April 26th at Spring Valley Wild Life Area, Orchard Orioles were observed. Also seen were: Yellow-throated Vireo, Warbling Vireo, Red-headed Woodpecker, Pileated Woodpecker, and Prothonotary Warbler.

At Englewood MetroPark on April 25th, a Little Blue Heron was observed, along with the following: Barred Owl, Baltimore Oriole, Warbling Vireo, Green Heron, Red- breasted Nuthatch, and three Prothonotary Warblers.

On April 25th, a Rose-breasted Grosbeak was observed at Aullwood Audubon Center, and at a residence on Martindale Road.

At Brukner Nature Center on the 22nd, the following warblers were reported: Northern Parula, Black-and-White Warbler, and Cerulean Warbler. Also a Swamp Sparrow was observed.

On May 2nd and May 7th at Huffman Prairie on Wright-Patterson AFB, Bobolinks were observed. Also reported at Huffman Prairie were: Common Nighthawk, Baltimore Oriole, Warbling Vireo, and Common Yellowthroat.

On May 2nd, Northern Bobwhites were observed on Ballinger Road in Union, Ohio. Take Old Springfield Road past the pond to Ballinger Road.

At Englewood MetroPark on May 6th and 7th, the following warblers were reported: Blue-winged, Tennessee, Nashville, Northern Parula, Yellow, Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, Black-throated Green, Blackburnian, Yellow-throated, Bay-breasted, Blackpoll, Cerulean, Black-and-white, American Redstart, Prothonotary, Wilson's, and Yellow-rumped. Also reported at Englewood MetroPark were: Scarlet Tanager, White- eyed Vireo, Red-eyed Vireo, Warbling Vireo, Indigo Bunting, Black-billed Cuckoo, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Veery, Swainson's Thrush, Cedar Waxwing, Acadian Flycatcher, Great Creasted Flycatcher, and Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

On May 6th at Buck Creek State Park, 3 Willets and Laughing Gulls were observed. In addition, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Least Sandpipers, Spotted Sandpipers, and eight Semipalmated Plovers were reported.

On May 12th at Caesar Creek State Park, a nesting Red-shouldered Hawk was observed. For additional information, go to the Visitor's Center. Also reported were: Red-eyed Vireo, Warbling Vireo, Bobolinks, Wood Thrush, Swainson's Thrush, Great Crested Flycatcher, Acadian Flycatcher, Baltimore Oriole, and Orchard Oriole. Warblers observed were: Common Yellowthroat, Hooded, Yellow, Northern Parula, Magnolia, Chestnut-sided, Blackpoll and Yellow-breasted Chat.

On May 13th, a Summer Tanager was reported at Englewood Metro Park.

● Bell's Vireo ● Black Tern

On May 18th at Buck Creek State Park, a Bell's Vireo was heard singing. This Bell's Vireo is in the same area as last year. Enter on Buck Creek Lane, turn right on Road 2, and continue to the second road on your left. The Bell's Vireo is about 100 yards past this intersection. Do not park on the road, but turn left at the second road and right into the parking area.

On May 17th at Caesar Creek State Park beach, a Black Tern was observed. On May 13th, a Spotted Sandpiper and a Caspian Tern were reported.

On May 20th, a Least Bittern, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Palm Warbler, Blackpoll, Spotted Sandpiper, and Great Crested Flycatcher were reported at Huffman Prairie.

A Scarlet Tanager was report from Englewood Metro Park on May 20th, and from Spring Valley Wild Life Area on May 19th.

A Veery was reported from a backyard in Englewood. Numbers of Ruby-throated Hummingbirds have been reported from area backyards.

A little further south of Dayton, on May 20th, a Bell's Vireo was reported at Gilmore Ponds in Butler County.

As recently as May 28th at Buck Creek State Park, a Bell's Vireo was heard singing. This Bells Vireo is in the same area as last year. Enter on Buck Creek Lane, turn right on Road 2, continue to the second road on your left, and the Bell's Vireo is about 100 yards past this intersection on Road 2 on the left hand side. Do not park on the road, but turn left at the second road and right into the parking area.

