Cowboy Mounted Shooting to Appear for First Time in 2013; Yee! Haw! Load Them Guns. Mount Them Steeds

November 6, 2013 – Louisville, KY – Cowboys will mount up and do some shooting from horseback at the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) this year.

Cowboy Mounted Shooting has risen in popularity during the past few years and the event will appear at the North American International this year for the first time. There will be three consecutive events on Thursday, November 14; Friday, November 15; and Saturday, November 16. The Thursday shooting event will take place in the morning, while afternoon time slots have been assigned for shooting on Friday and Salturday.

The North American Championship also takes place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, each night at 7:30 p.m.

Cowboy Mounted Shooting events are free to the public with admission and parking fees to the North American International.

Rodeo tickets can be purchased at the Kentucky Exposition Center ticket office, or through TicketMaster.

Contestants in Cowboy Mounted Shooting competition will use real .45 caliber handguns, but they will be loaded with specially-prepared black powder. Real bullets are not used, and target are balloons that are strategically placed to test the skills of the rider and the .

Single-action revolvers just like the handguns of the Old West will be used, making the test of skills even greater for contestants.

Mounted shooting will be a lively event, for sure. It has gained in popularity throughout the United States with equine enthusiasts and with organizations such as SASS, the Single Action Shooter’s Society. Contestants will be scored on timing and accuracy.

An added bonus for those who attend on Friday and Saturday, will be the Draft , whose events will alternate with the Cowboy Mounted Shooting competition.
