Suresnes Summer Week At home with Inayat Khan and his family

Fazal Manzil, Suresnes August 2 – 8, 2020 with Wali & Ariënne

As 2020 is dedicated to Hazrat Inayat Khan with a four-week- end Year Group in Khankah Samark, we decided to move the Samark Summer Week to Fazal Manzil, the house where Ina- yat Khan lived from 1922 until his passing in 1927. Later, it served as the house for his family and especially Pir Vilayat used it as a retreat center. As Mary, the last occupant of the house, passed away, Fazal Manzil is now open to be used for groups like the one we envision.

In this house full of history, we will share stories of the life of Inayat Khan and his wife and children, and from there move on to some of his teachings. Part of this history can be found in Wali’s new book on Inayat Khan ‘Draw us closer’. We will have a chance to work in the Oriental Room, where Inayat Khan used to have his interviews with mureeds. As we will also work in the Universel, we inshallah will share Inayat Khan’s ideas on the Universel in this and in the spiritual realm. As the Universel is dedicated to Noor Inayat Khan, the elder daughter who was executed as a spy in WW II, we will also share some of her moving story that after WW II so deeply influenced the whole family, and we will follow the path of Inayat’s Message to the present day.

Program Every morning starts with Sufi Morning Meditations in the Oriental Room. The Dharma talks will be dedicated to Inayat Khan and his family and some of the teachings, hidden in the Prayers. As usual, the teachings will be in the form of ‘applied Sufism’ so not theoretical, but applicable to daily life. Sharing groups may deepen the every-day aspect of these teachings. A main part of the program in every session will be dedicated to the Dances of Universal Peace, so we can embody both the atmosphere and the teachings and store them in our physical consciousness.

Lodging Possibilities to sleep at the venue are limited and basic. There are 12 matrasses available (dormi- tory style, bring your own sleeping bag etc. Costs are € 10/night, so € 60 in total). We will send the participants a list of nearby hotels and B&B.

Costs & Registration As the participants will have extra costs for lodging and travel, we decided to reduce the price for the Summer Week to only € 323,=. This includes all meals (main meal catered by nearby restau- rants, breakfast and lunch Khankah Samark style).