Bobolinks and a Savannah Sparrow were seen May 28th in the meadows on either side of Yeazell Rd., 0.7 mile east of the intersection of Yeazell and Grant Rds. Grant Rd. is the eastern boundary of Buck Creek Park.

Other recent sightings include a Least Bittern seen from the boardwalk at Spring Valley Wildlife Area; and a Yellow chat, a Cerulean Warbler and a Summer Tanager viewed at Englewood Metropark.

The following have been reported:

On June 3rd, three singing male Dickcissels, as well as Grasshopper Sparrows, were seen in Preble County east of Rush Wildlife Area. The location is the north side of Northern Road 1/2 mile west of Wayne and Race Roads.

The migration is over and summer residents are being seen such as:

at Eastwood Lake and Park on June 1st, hundreds of Cedar Waxwings, as well as Gray Catbirds, Yellow Warblers, Common Yellowthroats and Common Nighthawks,

at Charleston Falls on June 7th, Wood Thrush, Yellow Billed Cuckoo, Acadian Flycatcher, Eastern Towhees and Field Sparrows,

at Englewood MetroPark on June 5th, House Wrens, Great Crested Flycatcher, House Finches, Yellow-breasted Chat, Blue-winged Warbler, Brown Thrasher, American Goldfinches and Eastern Bluebirds.

● Peregrine Falcons

The following have been reported:

June 11th. Three young Peregrine Falcons, two female and one male, fledged within the last three days. The male has died from unknown causes. The adults and young females may be observed from Courthouse Square in downtown Dayton, where they regularly fly and perch on the ledges of tall buildings in the immediate area. The two adults will continue feeding the fledged birds until October.

June 9th. At Area C of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, a Green heron, Baltimore Orioles, Cedar Waxwings and a Kildeer with young were noted.

At Charleston Falls on June 7th, Wood Thrush, Yellow Billed Cuckoo, Acadian Flycatcher, Eastern Towhees and Field Sparrows were observed.

At Englewood MetroPark on June 11th, Pileated Woodpecker, Double-crested Cormorant, Great Crested Flycatcher, Blue-winged Warbler, Acadian Flycatcher and Turkey Vultures were seen.

The following have been reported:

June 18th. Two Bell's Vireos were heard and seen on the Wolf Creek Rail Trail Southeast of Brookville. From the intersection of Westbook and Heckathorn Roads, take Heckathorn South to Bike Trail where you can park. The birds were seen about the distance of 6 telephone poles going to the Northwest (right) on the trail.

In the same general area, Dickcissels and Grasshopper Sparrows were observed in the triangular weedy field south of Westbrook and West of Heckathorn. Viewing may be best from the development of new homes bordering on this field.

Also on June 18th, Common and Black Terns were noted at St. Marys Fish Hatchery near St. Marys.

The highlight of this report is:

● Least Bittern

The following have been reported:

On June 25th a Least Bittern was reported from Spring Valley WLA boardwalk. Also seen was a Green Heron. On June 26th an immature Virginia Rail was noted on the same Boardwalk.

The Bell's Vireo was still being seen on the bike path in Brookville on June 25th and 26th.

On June 24th, Dickcissels and Grasshopper Sparrows were reported at the intersection of Peter's Pike and Old Springfield Road. The birds were seen in the field toward the water tower. Also on June 24th, nesting Bank Swallows were seen on Ballinger Rd. one half mile from the intersection of Old Springfield and Ballinger Roads. Look for a driveway just large enough to hold one or two cars on the West side of the road. Old Springfield is the road bordering the North Park of Englewood Metro Park.

The following nesting birds were observed on June 22nd at the North Park of Englewood MetroPark: Eastern Kingbird, Willow Flycatcher, American Goldfinch, Yellow Warbler, Indigo Bunting, Orchard Oriole, Northern Flicker, American Robin, Field Sparrow and Tree Swallow.

At Bruckner Nature Center on June 22nd , a Summer Tanager, a Great Horned Owl and a Barred Owl were reported.

● Henslow's Sparrow

The following have been reported:

On June 29th, a Henslow's Sparrow was observed at Huffman Prairie on Pylon Rd. Bobolinks are also being seen in the same area. Access to this part of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base may be obtained at the Visitor's Center at Gate 12A on Route 444. A free map will be provided at the Center. There is no charge for entrance but visiting hours are from 8 AM to 8 PM daily.

