This year though, the addition of some beef at the defensive tackle position, has given Lavarias a chance to move back to his natural position. The result has been remarkable. “Were all finally playing where we belong,” said Lavarias. One can point to improved play along the line as one of the main reasons behind Idaho’s improvement. As a redshirt junior, Lavarias is a graybeard playing on a defensive line that only has one senior. The youth along the line excites Lavarias. “It’s great to know that you’re going to be playing with these guys next year,” he said. As one of the older ones along the line, Lavarias imparts wisdom to the younger players. “It’s great to have a chance to bring along the freshmen and other younger players,” he said. Lavarias’ accomplishments extend beyond football.