On June 25th a Least Bittern was reported from Spring Valley WLA boardwalk. Also seen was a Green Heron. On June 26th an immature Virginia Rail was noted on the same Boardwalk.

The following have been reported:

Two Willets were recently seen at the Metzger and Ferguson Reservoirs in Lima.

On July 6th, a Laughing Gull was spotted at the south end of the beach near the dam at Buck Creek State Park. Also seen were Least Sandpipers and 60 Ring Billed Gulls.

From Cowan Lake comes a report of a Little Blue Heron observed on the Upper Lotus Trail. Also noted at the lake were Least and Spotted Sandpipers and Killdeer.

At St. Marys Fish Hatchery, 4 Least Sandpipers as well as a Green Heron and Killdeer were seen.

On July 20th, a Great Egret was reported from Englewood Metro Park. Also seen there were: Solitary Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, Killdeer, Green Heron, Wood Duck, Lesser Yellowlegs, Scarlet Tanager and Pileated Woodpecker. On July 17th at Englewood Metro Park, the following was reported: Willow Flycatcher, Acadian Flycatcher, Yellow-billed Cuckoo and Chimney Swifts.

On July 19th at Germantown Metro Park, the following were reported: Brown Thrasher, Wood Thrush, Carolina Wren and Northern Mockingbird.

At Spring Valley WLA on July 19th, a Red-headed Woodpecker, Eastern Kingbird and Eastern Wood-Pewee were reported.

Reported from Cowan Lake State Park on July 16th were Lesser Yellowlegs, Least Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper and Killdeer.

On July 12th at the North Park of Englewood Metro Park, the following were seen: 9 Orchard Orioles, Purple Martin and Eastern Bluebirds.

Reported from Wright-Patterson AFB on July 16th were Barn Swallows and Eastern Bluebirds.

Also seen were: Solitary Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Pectoral Sandpiper, Killdeer, Green Heron, Wood Duck, Lesser Yellowlegs, Great Egret, Pied-billed Grebe, Great Blue Heron, Northern Rough- winged Swallow, Tree Swallow, Chimney Swift, Cedar Waxwing, Red-bellied Woodpecker, and Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

On July 25th at Voice of America Park in Butler County,the following were reported: Sedge Wren and Bobolinks.

At Miami Whitewater Wetland on July 21st, a Bell's Vireo was still being seen.

Reported from Hueston Woods State Park on July 20th were a Louisiana Waterthrush and a Black Vulture.

● Least Tern ● American Avocet

The following have been reported:

On August 13th, a Least Tern was reported near Springfield. The bird was seen at the Prime Ohio Industrial Park east of Springfield. To reach the area, exit I-70 at State Route 41, head west toward Springfield about 1/2 mile, and turn right at the first traffic light. Pass between two ponds and continue to the larger pond on the right. The bird was observed on the larger pond.

On August 13th at C.J. Brown Lake, an American Avocet was observed at the base of the dam.

At Caeser's Creek State Park on August 11th, the following were observed: Osprey, Double-crested Cormorant, 2 Great Horned Owlets, Belted Kingfisher, Eastern Kingbird, and Wood Ducks with young.

At Spring Valley Wild Life Area, the lake has been drained and the area may be good for shorebirds. Observed on August 11th from the boardwalk were Least Bittern and Blue-winged Teal with young.

On August 11th at C.J. Brown, nesting Cliff Swallows were observed. To reach the area, ask for directions at the visitors center.

Observed at Englewood Metro Park on August 11th were 2 Great Egrets, Lesser Yellowlegs, Greater Yellowlegs, and Solitary, Least, and Spotted Sandpipers. Also, 3

On August 16th, a Black-crowned Night-Heron was seen on the west side of the Great Miami River near Wolf Creek. This site may be accessed from Edwin Moses Bvld. between Third St. and Salem Ave., parking near the bridge over Wolf Creek.

On August 13th and 14th, three American Avocets were noted on the beach east of the bath house at C. J. Brown Reservoir.

On August 16th, seen at the Aullwood Gardens parking lot were Blackburnian, Chestnut-sided, and Yellow-throated Warblers.

On August 15th, on the along N. River Rd., the following were observed: Sora, Cooper's and Red-tailed Hawks, and Osprey.

On August 15th, A Black-and-white Warbler and a Double-crested Cormorant were seen at Englewood MetroPark.

On August 15th, two Black-crowned Night-Herons were reported from the bike path on the Great Miami River. Two location were noted: one sighting was where Wolf Creek enters the Great Miami and the other sighting was south of Carillon Park between the railroad bridge and the Broadway Ave. bridge.

At Kiser Lake on August 18th, a Canada Warbler was observed. Also, at C.J.Brown Reservoir, a Caspian Tern was observed.

On August 16th at the Aullwood Gardens parking lot, the following warblers were observed: Blackburnian, Chestnut-sided and Yellow-throated.

At Englewood Metro Park on August 16th, a Black-and-white Warbler was observed.

On August 19th at the St Mary s Fish Hatchery, the following were reported: Caspian Tern, Forster's Tern, Bonaparte's Gull, Great Egret and Green Heron. There was only one pond drained, and it was dry.

On August 15th on the Little Miami River south of Clifton, the following were observed: Sora, Osprey, Cooper's Hawk and Red-tailed Hawk.

On August 22nd at Spring Valley WLA a Baird's Sandpiper was reported. Also, Least Sandpiper, Semipalmated Sandpiper and Solitary Sandpiper.

Also seen at Huffman Prairie were Eastern Bluebird, Eastern Meadowlark, and Gray Catbird.

On August 20th at Woodland Cemetery a Black-and-white Warbler was observed.

The Western Kingbird observed on August 23rd at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has not been seen again. Many birders have searched the area.

On August 26th, large flocks of Common Nighthawks were reported from Spring Valley Wildlife Area and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Also seen on August 26th were a Great Egret at Huffman MetroPark, and a Gadwall at Eastwood MetroPark.

On August 28th at Sugarcreek MetroPark, the following were observed: Common Nighthawks, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Eastern Bluebirds, Common Yellowthroat, and Eastern Towhee.

The following have been reported:

On August 23rd at Huffman Prairie at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, a Western Kingbird was observed. The bird has not been seen since August 23rd.

On August 26th at Spring Valley WLA, a Baird's Sandpiper was reported. Also, a Least Sandpiper and a Semipalmated Sandpiper were seen. The lake has been drained and it can be good shorebird observation from the parking lot.

On August 26th, 200 Common Nighthawks were reported at Spring Valley WLA, and 400 Common Nighthawks were reported from Wright-Patterson AFB.

Reported August 29th on the pond on Rt 334 in Springfield were Northern Shovelers, Blue-winged Teal, and Pied-billed Grebe. At Old Reed Park, two Ospreys and a Mute Swan were seen. At Grand Lake St Marys fish hatchery, one pond is dry with poor conditions. At Grand Lake St Marys, a Spotted Sandpiper, a Mute Swan and a Double- crested Cormorant were reported. At Mercer WLA, an immature Bald Eagle and an early Rough-legged Hawk were observed.

On August 29th at Caesar Creek beach, Forster's Terns were reported.

At Aullwood Audubon Center on August 30th, a Black-and-white Warbler, a Nashville Warbler, Red-eyed and Warbling Vireos, and Common Nighthawks were seen.

On September 6th at Aullwood Audubon Center, across the road from the Center, a Red-breasted Nuthatch was observed. Also seen were the following warblers: Black- throated Green, American Redstart, Wilson's, Nashville and Black-and-white. In addition, Yellow-throated Vireo, Red-eyed Vireo, Philadelphia Vireo, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, and Gray Catbirds were seen.

At Englewood MetroPark on September 6th, the following were reported: Baltimore Oriole, Eastern Phoebe, Eastern Wood-Pewee, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, and Great Egret.

On September 6th at Grand Lake St. Marys fish hatchery, two ponds have been drained and the following were observed: American Golden-Plover, Greater Yellowlegs, and Osprey.

At C.J. Brown Reservoir on September 1st, the following were reported: two Ruddy Turnstones, two Osprey, two Bald Eagles, a Forster's Tern, and a Broad-winged Hawk fly-over.

The following have been reported:

On September 9th at Aullwood Audubon Center, during the Dayton Audubon Society walk, a Brown Creeper was observed. Also seen were the following warblers: Black- throated Green, American Redstart, Wilson's, Black-and-white, Ovenbird, Magnolia Warbler, Northern Parula, Yellow-throated, Tennessee, and Blackpoll. In addition, Red-eyed Vireo, Brown Thrasher and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers were seen.

On September 14th at Grand Lake St. Marys fish hatchery, four ponds have been drained and the following were observed: Baird's Sandpiper, Pectoral Sandpiper, Solitary Sandpiper, Lincoln's Sparrow, Forster's Tern, Caspian Tern, and Herring, Bonaparte's and Ring-billed Gulls. The following warblers were reported: Wilson's, Black-and-white, Magnolia, Yellow-rumped, Tennessee, Blackpoll, Nashville, Cape May, Blackburnian, Pine, and Bay-breasted. Also seen were Philadelphia Vireo and Marsh Wren.

A Buff-breasted Sandpiper was observed at Buck Creek State Park beach on September 14th. At Cowan Lake State Park on September 14th, an Ovenbird, Magnolia and Golden-winged Warbler, and Great Egrets were reported.

On September 16th at Aullwood Audubon Center, a Yellow-billed Cuckoo and a Rose- breasted Grosbeak were reported. The following warblers were observed: American

On September 22nd at Grand Lake St. Marys fish hatchery, six ponds have been drained and the following were observed: Baird's Sandpiper, Pectoral Sandpiper, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Semipalmated Plover, Lesser Yellowlegs, Lincoln's Sparrow, Song Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, Gray Catbird, Nashville Warbler, and Common Yellowthroat.

South of Dayton, a Red-breasted Nuthatch and a Ruby-throated Hummingbird were reported on September 22nd.

Observed on September 22nd on Old Springfield Road near the airport were a Black- bellied Plover and Horned Larks.

On September 23rd at Possum Creek MetroPark, a Dark-eyed Junco was reported. The following warblers were observed: Nashville, Ovenbird, Tennessee, Cape May, and Yellow-rumped.

Observed September 23rd at Englewood MetroPark were Broad-winged Hawk, Blackburnian Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Chimney Swift, Tree Swallows, and Northern Rough-winged Swallows.

An Osprey was observed at Eastwood MetroPark on September 23rd.

On September 24th at Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark, the following were seen: Field Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, Northern Parula, Blackburnian Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, American Redstart, Cooper's Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, and Red-winged Blackbird.

On September 24th at Englewood MetroPark, a singing Blue-winged Warbler was observed.

The following have been reported:

On September 28th, Black-crowned Night-Herons were observed near Island Park on the river. To reach the area, cross the Helena Street Bridge going east, pass the Box 21 office, turn right on the road to the levee, and proceed to the parking lot. The birds were observed between 6:30pm and dark. A spotting scope is helpful.

Observed on September 29-30th on the rocks at Caesar Creek Beach was a Sanderling. Also seen on the west end of the beach in the trees was a juvenile Merlin.

On September 29th at Spring Valley WLA, an American Pipit was seen with Pectoral Sandpipers in the mudflats. Also seen were a Sharp-shinned Hawk, Tennessee Warbler and Blackpoll Warbler.

The Dayton Audubon walk on September 29th at Germantown MetroPark reported 34 species including: Veery, White-throated Sparrow, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Cooper's Hawk, and migrating Double-crested Cormorants.

On September 30th at Englewood Metro Park, during the Dayton Audubon walk, 38 species were reported including : Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Brown Thrasher, Eastern Phoebe, Brown Creeper, Blue-headed Vireo, Red-eyed Vireo, and White-throated Sparrow. The following warblers were reported: Yellow-rumped, Bay-breasted,

On October 7th, a Peregrine Falcon, Common Snipe, Stilt Sandpiper and Swamp Sparrow were observed at Grand Lake St. Mary s fish hatchery. Also seen were Ruddy Duck, Northern Shoveler, White-throated Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, Savannah Sparrow, Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs, Short-billed Dowitcher, Yellow- rumped Warbler, and Palm Warbler.

On October 6th at the pond by the Nutter Center, a Ring-necked Duck was observed.

On October 4th at Englewood Metro Park, a mature Bald Eagle was present for one day. Also reported, Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler, Red-breasted Nuthatch, House Wren, Eastern Wood-Pewee, and Eastern Phoebe.

On October 4th at Aullwood Audubon Center, the following were observed: Yellow- bellied Sapsucker, Pileated, Hairy and Red-bellied Woodpeckers, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, House Wren, Carolina Wren, Golden-crowned Kinglet, and Magnolia Warbler.

On October 17th at C.J.Brown Reservoir beach, 12 Franklin's Gulls were observed. On the mudflats at the north end of C.J.Brown Reservoir, a Long- billed Dowitcher, Stilt Sandpiper and Baird's Sandpiper were observed.

Reported on October 17th at Spring Valley WLA were a Peregrine Falcon, Lesser Yellowlegs, Baird's Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, Pectoral Sandpiper, and Dunlin.

Also on October 17th at a home near Englewood MetroPark, a Purple Finch and a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker were observed.

On October 17th at Wegerzyn Center MetroPark, the following were observed: a kettle of Broad-winged Hawks, Turkey Vultures, Cooper's Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, and Palm and Yellow-rumped Warblers.

On October 13th at Englewood MetroPark, a Cattle Egret was present for one day.

First reported on October 12th and still present is a Common Loon on a private pond located on RT 235 across from Rainbow Lakes.

On October 28th at Spring Valley WLA, a Brewer's Blackbird was reported.

Reported from Ferguson and Metzger Reservoirs in Lima on October 28th were: Merlin, Snow Bunting, Black Scoter, Horned Grebe, Red-breasted Merganser, Bufflehead, Lesser Scaup, American Coots, and 501 Ruddy Ducks.

On October 28th at C.J.Brown Reservoir, the following were observed: Snow Bunting and Pine Siskin; Song, Swamp, Lincoln's and White-crowned Sparrows; and Yellow- rumped, Nashville, Black-throated Green, and Cape May Warblers. From the parking lot north of the beach the following were observed: Surf Scoter, Horned Grebe, Pied- billed Grebe, Common Loon, Ruddy Duck, Lesser Scaup, Green-winged Teal, Stilt Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, Dunlin and Killdeer.

Reported on October 28th from Englewood MetroPark were: Lesser Scaup, Ruddy Duck, Ring-necked Duck, Brown Creeper, Tree Swallow, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Dark-eyed Junco, and Cedar Waxwings. At the North Park were Broad-winged Hawk and Tree Swallows.

On October 27th at the Voice of America Park, Horned Larks, Northern Harrier and 2 Vesper Sparrows were observed.

Reported from Prairie near Greenville on October 27th were Winter Wren, Hermit Thrush, Eastern Screech-Owl and Sharp-shinned Hawk.

At Caesar Creek State Park on October 26th, Pine Siskin, Purple Finch, Bonaparte's Gull and Ring-billed Gulls were reported.

Finally, on October 27th in Milford, Ohio near Cincinnati, a White-winged Crossbill was observed.

The following have been reported:

On November 1-4 at Metzger Reservoir, a Red-necked Grebe was observed. Also seen were Snow Bunting, Buffleheads, Ruddy Ducks, Ring-necked Ducks, and Hooded Mergansers.

On November 1st, several Evening Grosbeaks were observed at a private feeder near Greenville. Also, 5 or 6 Evening Grosbeaks were observed on the feeders at Brukner Nature Center.

On November 3rd at C.J. Brown Reservoir, the following were observed: Horned Grebe, Common Loon, American Pipit, and Franklin's Gull.

Reported on November 1st from Englewood MetroPark were Northern Shoveler, Wood Duck, Green-winged Teal, and American Coot.

Reported from Aullwood Gardens on November 1st was a Winter Wren.

At Caesar Creek State Park on November 1st, Common Loons and Horned Grebes were observed.

On November 3rd from Eastwood MetroPark, Horned Grebes and Buffleheads were reported.

The following have been reported:

On November 19th, a Red Crossbill was reported at the Bruckner Nature Center feeders.

On November 17th, a White-winged Crossbill was observed at a private feeder in New Bremen. Birders are welcome. Please call Betty Berry or Jim Arnold for details.

On November 18th at C.J. Brown Reservoir, the following were observed: Red- throated Loon, Common Loon, American Pipit, Cattle Egret, 37 Common Snipe, Dunlin and Pectoral Sandpiper.

Reported on November 16th from Killdeer Plains WLA were Lapland Longspurs and Northern Bobwhite. Also, on November 10th, a Northern Shrike was observed at Killdeer Plains.

Reported from Eastwood Lake MetroPark on November 10th was a Bald Eagle.

At Wilmington Reservoir on November 10th, the following were reported: Canvasback, Ruddy Duck, Redhead, Hooded Merganser and Red-breasted Merganser.

The following have been reported:

On November 20th, a flock of 400 Sandhill Cranes was seen at Englewood Reserve on the lagoon.

On November 19th and 20th, a Red Crossbill was been seen at the feeders at Brukner Nature Center in the Troy area. From the interchange of IR 75 and SR 55, travel west on 55, turning right onto Horseshoe Bend Road. The Center is on the right.

On November 17th, a White-winged Crossbill was observed at a private feeder in New Bremen. Birders are welcome. Please call Betty Berry or Jim Arnold for details.

The following have been reported:

The Sandhill Cranes are still present at Englewood MetroPark around evening between 4:30pm and dark. They are feeding during the day in the fields on Sweet Potato Ridge Road, which is north on Rt 48 to the first road past O.R.Edgington School.

Sandhill Cranes were also observed at Spring Valley WLA and at Cowan Lake.

The Red Crossbill was last seen on November 21st at Brukner Nature Center.

Two White-winged Crossbills, both males, are still being observed between 8-9am at a private feeder in New Bremen. To reach the home, from north on Rt 66 go to the second light, turn right on Rt 274, go about two blocks, turn left on Jefferson Street, then right at the third stop sign on to Klee Street, and go 100 ft to Haarvye Road. The address is #6 Haarvye Road. Park in the lot next to the home and observe the feeders. Birders are welcome.

The following have been reported:

On December 3 and December 4, two Snow Geese were seen in the Greenville area off SR 571 behind the Greenville Technology Building.

Sandhill Cranes continue to be seen feeding during the day in the fields on Sweet Potato Ridge Road, which is north on Rt 48 to the first road past O.R.Edgington School.

Over 100 Sandhill Cranes have been seen at Spring Valley WLA.

Two White-winged Crossbills, both males, are still being observed between 8-9 AM and around 4 PM at a private feeder in New Bremen. You may call the homeowners at 419/629-2764 for permission and directions.

From Caesar Creek Lake comes a report December 3 of 18 Loons, 25 Horned Grebes, Ruddy Ducks, Gadwalls, Coots, and Sandhill Cranes, seen from Harveysburg Rd. which runs off Route 73.

The highlight of this report is:

● Rufous Hummingbird

The following have been reported:

A Rufous Hummingbird has been sighted over the past week at a hummingbird feeder in Price Hill, a neighborhood just west of Downtown Cincinnati. On December 12th, the Rufous Hummingbird was perched in the Osage Orange next to the driveway for 2417 Maryland. It then went to the hummingbird feeder (at 2419 Maryland). The feeder can be seen from the base of the driveway for 2417, so it is not necessary to go up on the deck (as too much activity might disturb the bird). This is on the south portion of Maryland off of Elberon Ave (take West US 50 from I- 75). The homeowner says that it has been present for a week.

On December 9th, a Red-throated Loon and Common Loons were reported at C.J. Brown Reservoir.

Also on December 9th, a White-winged Scoter and a Mute Swan were observed at the Grand Lake St Marys fish hatchery.

Three Red-necked Grebes were reported on December 11 at Grand Lake St.Marys across from the fish hatchery entrance.

On December 8th at Shawnee Prairie in Greenville, Snow Geese were observed.
